Title: Best Coliseum Videos List
Description: List and Discuss Here...
Scrooge McSuck - January 3, 2005 07:25 PM (GMT)
Short and sweet, I'll start this because Old School/Back In The Day/Stuff No New Fans Will Watch needs traffic.
"Rowdy" Roddy Piper's Greatest Hits:
Probably my favorite Coliseum Video. Some great Pit segments with Andre The Giant, The Jobber He Destroys, Mr. T, Himself (he does a pretty funny one using the magic of television) and more. Also includes cool matches like the War to Settle the Score vs. Hogan, and an entertaining tag with him and David Schultz vs. Andre the Giant & Jimmy Snuka.
Best Of The WWF Vol. 11:
Includes on the tape is a very good 6-Man Elimination Match between Steamboat, Piper, and the JYD vs. Savage, Adonis, and Race. Also has Hogan & Piper vs. Orndorff & Race from the 11/86 MSG, a decent match between the Can-Am Connection and the Dream Team (Beefcake/Valentine) from the 1/87 MSG, and a shockingly entertaining Tuxedo Match between Hillbilly Jim and Mr. Fuji.
WWF High Flyers:
Quickie Coliseum Video, featuring matches between Randy Savage and Virgil, The Rockers vs. the Conquistadors, the Jumping Bomb Angels vs. the Glamour Girls, the Young Stallions vs. the Shadows, and the Blue Blazer & Koko B. Ware vs. Danny Davis & Jose Estrada. Nothing bad except the final match, which just seemed bland. You must note it featured High Enerygy Version 0.5 :D
Wrestlefest 1991:
Basically a two match tape. Marty Jannetty vs. Pat Tanaka from the 3/15/91 MSG and a KICK ASS Hart Foundation vs. Legion of Doom match, with the Foundation playing the heels in a breath of fresh air. Includes an inoffensive Warrior vs. Earthquake match, and decent Kerry Von Erich vs. Ted Dibiase match.
Monday Night Raw: Prime Cuts:
(From my Tape List, and yes, it's designed like John McAdams')
(WWF IC Title) SHAWN MICHAELS © vs. MARTY JANNETTY - From the 5/17/93 episode of Monday Night Raw. Great match, but not as good as the one a few months later. Jannetty wins the title in an upset, although the reign would last about 3 weeks. Rumors are Jannetty won the title as punishment to Shawn Michaels, but thats not 100% confirmed. ****
RAZOR RAMON vs. THE KID - From the 5/17/93 episode of Monday Night Raw. Squash match goes wrong as the Jobber Kid pins Ramon, and is later dubbed the 1-2-3 Kid.
(KOTR Qualifying Match) MR. PERFECT vs. DOINK THE CLOWN - From the 5/24/93 episode of Monday Night Raw. Good match as someone finally qualifies, when Perfect pins the switched Doink. ***
IRWIN R. SCHYSTER vs. P.J. WALKER - From the 9/20/93 episode of Monday Night Raw. See also the Kid vs. Razor Ramon, except Ramon distracts I.R.S.
(WWF Title) YOKOZUNA © vs. CRUSH - From the 7/12/93 episode of Monday Night Raw. Decent match, as Yokozuna puts Crush out of action and thus turns him heel in the process.
(WWF Tag Team Titles) THE STEINER BROTHERS © vs. THE QUEBECERS - From the 9/13/93 episode of Monday Night Raw. Quebec Province Rules where top rope moves aren't allowed, piledrivers aren't allowed, and you aren't allowed to throw someone over the top rope. Basically the WCW rules of 1992. You can also win by Count-out and DQ. Great match in a long hard worked match as Scott accidentally gets DQ'ed. ****1/4
20 MAN BATTLE ROYALE (Participants: Razor Ramon, 1-2-3 Kid, Marty Jannetty, Randy Savage, Mr. Perfect, Bob Backlund, Jimmy Snuka, Owen Hart, Mabel, Tatanka, Rick Martel, Giant Gonzalez, I.R.S, Diesel, Bastion Booger, Bam Bam Bigelow, Abe "Knuckleball" Schwartz, Adam Bomb, Jacques Rogeau, Quebecer Pierre) - From the 10/4/93 episode of Monday Night Raw. One of the best Battle Royales with some good spots as Ramon and Martel are the last two standing to become contenders for the vacant Intercontinental Title. ***
(WWF IC Title) RAZOR RAMON vs. RICK MARTEL - From the 10/11/93 episode of Monday Night Raw. good match as Ramon wins his 1st of four Intercontinental Titles with a victory over the recently returned Rick Martel.

