Title: All-Time Tag Team Tournament
Description: 32 teams enter, 1 prevails
jamiegeist - February 16, 2006 07:22 AM (GMT)
An idea I've actually been kicking around trying to do for a while. This is the DWB All-Time Tag Team Tournament. 32 teams, as ranked by a pretty large polling (14) of wrestling scholars over at 411mania we'll be entered into a single elimination tournament to have a little fun, and see how the Tag Teams measure up here among OUR wrestling scholars. I'll give you the full bracket here, and will post probably 4 matchups a day. Please try to vote for all of them, so we get a full polling for everyone. I know we have alot of voting going on around here lately, but I really wanted to do this , and 411mania took care of the hardest part, seeding them.
You can use this link and the drop down menus at the bottom for reference to teams, members, title histories, etc.
http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/columns/...es:-#40-#31.htmAnd please, no bitching about the source, or about their list, or any of that. 14 people is quite a few to take the results from, so I think it is a pretty accurate list regardless. Discussion is ALWAYS welcomed though, and we have some pretty awesome first round matchups:
1. Road Warriors
32. Fabulous Ones
17. Hardy Boys
16. The Outsiders
9. Brain Busters
24. The Fantastics
25. Doom
8. Dudley Boys
5. Rock N Roll Express
28. The Funk Brothers
21. Minnesota Wrecking Crew
12. Hollywood Blondes
13. Demolition
20. The Brisco Brothers
29. Los Guerreros
4. The Midnight Express
3. Steiner Brothers
30. Wild Samoans
19. Miracle Violence Connection
14. Edge & Christian
11. New Age Outlaws
22. Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith
27. Americas Most Wanted
6. Hart Foundation
7. Fabulous Freebirds
26. The Eliminators
23. Money, Inc.
10. The Rockers

I'm assuimg the version of the Fabulous Freebirds included here isn't te Hayes/Garvin combo from 1989-1992. :D
Some interesting picks, and I see Eddie's death managed to get people to B.S. their way into thinking Eddie/Chavo, who were a team for MAYBE a year (as a serious team) is in the Top 32 of all time.

Wouldn't that be Eddie / Art Barr?
EDIT: Woops, missed Los Gurerreros. That's rediculous.

Yeah, I wanted to use my creative liscense to boot a few of these and include a few that just missed -- but I decided I was gonna try and leave my thoughts out of it.

The lack of Puro is again pissing me off...
We all know the Holy Demon Army would mop up.
jamiegeist - February 16, 2006 08:38 PM (GMT)
Wasn't Dale Torborg, the KISS Demon in that group?

Only if you want to call Toshiaki Kawada or Akira Taue that. And even then, you would recieve a stiff kick or nodowa otoshi...

Well, it IS a bit unfair to include the Puro teams....................especially because most of them just teamed in tourneys and such.............they weren't consistantly tag team ONLY for years like many of the ones on this list.

Did you mean British Bulldogs defeat Los Gringos Locos? Hm, I don't think I voted in the Money Inc./Rockers poll.
jamiegeist - February 20, 2006 06:03 AM (GMT)
Yes I did. I apologize for the fuckup, and it has been edited out.
Real F'n Show - February 20, 2006 04:29 PM (GMT)
So what happens as a result of the draw?
jamiegeist - February 20, 2006 04:38 PM (GMT)
Just a blank space on the board. The next round opponent will get a bye.
