Big F'N Swigg - April 2, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
Ok, Jarrett REALLY needs to get over saying "Lethal Lockdown"

Big F'N Swigg - April 2, 2006 08:45 PM (GMT)
Also, someone needs to tell Jarrett that when all the faces come out, he needs to act just a bit scared. It makes the whole thing a little better for the fans when the heels get scared

Mad Dog - April 3, 2006 01:42 AM (GMT)
When this feud with Konnan is over they really need to consider making Bob Armstrong a manager. He's surprisingly good on the mic.

SamoaRowe - April 3, 2006 04:26 PM (GMT)
I really liked the Abyss beatdown of Christian in his own home. I thought that was a surprisingly refreshing segment and the Alex Shelley involvement made it more realistic. Kudos to TNA.

And yeah, it wouldn't kill Jarrett to act vulnerable once in a while.

Wait... you mean someone did a beatdown AWAY from the arena and a professional camera crew wasn't there?

OK, I'm starting to appreciate TNA's booking again.

jamiegeist - April 3, 2006 08:31 PM (GMT)
Yeah, this Shelley thing brings some much needed realism to these "away from the ring" segments.

And Shelley and Joe were just brilliant in their interaction in the 4 way match. And why the hell would you clip that. Just weak. I loved Shelley's crotchgrab of Sabin, and then he went to tag Joe, and Joe wouldn't tag his skanky balls-hand, so Shelley gave him the other one instead. Then Shelley blind tags back in on Joe, and kind of pretends to fight him, like "Oooh, I could've kicked you, Haha!" and then Joe looks at him like "You dumb fucker" and kicks the shit out of him.

Great shit. Shelley really should've won that thing and faced Daniels on the Thursday show.

Mad Dog - April 4, 2006 03:48 AM (GMT)
Yeah, the shakey cam thing really helped with that whole beatdown segment. Honestly Abyss is what Kane should've been for all these years.

I even thought AMW/James Gang was surprising good for what it was. They had pretty good chemistry in the ring.

jamiegeist - April 4, 2006 05:02 AM (GMT)
Yeah, they seemed to be at least trying, and it was a nice little throwaway match.

eStragand - April 4, 2006 05:14 AM (GMT)
Maybe it's because it's on late at night and I have zero expectations, but I'm reallly digging Impact lately.

I like how their feuds are primarily based on annymosity over a BELT. The Abyss-Christian thing started over a title shot. I like that kind of booking.

I've heard maybe one (very short) promo from Joe...but he's the most beliveable bad-ass in rasslin' today. After he won the 4-way, it was like he said "fuck this, outta my way! I'm gonna' beat the piss out of Daniels".

But, at the end of this weeks' show, when AJ, Dutt, Sabin and Lethal appeared on the stage, well that just reeked of GAY-ness. I expected them to say "Jeffy- helloooooo!" Probably because they were all posed over AJ in weird ways and Dutt had that faggy hat on.

Sorry, but I'm still a Sting mark. I like how there's a whole slew of people who're pissed at Jarrett. It's not just coincedental booking, as there's quite a few guys he could pick for his team. I'm guessing he picks Rhino, AJ and Killings. And yeah...that's a match I'd wanna' see.

jamiegeist - April 4, 2006 05:21 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I agree. Impact was very good and very fun.

I agree on Joe just finishing his match and heading directly for Daniels. And speaking of gay, Daniels has to be the gayest-dressed wrestler on earth. Maybe its just his body shape or something, but he looks flaming.

And yeah, Lethal hovering over Sonjay while Sonjay sported his gay hat and AJ was down in the crouch position was definitely gay.

Almost as gay as Killings saying "Whatsup, Whatsup" 18 times in the microphone and going into a full on rap.

Big F'N Swigg - April 4, 2006 01:56 PM (GMT)
What sucks is that they used spotlights. Which made it look like they knew it was going to happen. And then Jarrett tried to be a hard ass for the whole thing.

And Shelley taping stuff=best explanation for out of arena tapings.

eStragand - April 4, 2006 03:29 PM (GMT)
Another nice, small touch: when Shelley set up his camera before the 4-way match, he actually set it up with a decent filming angle (remember the camera zooming in on the preview screen).

If it was WWE, they'd have him just put it anywhere and then he'd feud with Goldust over who was the better director.

Scrooge McSuck - April 4, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)
Goldust wasn't the director, Marlena was. :D

jamiegeist - April 4, 2006 08:21 PM (GMT)
*FART*

The Last Free Voice - April 6, 2006 05:14 PM (GMT)
The Thursday shows start tonight, yes?

jamiegeist - April 6, 2006 06:28 PM (GMT)
Oh shit, it does?

