Been watching the Bloodbath set. At first I was pissed because the matches are clipped in the feature, but then *stupid* I realized the full matches were extras.

Magnum vs. Tully is one awesome match. Magnum is a really sad story. He was on his way to being great.

By the way WMD, I meant to tell you this. Watch the match on there with HBK/Janetty...............Raven's on commentary as Johnny Polo............FUCKING HILARIOUS.

Will be getting to that. Is the feature even worth watching? The few minutes I watched kinda sucked. Worth my $3 for the matches alone, obviously, just wondered if I should devote the time to the feature.

Yeah, the feature is worth checking out, but probably only once. They show you a good bit of some of the matches that aren't in full..............so it's worth checking out for the fact that you own it.

Scrooge McSuck - April 6, 2006 06:20 AM (GMT)
The bonus matches alone are worth the price if you buy it cheap enough, and for $3, that's REALLY cheap. The main feature is decent, but WWE has done a hell of a lot better on almost all other DVD sets since then.

Since I've seen the match within the last few weeks, I also have to say Magnum/Blanchard is a fucking awesome match.

whitemilesdavis - April 6, 2006 12:24 PM (GMT)
WCW/NJPW - Kollision in Korea. Started watching it. Really cool show.

Scrooge McSuck - April 18, 2006 12:19 AM (GMT)
A whole lot of Hogan stuff, since I just finally started doing what any pathetic loser with no life would do: compile a whole bunch of matches and stuff onto some tapes of the same guy... and since I already did 5 Kane tapes, it's time for Hogan. So far...

I've been recording CMLL shows to DVD starting with this month. This week's episode:

Universo 2000, Pierroth and Ultimo Guerrero vs. Hijo Del Perro Aguayo, Damian 666 and Halloween
Mistico, Dr, Wagner Jr. and La Mascara vs. Rey Bucanero, Averno and Mephisto
Hijo Del Santo vs. Atlantis

Which reminds me, me and you need to set up some sort of a trade or something..............my collection could use some kickass CMLL stuff.

I just watched the first disc of CZW's Best of the Best 5 show and I watched On the Road w/AJ Styles which was pretty damn cool.

It's worth it just to see the AJ training seminar in England for the FWA. HILARIOUS stuff.

Mad Dog - April 19, 2006 08:34 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I should have a decent amount of CMLL built up by the summer. I only have 2 DVDs right now though.

I'll keep a running record of the matches as I record them though.

eStragand - April 19, 2006 11:31 PM (GMT)
I know I DVD'd a match with Los Chivas, back in the winter! (the guys who dress up like goats...I think it's a soccer thing)

Real F'n Show - April 19, 2006 11:34 PM (GMT)
I really need to get some CMLL eventually as well. I love guys like Ultimo, Perro Jr., Mistico, Rey, etc. but never really follow it all that much, just download random matches here and there...

Real F'n Show - April 20, 2006 09:24 PM (GMT)
Watched a really good Brock Lesnar vs. Rey Mysterio match from 2003 the other night, on a Brock compilation I made. Man, I miss this guy. I'll probably watch his match vs. Benoit tonight...

dynamite kido - April 20, 2006 09:26 PM (GMT)
Started watching the second disc of CZW's Best of the Best 5 last night. I must say that so far I've been pretty underwhelmed by it. But in all fairness I haven't watched it all yet........

Scrooge McSuck - April 24, 2006 02:41 AM (GMT)
Sting/Flair vs. Funk/Muta Thunderdome Cage from Halloween Havoc '89.

Not a "mind-blowing awesome" match I'd expect from this combo, but it's definitely well booked and entertaining. Flair breaks away from his usual formula match and just beats the shit out of Funk for most of the match, and Sting comes in with little touches, like a cross body from the cage wall and into the ring (it was a HIAC style cage), and the awesome double teaming figure four/top rope splashes towards the end.

Real F'n Show - April 25, 2006 10:14 PM (GMT)
My girlfriend loves that match for some reason. She's a big fan of Terry Funk ever since we watched Barely Legal '97 together...

Scrooge McSuck - April 27, 2006 05:27 PM (GMT)
SuperBrawl IV, and I'll probably do a mini-review for it. On paper, outside of the main events, this card looks not-very-good.

