I have to admit, I've been intrigued by the Hero/ ROH situation.

"February 21st: Here is one last warning to Chris Hero and Necro Butcher. If you even think of showing up to try to ruin our fourth birthday celebration this Saturday in New Jersey, you will not walk out of the building. That is not a threat, it is a promise. We will hurt you and hurt you bad." Okay, it's obvious that Gabe typed this. But, what does that mean? Is Gabe, himself, going to get in my face and "hurt" me? Is Gabe Sapolsky going to hurt Necro Butcher bad? I would absolutely LOVE to see him try. As a matter of fact I would even buy a ticket to see that. Maybe Gabe can draw money after all. Imagine that! He wouldn't even need to promise everyone a HUGE life altering surprise that he can't follow through with. Ha. See this is what I'm thinking. This weekend is CHIKARA's Tag World Grand Prix. Claudio and I, the Kings of Wrestling, will be wrestling this Friday in the first bracket of the tournament. Of course we'll win but once we make it past the second round, we won't have to wrestle again until the third day of the event which takes place in Philly and on SUNDAY. Are you nerds thinking what I'm thinking? Hmm. As I said in NY, you'll never know where Chris Hero is going to show up. Maybe I'll make it to Edison, NJ this Saturday for the 4th Anniverary Show, maybe I won't. But see, just by saying this, I'm already on everyone's mind. All the in-arena talk and online discussion will be about ME, Chris Hero. That is how powerful I am. I cause controversy. I make waves. Say what you will about me, but I always deliver. And whenever and wherever I show up you can rest assured that things will never be the same. I piss on Ring of Honor. Maybe next time I show up I can pull something out of the Brian Pillman playbook. Chris Hero > ROH

Nothing from that show that I really want to see. Though it's better than the original Danielson/Ki/Daniels rematch from the first ever show match that Gabe wanted.

In ROH's defense, EVERY company books stale matches because either the promoter is too lazy or they don't have that much circulation of talent to keep it fresh. Example #1: TNA is going with Styles/Joe/Daniels combos again for the next two months. Styles/Daniels have been feuding for the better part of a year despite not having an angle. Example #2: WWE booked Cena/Angle into the ground the last 5-6 months.

The problem is that RoH went with a lot of stale matches. And several of these matches happened several times last year.

It just baffles me that they have such a potentially strong champion in Danielson and they've just pissed it away. He's had no good defenses and he should be doing what Joe did during his reign. I just don't know why there's such a lack of focus.

a) Handsome Johnny defeated Pelle Primaue B) Derek Dempsey & Rick Titus defeated Smash Bradley (no mask) & Jason King CZW is in the building! The students, post match, kicked out a CZW "fan" from the building. c) BJ Whitmer defeats Shane Hagadorn with a German Suplex, Dragon Suplex, Powerbomb combination in a match taped for ROHvideos.com Actual card: 1) The Briscoe Brothers defeat Tony Mamaluke & Sal Rinauro and Jason Blade & Kid Mikaze in about 8 minutes. Briscoes used a new finisher. 2) "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce won the Four Corner Survival with a splash off the top rope. There was a blown spot in the match that deflated the crowd. Match lasted about 10 minutes. Good match. 3) Samoa Joe defeats Jay Lethal with a musclebuster after 15 minutes. 4) Christopher Daniels vs BJ Whitmer went to a No Contest. After about 10 minutes, they brawled into the crowd. When attention was on the fight in the crowd, Chris Hero and other CZW wrestlers invaded the ring! Hero started trash talking to ROH fans. Then, students and early match competitors ran out and fought off the CZW. Eventually, Samoa Joe had Chris Hero in a choke. During the brawl, I believe the Briscoes attacked Rod Strong & Austin Aries. Colt Cabana and Homicide eventually took part in the brawl. They fought eachother on the ramp, and Todd Sinclair came out to start their "ghetto fight". 5a) Homicide defeats Colt Cabana in a "ghetto fight". After 10 minutes, Homicide got Cabana in a choke with a hanger. Todd SInclair rang the bell. Colt recovered, got on the mic, and challenged Homicide to come back out. He did. 5b) Homicide defeats Colt Cabana in a "ghetto fight". Homicide, after five minutes of more fighting, tied Cabana to the ring post somehow and hit him with a chair a couple of times until Todd Sinclair rang the bell. Cabana recovered later, and challenged Homicide to come back out again. He did. 5c) Homicide defeats Colt Cabana in a "ghetto fight". Julius Smokes poured rubbing alcohol all over Cabana's face, and Sinclair rang the bell. Homicide challenged Colt Cabana to a Fight Without Honor in Chicago. Intermission 6) Bobby Dempsey defeated Mitch Franklin with an DVD. 7) ROH World Championship American Dragon Bryan Danielson defeats Jimmy Rave. Danielson pinned Rave down to the mat and continuously jabbed elbows to Rave's face until the referee called for the bell. Danielson wins in 35 minutes. 8) Ricky Reyes beats Jack Evans in about 9 minutes with the Dragon sleeper. Evans did not wrestle in his normal gear. They announced that his flight was late from Japan, and he just arrived to the building. 9) Tag Titles Match Austin Aries & Roderick Strong defeat AJ Styles & Matt Sydal when Aries hits the 450 splash. Match lasts about 25 minutes. Afterwards, the Briscoes attacked Aries & Strong. Strong got hit with a doubleteam Jay Driller. Styles & Sydal ran off the Briscoes, and that completes the event. |