Sonofabitch TNA sucks at promoting anything.

Mad Dog - April 6, 2006 07:15 PM (GMT)
Next week....

whitemilesdavis - April 6, 2006 07:28 PM (GMT)
That's what I was thinking.

Nope, it's April 13th.

The Last Free Voice - April 6, 2006 10:18 PM (GMT)
Oh. Good. Don't have to miss the Daily Show and Colbert Report.

Cage Classic - April 9, 2006 07:16 AM (GMT)
We started with Styles/Abyss. This match was pretty good, and for once, Styles wasn't flipping to just flip. Everything he did made sense in this match. It's one of the better Impact matches we've seen thus far. I am confused as to why they made this the opening match, because the entire match and segment was a perfect way to end the show. I am sick of Christian getting overlooked by Steiner/Sting, etc. He is the NWA CHAMPION. Yes, I mark for the man, but as World Champ, he deserves some respect. Christian pulling up in his nice SUV with a tire iron was nice, and then when he showed up in the ring, Abyss' facial expression owned. Christian's promo was the perfect way to send the show home, but not. Oh well, the match was decent enough, and I'll give it **1/2. The segment was a feud builder.

I am SO fucking sick of Team 3D. I am not excited for this feud. It's continuance sucks. This is Dudleyz/La Resistance part two, and even then it wasn't entertaining. Their schtick is as stale as Gunn and Dogg.

I just noticed, LAX's music is a rip of Konnan and the Filthy Animal's WCW theme music. Lame. Bullet Bob, Road Dogg, and Mr. Ass suck. Everyone in the ring, sucks except Homicide. You gotta hand it to Bullet Bob though. He's in damn good shape for 94. Hotstuff Hernandez debuts. Nobody cares, and neither do the TNA fans because they were silent. Pwned at life. DUD segment. Worthless. Pointless. Geigh.

Larry Suckbysko still sucks. New guy in TNA management? Replace Zbyzsko, please.

Smiley and Shark Boy against Diamonds in the Rough. Jobbers galore. Steiner ruins their lives. Nobody cares. Steiner is fucking gross.

X-Division contest was decent, but nothing special. ** Shelley > Strong > Stevens, so the right guy won.

I laughed when Sting said he loved TNA and TNA on Spike. He loves Spike's money and the fact that he's getting paid more than anyone else in the company and he's wrestled ONE match in the 5 months he's been under contract. The crowd started chanting Goldberg. Please, no. I beg, please no. The ending of the show was cool, but I prefered the Christian ending better. Maybe because the champ deserves the most focus.

Overall, a lackluster match, a good match and a bunch of lackluster segments with ONE good one. This show sucked.

1/5

Mad Dog - April 9, 2006 02:40 PM (GMT)
I think Hernandez being signed was a good idea. He's not that great but he's the size that LAX needs.

I have to admit, Bob Armstrong is in incredibly impressive shape. Sitting there I was thinking that he could probably legit take Konnan in arm wrestling.

whitemilesdavis - April 9, 2006 06:39 PM (GMT)
Thaks for the review Cage Classic. So did Sting ever say who his partner was gonna be?

eStragand - April 9, 2006 11:48 PM (GMT)
Will they be running a repeat of the Thursday show? Or will it only be on Thursday night, and that's it?

SamoaRowe - April 10, 2006 01:40 PM (GMT)
Aside from the arm wrestling segment, I thought this week's show was pretty good. Abyss/Styles was good, the X-division match was interesting (to me, I guess, I would've said higher than **) and I thought Christian and Sting's promos were effective and good for hyping up what could be TNA's most ordered PPV ever.

Scrooge McSuck - April 14, 2006 06:16 AM (GMT)
Please tell me they still show replays of Impact on monday. I forgot all about the move to thursday! AHHH!

jamiegeist - April 14, 2006 06:56 AM (GMT)
My DVR loves me, and I'll be watching it tomorrow. Or maybe right now, hell.

And yeah, I dug impact as well this past week. I really enjoyed the 3-way X Division. Alex Shelley is just one of the funnest performers for me to watch right now. So many hidden highlights in there. The guy is awesome.

Stevens looked pretty good too, havent seen much action from him in a long time.

I think they might be replaying it still on the old Saturday night slot, or maybe later on Sat night.

jamiegeist - April 14, 2006 06:56 PM (GMT)
Holy Crap! You guys have to watch Impact! for those of you who missed it.

I just finished the opening contest, and I had to come comment. That was a terrific fuckin match from Joe and Daniels, even JIP 4 minutes, and with a commercial break. Just awesome.

