Title: Abyss Leaves TNA
Description: Yay!
Scrooge McSuck - January 5, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
--"Abyss quit TNA last night and your speculation on what that means is correct. He's almost surely WWE-bound. His TNA contract had expired and for some reason it slipped up on people without a renewal. Johnny Swinger also asked for his release. We don't know if he got it or not, as Jeff Jarrett had turned down everyone under contract that had asked for their release up to this point."
From the Wrestling Observer site. Good news I guess... WWE could use a TALENTED hoss for once.
Real F'n Show - January 5, 2005 09:38 PM (GMT)
This COULD work, but I'm still sceptical on how he would be used. It is the WWE after all...
Scrooge McSuck - January 5, 2005 09:39 PM (GMT)
I know how he'll be used.
(HHH pins Abyss clean)
or
(Undertaker pins Abyss clean)
whitemilesdavis - January 5, 2005 09:48 PM (GMT)
I've still seen no hard evidence that Abyss has left TNA or WWE has signed him. I'll wait for further word.
Big F'N Swigg - January 5, 2005 11:12 PM (GMT)
Hmm..... Let's see how this plays out.
TehDoct0r - January 6, 2005 04:48 AM (GMT)
He could actually fit good in WWE, I think. But he'll have no AJ Styles there to feud with.
PedigreeMC - January 6, 2005 01:58 PM (GMT)
If done right the WWF could make alot of money off of him. Unfortunately after reading Bobcat's post he is probably right. They would have him fued with Taker for about two months and he would lose clean just like every other monster they build up for him.
Scrooge McSuck - January 6, 2005 02:13 PM (GMT)
Word is Abyss is staying with TNA... (cries) I want TNA to fail so bad by letting their best people leave, I could taste it.

And then on the other hand...
(Abyss pins Hurricane clean)
or
(Abyss pins Shannon Moore clean)
Damn, I hate how WWE is set up sometimes.
WrestlingDreams - January 6, 2005 05:12 PM (GMT)
i think wwe could use abyss very well in a tag team with kane
just think a but the brutality of that team and all the havoc they coul cause on raw
Scrooge McSuck - January 6, 2005 07:20 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the idea WD! (creates an Abyss CAW) MUWAHAHAHAHA...
The Last Free Voice - January 6, 2005 08:23 PM (GMT)
This is.... odd. Good luck to him, I guess.
And when did more people join? I disapear for awhile and everything's changed! Welcome to the TNA folder, I guess...
Scrooge McSuck - January 6, 2005 08:24 PM (GMT)
Holy shit, it's the Last Free Voice! (random surprise run in for TNA)
The Last Free Voice - January 6, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
Thank you, thank you. Mother nature can't keep me down forever.
TehDoct0r - January 6, 2005 08:53 PM (GMT)
Abyss could make Snitsky and Tomko looks like fucking tools. That's be fun to see.

Lol, Snitksy and Tomko ALREADY look like tools. Especially Tomko with his ripped upperbody and skinny chicken legs. Tools.
TehDoct0r - January 7, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
I mean by comparison :D
I'd still prefer DAVE though.

Maybe Christian can borrow Kurt Angles' chicken suit and have Tomko dress up as Big Bird.

Sure, except that he's about half their size.

I think he's going by appearence. Abyss looks like someone I'd shit my pants in front of.
Snitsky looks like he should be in a half-way house. All he is a big, dumb roided (notice the massive acne on his back), moron with a stupid beard. Tomko looks like some egyptian dude with chicken/girly legs.
The Shadow - January 7, 2005 04:58 PM (GMT)
"I'll be appearing as Big Show's brother soon!"
Scrooge McSuck - January 7, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
If that's Abyss unmasked (probably is), I hope to god he never unmasks... or get's rid of whatever the hell covers his man boobs. Old picture too, considering he has a big ass tattoo.
Or is that a really bad Big Show picture?
<---can't tell.
The Shadow - January 7, 2005 06:17 PM (GMT)
It's a picture of Abyss when he was wrestling as Prince Justice.
Scrooge McSuck - January 7, 2005 06:38 PM (GMT)
... Great, now I have a Big Show Brother idea in my head for something WWE would actually book.
It will just be a repeat of the "The Giant is Andre's son" angle from WCW, except "Blank Wrestler is The Big Shows brother"
Big F'N Swigg - January 7, 2005 11:20 PM (GMT)

That's funny. SOOOO funny.

It's official
Scrooge McSuck - January 8, 2005 01:00 AM (GMT)
WOOOH! Best of luck in the future... if he goes to WWE, he'll be making 100x whatever the hell TNA paid.
Here's a best of luck: Best of luck trying to get out of your TNA contract!
Scrooge McSuck - January 8, 2005 04:32 PM (GMT)
From Wade Keller...
"Abyss really upset TNA management on Tuesday. He showed up, pointed out that his contract expired last fall without them noticing, and he felt it was time for a raise. Sources say he told them that WWE had an offer on the table for him, and to keep him from taking that offer, they'd have to double his pay, said to be $500 per show. He wanted $1,000. That's a reasonable request, to be sure. TNA's policy is pay what they have to in order to keep talent, and since Abyss has no previous national exposure and no star-power outside of what TNA has done to promote his character, they didn't feel pressure to pay him as much as other main eventers in TNA who have more name recognition. TNA management, trying to keep the budget low since the promotion continues to lose money, spent a couple hours discussing the situation, but eventually they gave in and offered Abyss the raise he wanted. They gave him exactly what he asked for. However, rather than accepting the offer, sources say Abyss said he had to talk to WWE first and think about it. Within seconds, TNA management, so offended that he didn't accept what they felt was a generous offer, immediately pulled the offer from the table and sent him home. Abyss was willing to work the taping as scheduled, but TNA management didn't want to give Abyss any more leverage in negotiations since his slated match against Jeff Hardy hadn't been promoted yet. Abyss, who had a chance to earn $50,000 with TNA this year, may find himself out of a job, or working for half that money in WWE's developmental system, assuming there really is an offer waiting for him."
Well... he doesn't seem to be the brighest bulb in the house, but hey, stick it to the man, especially when it's a Jarrett. Hopefully he does land in WWE eventually, and will have financial security since TNA is dead in 10 weeks.
PedigreeMC - January 8, 2005 06:04 PM (GMT)
Seems like there was some bad business going on by both companies. If he gets used correctly by the WWF or signed at all I'll be surprised. He might have burned his bridge though which sucks for him since there are not a whole lot of other wrestling organizations around these days.
Scrooge McSuck - January 8, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
He made a smart move. He got national exposure, and I'm sure lots of Indy promoters in the states will use him. Unless TNA finds a new financial backer fast (and who will shell out money for a company thats lost $15 million dollars in 2 years?) or they will be dead by mid-March.
Captain Ass - January 9, 2005 12:50 AM (GMT)
I have never seen TNA so I don't know what Abyss can do in the ring, but I haven't heard anyone bash his workrate. That's what WWE needs more of, so I would be all for him going there.
Scrooge McSuck - January 9, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
He's pretty entertaining considering he's about 6'6" 350 lbs. and doesn't have too good of a physique. His finishing moves inclue the Black Hole Slam (basically the Boss Mans finisher except with a few extra spins before the drop), and a manuever where he puts someone in a torture rack position and executes a type of back breaker across his shoulders.
Also he had some pretty entertaining matches last year with A.J. Styles, and is willing to throw himself around for people smaller than him.

Workrate no, ringwork yes. He's not very good in the ring, but he can do some of the standard big man spots. He busts his ass though, and seems to be trying really hard, so you can't fault him for that.