Anyway, let's add on to the match and discuss the best tapes, and of course, the best matches.
MillenniumMan831 - January 28, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
Best of the WWF Volume 9 is a treat. Steamboat vs. Savage before the feud is greatness w/ blood. There's a 22 Man Battle Royal that interestingly enough comes down to about 6 faces staring down 1 heel. In a rare heel vs. heel match from Boston The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff take on The Hart Foundation. The rest is kinda crappy but whateva.
Scrooge McSuck - January 28, 2005 01:12 AM (GMT)
The best you could hope for with CV's are 2-3 good matches and a bunch of crap.
Wrestlevessel - January 28, 2005 01:31 AM (GMT)
Who can hate the Demolition Coliseum Video? I own the original copy and it rules and is pretty good.
MillenniumMan831 - February 5, 2005 03:30 AM (GMT)
I haven't seen the Demolition video, but my gripe would be that 3 out of the 6 matches are on fairly common ppvs (WMIV, SS88, and WMV). But the thought of having an original copy of the Demolition video w/ the box is pretty awesome.
Scrooge McSuck - February 5, 2005 03:37 AM (GMT)
If I'm forgetting, these are the matches, right?
Demolition v. Strike Force (WM IV)
Demolition v. Hart Foundation (SSlam 88)
Finaly 7-8 Minutes of Team Demolition v. Team PoP (SSeries 88)
Demolition v. HTM & Valentine (I think on a SNME?)
Demolition v. Bolsheviks
Demolition v. PoP & Fuji (WM V)
Definitely not too enticing for rare stuff. Only matches I don't have are the ones not on PPV, and niether looks at all interesting enough to hunt down for.
MillenniumMan831 - February 5, 2005 11:05 AM (GMT)
They also showed their 1st SNME match against the Brain Busters as well.
Peter North - February 5, 2005 11:50 PM (GMT)
I'm sure it's at least somewhat good, but anyone have any word on the Bret tap hey put out? I think it's simply called Bret "Hitman" Hart, and has stuff like him against Skinner and other mid-card guys for the most part. Anything stand out at all?
Scrooge McSuck - February 6, 2005 12:50 AM (GMT)
Advice: Don't touch the two Hart CV's. They suck... seriously suck. Bret Hart phoning it in for 7-8 matches on the 1994 release makes me want to whimper over my weenie, and the 1997 tape isn't much better.
Peter North - February 6, 2005 04:16 AM (GMT)
thanks for the advice, Hoss. I reckon I'm-a stay away then.
MillenniumMan831 - February 6, 2005 06:04 PM (GMT)
If you find them cheap, jump on them, but don't spend a lot of cash thinking you're gonna get Bret Hart's best matches. However, the Hart Foundation tape from 1987 is great.
Scrooge McSuck - February 6, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
Is it me, or were a lot of Bret's matches from 1992-1994 on CV really not too good?
Benoit is God - February 7, 2005 09:21 AM (GMT)
What matches are on these Bret tapes?
MillenniumMan831 - February 7, 2005 12:07 PM (GMT)
1994 --- CV matches against guys like IRS, Adam Bomb, Jerry Lawler, HBK (twice, once in a cage), Yokozuna from WMX, highlights from SS91 & KOTR93, and some other stuff. 2 hours.
1997 --- vs. Austin from SS96 (clipped), vs. Owen (Raw), vs. Sid (It's Time), and vs. Vader (Raw). Also has his music video and an in ring interview done w/ Jim Ross on Raw. 1 hour.
Scrooge McSuck - February 7, 2005 02:53 PM (GMT)
For 1997 tape, the match with Sid is pretty boring (it's Sid of course), and the match with Vader didn't quite meet its potential (this is post-nuetered Vader). The match with Owen is good, but short, and the match with Austin is clipped (I hate clippings).
Still better than the other.

"1994 --- CV matches against guys like IRS, Adam Bomb, Jerry Lawler, HBK (twice, once in a cage), Yokozuna from WMX, highlights from SS91 & KOTR93, and some other stuff. 2 hours."
Bret had a solid/decent match with IRS at least once. I remember seeing a good Bret-Lawler on a Raw in 93? or 94. Shawn in a cage...don't recall that being good. I think I'm the only person who loves Bret-Yoko from WMX. Not close to a classic, but it's sure good for a Yoko match.
"1997 --- vs. Austin from SS96 (clipped), vs. Owen (Raw), vs. Sid (It's Time), and vs. Vader (Raw). Also has his music video and an in ring interview done w/ Jim Ross on Raw. 1 hour. "
SS96...clipped? :( He had a few Owen matches on Raw; the one from 3/95 is real good. Never saw his Sid matches. The Vader one from 12/96 was a big disappointment.
Scrooge McSuck - February 9, 2005 06:50 AM (GMT)
The Owen match in Question was Brets return to RAW in November 1996.

I've never seen this, believe it or not. I actually have it on tape, but I skipped it to watch a Bret-Mankind match, which sucked. :(