Edit: I keep forgeting Harlem Heat used to be "Kane and Kole" and not "Booker T and Stevie Ray."

ROH - Final Showdown

I may do a lil' review. Overall I liked it.

One match I hated - Colt/Williams vs. Nigel/Collyer. Odd because I erally like all 4 guys. Like I think any of them could be a big player in one of the majors. But this match sucked.

Is that the show in Dayton? Because everyone in my section got a kick of out making fun of Collyer. The only good thing about watching that match live, really. It was a letdown

NWA-TNA's Super X Tournament card from September 2003. Outside of a terrible opener with "Mad Mikey" vs. Some Random Gay Guy and the overall mess they wanted to call WarGames, one of the better weekly PPV's in terms of match quality.

Big F'N Swigg - April 28, 2006 04:56 PM (GMT)
I watched the infamous Sabu-Terry Funk barbed wire match from "Born to be Wired," and the RVD-Sabu match from "The Doctor is In."

The Barbed wire match isn't that special until RVD wraps Funk in Barbed Wire. It's a bit anti-climactic. Kind of like the first time I watched the Foley-Taker HIAC.

As for Sabu-RVD, it's not the best match, though Sabu lives up to the "Suicidal, Homicidal" part of his introduction. I do like, though, that the match feels like it's being made up as it goes a long. A lot of spotfests feel to plotted, and it's nice to see one that doesn't

Real F'n Show - April 28, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
Is that the stretcher match?

whitemilesdavis - April 30, 2006 01:26 AM (GMT)
Rock and Roll Express vs. Arn and Ole in a cage from Starcade 86.

Very good 13 minutes. Kind of odd watching such a big match where none of the 4 guys involved had a body. You just don't see that often now. Not even on the indies.

Ikeda vs. Ishikawa - Ikeda Promotion 4/24/2005

Shit, I don't know the backstory between these two leading up to this match, or if there even was one, but aside from the opening handshake, one would think these two are avenging a death in the family or some shit. Just an insane match with sick fucking punches to the dome and running soccer punts to the face, unbelievable shit. Everything seemed like a struggle including the sweet amateur takedowns and realistic looking matwork, anyone out of the know would think this was a straight shootfight. At one point, Ikeda lands a high kick to Ishikawa's fucking face right in front of the camera and he crumbles to the mat. Ishikawa gets three sick backdrop suplexes in a row and follows that up with two enziguris to Ikeda's skull before locking in a crossface submission for the victory. Unreal fucking match, with TONS of potato shots abounding. I'd love to see an Ikeda vs. Finlay match.

Real F'n Show - May 9, 2006 11:32 PM (GMT)
Shibata vs. Nakajima - BIG MOUTH 4/19/2006

Damn was this fun. Two of my current favorites on the Puro scene just laying into each other. Stiff strikes, nearfalls, just motherfucking Puroresu at it's finest. Shibata's basically the main reason I order these shows, as he has yet to disappoint me. I was even more impressed with Nakajima though. For being only 18, this kid is going to be GOOD. Along with Go, Namiguchi, KENTA and others, this is the future of Japanese wrestling right here. Those four could be the next generation's Big Four ala Misawa, Kawada, Kobashi, and Taue if they keep improving by leaps and bounds. Go and Nakajima especially as those two already know how to work a match without all the fancy MOVES~! and just flat out tell a story. Nakajima is already almost a Kawada-lite with some Kensuke influence, I really can't say enough about this kid. Plus his german suplex bridge is BOSS. I love me some stiff wrestling.

Real F'n Show - May 18, 2006 02:23 AM (GMT)
Sasaki/Murakami vs. Suzuki/Fujiwara - BIG MOUTH LOUD 4/19/2006

This was pretty much a battle of asshole pricks and grumpy fucks who like to kick the shit out of each other, for my specific enjoyment. It's a shame BML supposedly isn't drawing well, as their cards are awesome. This and Shibata/Nakajima are worth the price of admission alone. Fujiwara bladed at one point and this kept my interest throughout. This is just a battle and I'm really loving the style of the Pro Wres BIG MOUTH is bringing to the table, sort of like a worked-shoot style with just a little more pro wrestling and a little less MMA involved. Really it's probably my favorite style going right now as everything looks like a struggle such as battles for suplexes and stiff matwork and kicks. Really great stuff, especially if you're into your wrestling looking more "real" although I'm not completely convinced these guys are faking it. Check out BIG MOUTH LOUD, it rocks.

