Title: How long have you watched wrestling?
Description: Seeing what we all have in common

PedigreeMC - January 1, 2005 06:02 PM (GMT)
I am 24 now and have been watching since I was 6 years old back in 86. I started watching WWF because of the ole Hulkster and it really hooked me. Then I wanted to watch anything that was wrestling related and started watching Ric Flair and Co on WCW which came on alot more down here in the South. Heck, they used to do Clash of the Champion shows right down the road from me at the McAlister Fieldhouse here in Charleston.

Somewhere around the 17 or 18 year mark for me.

How about you guys?

Scrooge McSuck - January 1, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
I've been watching since 1988 when I was a wee little kid. I remember seeing Survivor Series 1988 live, but up until I finally bought a copy I had no idea about anything on it except for the Demolition/PoP and the Mega Powers storyline break-up.

Didn't start watching WCW full-time until 1990 where my first storyline happend to be THE BLACK SCORPION vs. STING FEUD! Blech...

I don't watch much indies, because it just looks so horrible compared to WWE's production.

So about 16 years, with a few couple of month breaks along the road.

Mad Dog - January 1, 2005 07:03 PM (GMT)
It'll be 9 years as of March.

Big F'N Swigg - January 1, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
I've been watching since I was a kid. My uncle got me into it, and I was addicted. I watched Superstars, WCW and SMW (I lived in East Tennessee). I also rented EVERY WWF PPV my local video store had. And that was a lot.

From WCW I remember seeing the "Yellow Dog" angle, Cactus Jack vs. Sting, and the ever imposing debut of Vader.

Everything I remember in WWF seems mixed up b/c I watched the PPV's.

Real F'n Show - January 1, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
9 years. The first show I can remember seeing was the Survivor Series '95 with Bret vs. Diesel. Good times...

TehDoct0r - January 2, 2005 09:21 PM (GMT)
Well, I've been around wrestling my whole life basically. My great-uncle worked for the northeast territories, tagging with Ivan Putski for awhile in Vince Sr.'s company. He never got huge, but he kept the family interested. The first match I really remember watching was an Ultimate Warrior IC Title defense against somebody. Musta been around 1990.

The Shadow - January 3, 2005 03:06 PM (GMT)
Started watching somewhere around Starrcade 83.

JD Storm - January 6, 2005 08:06 AM (GMT)
i watched regularily around the time of the first Clash of Champions......fall of 88, i think....though, i'm probably off on my timing. watched occassionally, before that.....though the Clash was what got me hooked.

i'd say i've watched for 15-16 years, now.

Captain Ass - January 6, 2005 08:10 AM (GMT)
25 years and counting....

S.T. Strickler - January 13, 2005 11:10 PM (GMT)
I've been watching since I was at least 8 1/2 years old. My brother got me hooked on it, 'cause he was watching for awhile before me. From what I can remember, it all started in February of '93, in which I believe I saw the "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. Yokozuna match on SuperStars where Duggan gets banzai-dropped four times. From there on, I became totally hooked on wrestling. From the week after WrestleMania IX up to the day of the King of the Ring, I must've taped every WWF SuperStars, Mania, Raw, and All-American Wrestling shows. Then in the Summer of '93, I caught my first view of WCW, which I also watched until its dying days. So for me, I've been a fan for 12 years coming next month.

dynamite kido - January 13, 2005 11:45 PM (GMT)
I've been watching for about 19 years as I got into wrestling in and around 1985. I started watching wrestling with my grandparents when they used to babysit me as a kid. I've been hooked ever since.

Peter North - January 15, 2005 10:55 PM (GMT)
I'm 25, started watching shortly before WM2, been hooked ever since. Never took a break from watching, even through the really shitty periods.

Benoit is God - January 21, 2005 02:58 AM (GMT)
I hate all of you for watching longer than me. ;-)

May, 2001. WWF Raw.

TehDoct0r - January 21, 2005 08:24 PM (GMT)
2001? And you already believe that Benoit is the greatest wrestler alive? I feel sad for you. You missed out on markdom. I wish I could go back..... damn internet.

Big F'N Swigg - January 21, 2005 11:50 PM (GMT)
There are times I wish I could go back. But then I listen to the marks talk about wrestling, and I'm kind of thankful I'm not that naive.

Mark: OMG! I love Rene Dupree! Eddie Guerrero sux!9299892LOL2005!

What?! More like the complete opposite. My brother (a mark) doesn't even know Dupree's name. He calls him "That French Faggot".

Scrooge McSuck - January 22, 2005 02:26 AM (GMT)
That's not bad.

I STILL don't know which of the Bashams is which, and didn't even know who was Dupree and who was Grenier when La Resistance was just them two. Heck, I only know the different between Grenier/Conway is because of Conways new look... and lack of sucking.

TehDoct0r - January 22, 2005 05:45 AM (GMT)
I like me some Conway. But Dupree totally smokes Sylvan.

Nah, I believe Toshiaki Kawada is the greatest wrestler alive. ;-)

If you saw all the dumb crap I wrote online in 2002-2003 you wouldn't say that. :ph43r:

Scrooge McSuck - January 24, 2005 03:26 AM (GMT)
I won't disagree with the last statement. If I put some of the stuff I said on message boards in 2002 here, you'd all die from laughter... a lot faster. (Avoiding the inevitable BigSwiggy joke)

Big F'N Swigg - January 24, 2005 03:04 PM (GMT)
The fact that your name was once Bring Back Charlie Ward is joke enough for me.

1) I see, but I was just misled by your user name.

2) Good, I'm glad to hear you were a mark for at least awhile. Although before I was "smartened up," I didn't go to message boards.

prof_plague - January 26, 2005 04:09 AM (GMT)
I'm going on about 10 years now. Although, until recently, these past few years haven't been as attenative to what's been going on. And then watching a bunch of wrestling from the 60s 'til when I started really watching in late '95.

(Screaming like Jerry Stiller) IT WAS A PROTEST NAME!!!

wildpegasus - January 27, 2005 02:02 AM (GMT)
Continually since 1989. Before that I caught a few World Grand Prix matches here and there.

SamoaRowe - January 27, 2005 02:35 PM (GMT)
I didn't really have access to wrestling until the late 90's, but the buzz over the "Attitude Era" and the nWo in WCW really sucked me in. So... I think that makes it about seven or eight years.

Wrestlevessel - January 28, 2005 01:27 AM (GMT)
8 years, and I only watch WWF.

WWF is the most accessible. If you ever get a chance to watch RoH, watch it. It's great.

Sorry to plug RoH so specifically, but I'm a mark for their entire product.
