Title: Smackdown/Velocity Spoilers
dynamite kido - March 15, 2006 02:06 PM (GMT)
Velocity Taping
Test beat Sylvan: Test was in good shape and seemed very happy to be back. Was a pretty good opener. Test won it with the big boot.
Tatanka beat Big Vito: Tatanka was in better shape that I expected him to be and was one of the crowd favorites. Was a better match than you would've expected it to be. Tatanka won with the Penbrook Slam (Samoan Drop) after interference from Nunzio.
Paul London beat Brian Kendrick, Jamie Noble, & Kid Kash in a 4 Way Cruiserweight #1 Contenders Match: London pinned Kendrick with a rollup, but they shook hands afterwards. There was not one dive to the outside in the entire match, and maybe 2 or 3 top rope moves. Very disappointing considering who all was involved.
Gymini beat The Mexicools: Not even sure why this match happened. Gymini won with a weird looking double powerbomb type move.
Smackdown
Finlay beat Bobby Lashley in a Lumberjack-Money in the Bank Qualifying Match when Finlay hit Lashley with his stick (I don't know how you spell what it's actually called.) The face Lumberjacks were all little guys. The heels beat the crap out of Lashley every time he got thrown to the outside, but the faces never really stepped in and helped much. Lashley ended up cleaning house on the lumberjacks before it was all said and done. I'm not sure Lashley knows how powerful he is. I really don't think jobbing him out, even if it's screwjob finishes, is the right move. The dude has the explosiveness of Goldberg, with an actual legit background in wrestling to boot. He deserves a shot to run with the ball.
Matt Hardy beat Animal by DQ in a Money In the Bank Qualifying Match: Animal originally won but they reversed the decision when the ref saw the brass knucks Animal had used hidden under his arm. Animal wore biker clothes and jeans, with no paint.
Chris Benoit beat Orlando Jordan with the Sharpshooter. After the match, Bradshaw hit Benoit with a cooler and laid him out. The cooler was clearly a foam cooler and was empty, but Benoit sold it like he had been shot.
Booker T beat Jeremy Young: Young got no offense at all. After the match, the Boogeyman showed up but really didn't do anything other than eat worms and dance around.
Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio Jr. & Kurt Angle beat MNM & Mark Henry: Mysterio and Angle worked the entire match. Rey had just hit the 619 when out of nowhere, Orton RKO'd the dude Rey had hit the 619 on and pinned him.
POST-SMACKDOWN MAIN EVENT
Kurt Angle beat Randy Orton, Mark Henry, and Undertaker in a 4 Way Dance to retain the title. Angle pinned Orton after Taker had chokeslammed him. It was about a ten minute effrort. Taker was the fresh man out there, and he did his "Old School" bit, but other than that it was mostly punches and kicks. In the end, everyone hit their finishers, and Angle ended up getting on Orton while Taker was down. Passable main event

I hope that cooler spot with Benoit comes off better on tv than the spoiler guy described.
Hurray, Paul London wins a match! I suppose this means he gets a title shot next week and not at SNME or WrestleMania.

Bah, Smackdown stinks. How the flying fuck does Animal still have a job? It's bad enough he's about 15 years past his prime, but he's worthless without Hawk (and looks a bit out of shape, too).
whitemilesdavis - March 15, 2006 07:08 PM (GMT)
And he dogged Hawk last week. I'm just fed up with WWE's disrespect of the dead.

That's how WWE heel's attempt to get heat. They talk shit on DEAD people.
I'm not being a smartass either, it's just that it looks worse when you see that in writing.
whitemilesdavis - March 15, 2006 09:34 PM (GMT)
When you consider those dead people were beloved by wrestling fans.....
Scrooge McSuck - March 15, 2006 09:37 PM (GMT)
While we're still on the subject of Animal...
(sarcastic clapping) You know, when someone works the same gimmick for 23 years, odds are he doesn't know how to get over as anything else. Judging by this "new appearence" of Animal, they seem to be trying to bring his career back from the dead.
Note to WWE: It didn't work in 1998 either.

I thought it would be Noble/Helms at WM. I hope it still leads that way, although I wouldn't mind London either. I bet WM is just going to have another CW Open or something.
And speaking of disappointing...I'm not longer excited for MitB. i bet it'll still be good and all, but there's two 50 year old men in the match. (Yes, I do know Finaly isn't 50 yet, but he's getting close.) It feels like the wrong people are in that type of match. It'll still probably be good, but not with the people I would like to see in it.
dynamite kido - March 16, 2006 04:52 AM (GMT)
Apparently people STILL don't get how fuckin awesome Finlay is........

I didn't say he wasn't awesome, I'm just saying there'll be two 50 year old men in a match where it's going to be younger guys taking big bumps.

Finlay brings the intensity, something most ladder matches lacked. You do know you can have a good ladder match without falling on your neck 500 times.

True, but how will this compare to last year's MitB? Last year's MitB had a lot of spots, but not people falling on their necks, and they still did a lot. And it was with people who have done those sort of matches before.
Scrooge McSuck - March 16, 2006 05:25 AM (GMT)
When was the last time we had a 6-man free-for-all Ladder Match? That's why. It was bang-bang-bang action instead of 2 teams setting up spots 5 months in advance.

I think Finlay is just the latest in the never ending list of terribly overrated internet love fads. He's a solid lower-micarder. That's about it.

Dude, that's horrible. I don't let the internet influence ANYTHING in my wrestling watching. Finlay is someone that ACTUALLY understands the ideal of being a heel and he's a damn fine wrestler. PERIOD. Too bad they didn't let him comeback SIX years ago when he wanted to.
whitemilesdavis - March 17, 2006 06:40 PM (GMT)
My frustration is not pointed directly at you, more the people at other boards who hated guys like Finlay, Mark Henry...the list goes on, but now all of the sudden it's cool to be on their jock. I just get tired of hearing it.

Oh, I definately know what you mean. That's why I stated about the internet having ZERO influence on how I feel about guys. I'll be the first one to tell anyone that Mark Henry has been awful for years, but I'm diggin him right now (mainly because Dusty is booking SD and knows what to do with him and how he should be used) and he's done well in his recent role. Finlay on the other hand I've always had a soft spot (at least since that WCW parking lot brawl with Regal that rocks all kinds of socks) for and who is one of the better if not the best heel in the company right now. His feud with Lashley should be garbage, but he's actually doing a hell of a job with it. He looks like the prick heel and Lashley looks like the babyface monster...........it's great stuff.
whitemilesdavis - March 17, 2006 07:58 PM (GMT)
Well, I'll admit I haven't watched a great deal of Smackdown since he's been back, so that's one thing. Regal is another of those guys on the net love list. Anybody can like whoever they want, but jeez, it gets rediculous sometimes.
D.A.V.E. - March 18, 2006 12:38 AM (GMT)
Paul Burchill. His rope swing. His version of Chris Jericho's YEAH BABY Cover. The Walk The Plank.
I'm in love