That really is the kind of opening they needed. If people caught this, this is the kind of match you would call friends and tell them about. This could end up being a big turning point for TNA.

TV MOTY so far, hands down, as I can't think of anything that even compared.

Big F'N Swigg - April 16, 2006 01:24 AM (GMT)
I had two problems with the opening match:

1) Not seeing the beginning fucks up your viewing. I don't care if they did put it up on the web. NOT FUCKING COOL. Thanks to the clipping, anyone who hasn't been watching TNA could think that Daniels is just a chump who got lucky when he got the belt.

2) This could go into the "WWE Style" argument, but they needed to slow it down a bit to increase the amount of drama. I really liked the match, but I didn't have any chance to REALLY root for anyone to get up before they got pinned or anything like that. But other than that, one hell of an outing from Joe & Daniels

Haha. I don't wanna start an argument, so I won't mention how ironically correct that statement is.

Oh shit, I just did. Joe > Daniels.

Scrooge McSuck - April 16, 2006 03:02 AM (GMT)
Lame... they joined the match in progress? I thought you meant they started the match, then took a commercial. They actually STARTED the show with the match in progress.

Re-fuckin-tarded.

Edit: And Daniels blades 10 seconds into the show. That's got to be a fucking record.

jamiegeist - April 16, 2006 07:19 AM (GMT)
Nah, it was pretty sweet actually.

If I was joining a match in progress for the first time in many years, and a guy was giving the fucking Ole' (that's Joe nailing Daneils with a kick to the face, into the guard rail I might add) and a massive bladejob, I'd be hooked as hell.

Scrooge, try watching the fucking match before you try to get on here and act all high and mighty about how lame it was. You re-fuckin-tard.

Scrooge McSuck - April 16, 2006 07:26 AM (GMT)
I did watch it. It wa stupid to join an important match in progress and on top of it take a commercial break. Dickhead.

jamiegeist - April 16, 2006 07:28 AM (GMT)
Oh sweet jesus. You watched a match before ragging on it for a change? I'm amazed, and impressed.

I actually thought it was brilliant to join a match in progress. I thought it would hook the common viewer and not even give them the chance to switch channels. The first thing you see is a great spot, featuring a guy bloodying another guy up against the guard rail, and then going to town on him.

Had me hooked immediately, and I was automatically into the match.

But why do you think it was a bad idea?

jamiegeist - April 16, 2006 07:30 AM (GMT)
Oooooh, Scrooge with the edit of doom. I'm onto you Mr. Goblin. The commercial break I could've done without, true. But I also understand that SPike and TNA have to make their money. They had me hooked, so nice commercial break. Alot better than a break during a boring as shit match that I don't have any interest in on RAW.

Scrooge McSuck - April 16, 2006 07:38 AM (GMT)
I didn't like the idea because how everyone claimed it as a great match. It was good, from what was shown that is (especially the last 4-5 minutes), but I can't fully get into a match if I don't see the start. They could've just done 2 short commercial breaks during the slower portions of Joe's offense, since it lasted nearly 10 minutes when counting commercials.

Comments for the rest of Impact:

AMW/3D was what you would expect from them. A decent brawl that the Dudleys have done a million times better, and just what TNA needed... the debut of the man formerly known as Spike Dudley.

Sting/Young was good for what it was, and Young bumped like a champ.

Glad to see Killings put into the main event. I haven't watched Imapct in a few weeks, but the last time I did he was jobbing in 6-Man tags on Impact and barely winning matches on Xplosion.

Edit: And Impact was better than Raw. No point in trying to act like I'd say differently.

Edit Again: What bugged crawled up your butt tonight? :D

jamiegeist - April 16, 2006 07:40 AM (GMT)
Yeah, a great impact, with a wonderful opener. Like I said, I would be going bonkers if we saw that match uncut. As is, it was a wonderful match, with great pacing and storytelling, that brought the house down with near falls. Absolutely dominated anything on WWE tv lately.

The rest of the show really served it's purpose and got the job done, and the Sting squash even got the up-and-comers involved, in Young and Shelley. Great Impact.

jamiegeist - April 16, 2006 07:41 AM (GMT)
Super edit again.

Scrooge is on the ball with me tonight.

Scrooge McSuck - April 16, 2006 07:42 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't go that gah-gah over Joe/Daniels. While I admit I got into the match about halfway through when the story of the match started coming together, the serious edit jobs dragged it down a notch. I'd still add it to my ***+ lists, considering Flair/HHH did, and that probably wasn't if I was paying more attention.