Was bored last night and watched Rise and Fall of ECW again. Just a great documentary. Was in a super ECW mood with all the talks lately, so I went out today and picked up Forever Hardcore.

It was great. Definitely the companion peice many have suggested, and it was great to hear from guys like Raven, Douglas, Sandman, and especially Sabu. I don't know why, but I especially loved pretty much all of them shitting on Tazz.

So many great stories, which I didn't find Rise and Fall to really have. Loved Kash's story about Tazz getting pissed at him, and Francine and Douglas talking about working the boys and then hating each other. Raven was extremely entertaining as well. If this thing had access to the ECW library, it would've whipped Rise and Fall's ass.

I'm about to go watch the special features, which has more documentary, and some matches, I think from XPW or some shit, I'm not sure. Definitely worth checking out if you're an ECW enthusiast, and it only set me back 15 bucks at Best Buy.

dynamite kido - May 18, 2006 09:17 PM (GMT)
I've been meaning to check that out for a while, but I wondered if it was worth picking up........

jamiegeist - May 18, 2006 10:59 PM (GMT)
Definitely was, and I just finished the special features as well, which are just more stories, unclipped basically. Kid Kash had tons of good stuff, and nothing beats New Jack telling you how he stabbed a dude and would do it again, as well as beating an old man with a baseball bat. That cat is fucked up.

Still haven't checked out the matches, although I'm not expecting much.

Just downloaded a few torrents:

Eddie v Lesnar from NWO 04, which I had never seen. GREAT work on the knee by Eddie and consistent selling. Hated the Goldberg run in, otherwise a great match.

Low Ki v KENTA - ROH Final Battle 05 - December 05. Holy SHIT. This was fuckin awesome. This is the kind of thing I expected when I heard everyone humping Joe/Kobashi to death. This match was the balls, and fucking stiff as a brick too. Great great great great.

Watching ROH Dragongate Challenge from 03/30/06 I believe.

Just finished an INCREDIBLE just fuckin hot match between Generation Next (Aries, Strong, Evans) and Blood Generation (CIMA, Yoshina, Doi) that was just nonstop 16 minutes of killer action.

The dragongate guys stole the show with some amazing double and triple team action. Generation Next was great, with Evans getting his ass just POUNDED for a huge portion of the match. Super hot finish with tons of near falls. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Show has been pretty good otherwise. Sydal & Styles v Dragon Kid & Horguchi was okay, but was very spotty and had 1 or 2 blown spots. Shelley & Jimmy Rave v Danielson & Delirious was quite fun. Jimmy Yang v Ryo Saito was good, but a bit short. BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs had a grudge match that had some SICK spots in it, including Whitmet top rope powerbombing Jacobs, but shifting him momentum to the outside, and aiming Jacobs for the top turnbuckle on their way down. Jacobs grazed the turnbuckle, NAILED his head on the apron, and both collapsed to the floor. In-fucking-sane.

And Joe v Daniels is up next in the Main Event Grudge Match.

Lovin it.

Yeah, the Dragon's Gate guys totally stole the show that entire weekend. I didn't go to the 3/30 show, but 3/31 and 4/1 were both off the charts awesome. Can't wait for the DVDs.

Nakajima vs.Suzuki - AJPW 4/15/06

This was really fun, the best Nakajima match this year besides the Shibata one in my opinion. Suzuki plays the token assbeater to Nakajima's helpless kid, destroying him with the various surly kicks, knees, and slaps that make Suzuki awesome. Suzuki applies some pretty basic submission holds in the match, such as a camel clutch and rear chinlock, but he's able to make them look like the most painful moves ever, really wrenching back and grinding his fingers into Nakajima's face. I thought he was going to break Nakajima in half with the camel clutch. This had a great sequence with Nakajima hitting his beautiful german suplex bridge for a nearfall before trying again but Suzuki fights it off so Nakajima settles for a schoolboy for a close 2 before Suzuki gets a jujigatame out of the kickout. Suzuki eventually finishes the youngster off with a sweet choke throw into a grounded sleeper for the win. Both of these guys are awesome and this was definately not a let down. Great match.
