Title: Dear RoHbots

You're not in TNA's league anymore and it's extremely pathetic when you try and pretend these feds are on the same level. TNA's first house show is 2 months away and they've already sold as many tickets as the biggest crowd RoH has ever drawn. Please for my sanity just accept your place in the pecking order.

Scrooge McSuck - February 16, 2006 04:29 PM (GMT)
Dear RoHbots,

TNA has a national primetime T.V. deal (starting in April), generate PPV revenue, no matter how small it is, and has far superior production values. And they don't use Steve Corino anymore.

whitemilesdavis - February 16, 2006 04:33 PM (GMT)
They should, though.

Of course TNA would sell more tickets, just because they are on national TV.............otherwise, it wouldn't matter.

I know you're a TNA fan MD, but that's like saying the WWE is the best company in the world because they sell more house show tickets and PPV's than anyone....................which just isn't the case.

Mad Dog - February 16, 2006 04:58 PM (GMT)
It's in response to the people that act like TNA is jealous of RoH. Yeah, I'm sure TNA wants to give up that 1.1 rating, national PPV and national DVD distribution so they can run shows out of high school gyms and be a niche product.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - February 16, 2006 04:59 PM (GMT)
You're comparing apples and oranges here, I think. ROH is a small time talent base, TNA is a mid-level company with a TV deal, and the WWE is a monster. There are three extremely distinct levels between them, and I dunno that it's fair to pump up ROH or play it down.

whitemilesdavis - February 16, 2006 05:00 PM (GMT)
TNA has surpassed ROH since the RF incident. That hurt the company in more ways than anyone thought it would.

RoH fans are still living in the weekly PPVs world where the companies were comparable on some basis. Less than what they thought but still semi-comparable to each other. They still try to cling to some sense that RoH is a bigger company than TNA and that hasn't been true since TNA got on FSN and went to monthly PPVs.

whitemilesdavis - February 16, 2006 05:04 PM (GMT)
Roh fans also like to spout about TNA losing tons of money, which hasn't been the case for several months now.

Mad Dog - February 16, 2006 05:08 PM (GMT)
Yeah, TNA gets more money monthly from Morphoplex than RoH probably does total revenue. But finances were never a fair comparison. RoH doesn't put shit into their product. The production values are awful and the DVDs are barely above the calibur of what I do on a DVD recorder.

whitemilesdavis - February 16, 2006 06:09 PM (GMT)
Mad Dog don't like ROH.

Mad Dog - February 16, 2006 07:03 PM (GMT)
I want to like them but they make it really hard. I can't help but feel like I'm buying a second rate product whenever I get a RoH DVD. They supposedly make money but I've seen none of that money going back into the production values. They still have shitty cameramen, they still haven't plugged the mics into the cameras so you can actually hear ring promos. At least they finally got it so you can hear the music. The announcers still sound like they'd rather be anywhere but there. I look at smaller feds like Chikara and CZW and I see feds doing better production on their pieces.

Why should I drop $20 on an RoH DVD when I won't be able to hear the inring promos and run the risk of shoddy camera work.

SamoaRowe - February 16, 2006 07:07 PM (GMT)
I think the ROH dvds are just fine, aside from that it's hard to hear the mics. And if you ask me, the announcers usually sound a tad too enthusiastic, not anywhere close to sounding as if they want to be anywhere else.

Besides, the wrestling content is usually top-notch.

Mad Dog - February 16, 2006 07:08 PM (GMT)
I might take the mic thing back. It appears with the Low Ki/KENTA match I have that they actually finally figured out how to plug the mics into the camera. If they accomplish that I withdraw part of my complaint about the DVDs except that they're still too pricey at $20.

At least you admitted that TNA is a national promotion. That took you long enough.

In RoH Jarelle Clark looks like a threat in the ring, but gets squashed in TNA. ANd there other wrestlers who can wrestling in RoH, but aren't allowed to look good in TNA or WWE.

You shouldn't drop that much $$$ on any promotion if you don't want to. You could easily get bootlegs that have the same quality as their DVD's. I'm not saying that you shouldn't support a company that really depends on this revenue, but then again, why should you as a wrestling fan be deprived of stuff you want to see because you can't afford it?

Mad Dog - February 16, 2006 10:48 PM (GMT)
I feel guilty about cheating the feds of the actual revenue.

It's not plugging the mics into the camera, it's plugging them into the soundboard. And usually, if you're doing something live, AND you want to tape it, you need two soundboards. A cheap soundboard is around 5-10 THOUSAND dollars. So I can understand that. Though I REALLY think that audio is the VERY FIRST thing you should improve when you start working on DVD's, etc.

Mad Dog - February 21, 2006 10:04 PM (GMT)
Ah, I wasn't sure of the exact specifics of it. I blame that on RF for the early parts. He didn't invest any of the money back into the product. Though Gabe and co. haven't done a much better job either. At least they've redone the early DVDs and made them less shitty.

Funny thing is, once ROH started putting out shoots and they were automatically compared to the old RFVideo ones, they looked 10x better................because ROH actually used good equipment. Unlike RF who for whatever reason apparently was still using a old Sears VHS Cam.

Mad Dog - February 21, 2006 11:02 PM (GMT)
I would like to see RoH invest in a set of some kind like CZW has.
