Description: FIRST SINGLE NOW ON WEB! LINK!
The Last Free Voice - March 29, 2006 04:18 PM (GMT)
SCORE~! AFI, through their myspace blog, have confirmed that their new CD will be called "Decemberunderground" and will be out June 6th of this year. The first single will be "Miss Murder" and should be out next month.
I, for one, am stoked. This means touring soon. Real soon. Hopfully they'll stop near me, so I don't have to wade through Warped Tour just to see them.

Yeah, between Tool, The Cure and AFI this year's shaping up to be a good one for music. Plus Tiger Army and Rise Against possibly putting out disks this year... Man.

Yeah, that's a helluva line up. I'm definitly getting Tool, and I may or may not end up getting AFI.
The Last Free Voice - April 2, 2006 01:50 AM (GMT)
I'm probably picking up both, unless Tool's single really turns me off.
SamoaRowe - April 2, 2006 01:59 AM (GMT)
I'll pick up Tool regardless of my approval of the first single. I've been craving some new material from them since 2001, so I'll take what I can get for now :)
The Last Free Voice - April 2, 2006 02:23 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I totally understand. I'm teh same way with AFI. I'm not totally sold on Tool, is all. I've only heard Aenemia, and can't find any of their other stuff for a decent price anywhere around me, and I'm not paying out the ass for a CD I'm not sure I'll like, you know? So all I really have to judge them on will be the first single.

Yeah, Tool is probably one of those bands who you'll either love or just not be able to get into. However, if you were to come across Lateralus, I can safely recomend that one due to it's consistent awesomeness. Song for song, it's remarkable, their best album yet.

Lateralus is simply amazing. There's not a bad song on that CD.
Not to mention it's not as angry as their other albums.

SINGLE HITS THE AIRWAVES! Well, the interweb waves. The band gave the OMB and AFI Series boards to post this link, so enjoy:
http://rapidshare.de/files/17949969/01_Miss_Murder.mp3.htmlDiscuss. I quite like it. The music sounds a bit greenday ish, which I don't think is a bad thing at all. Some people don't like the screaming, but it doesn't really bother me.

MUSICAL GENIUS BITCHES~!
(this was a shot at myself to save WMD the effort).
But seriously, I'm not sure what to think of the new Tool album's title (sounds too Disturbed-esque for me) but Tool never disappoints and Maynard in general has only disappointed me once (the most recent APC)...
...So how many times will this album get pushed back?

Actually, from all the news I've read, they're at the stage where everything's ready to go. Album art has been released, track listing, and the first single's gettig debuted next week, so I'm thinking it's release is pretty finalized... I could be wrong though.
Real F'n Show - April 14, 2006 02:12 PM (GMT)
We'll then, that's pretty sweet, May 2nd is coming up fast too...
So, anyone know what the significance is of the title 10,000 days? Is that how long it's been since Lateralus was released or something?
And do you have a link to a track listing, LFV?

Awesome. I think I read somewhere that Vicarious is the first single, so we'll see how that goes...
The Last Free Voice - April 14, 2006 03:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah, they're supposed to debut it on KROQ Next monday night, I believe.
Did you happen to check out Miss Murder? I really like the song. It's catchy and kind of "radio-friendly" so it may be the one that cracks AFI into mainstream rock.
It's probably the most R-F song on the disk, if Sing the Sorrow's first single is any indication. I can't complain though, the song still rocks.
Real F'n Show - April 14, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
I listened to it. It was alright, though again, I'm not that big a fan of Davey's voice.
The Last Free Voice - April 14, 2006 05:26 PM (GMT)
Yeah. Lots of people aren't. He seems to be singing a bit lower on the song, possibly because of the cyst he got, which was the reason the CD took so long.
Real F'n Show - April 14, 2006 10:16 PM (GMT)
It's nothing personal against AFI really, I just don't like certain voices. I'm the same way with Coheed and Cambria...
The Last Free Voice - April 15, 2006 02:32 AM (GMT)
I can't STAND C&C. His voice is just grating, and musically they just annoy me.
The Last Free Voice - May 8, 2006 09:26 PM (GMT)
SOOOO... The Video for Miss Murder premiered on TRL today, and HOLY SHIT was it awesome. Best AFI video ever, in my opinion. Totally cinematic.
And the B-Side for the first single is a cover of "Don't Change" by INXS.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure that the video will be streaming on the MTV Overdrive website thing. Ya'll should check it out.

I know no one here cares, but I'm listening to the new album! Someone snuck in and recorded a listening party, and I must say, I'm loving it. Sound quality isn't great, but it's good enough. The CD sounds a lot more mellow than previous efforts, almost like The Cure. There are some harder moments, though. Kill Caustic, especially.
