My laptop has fritzed out. The power jack is messed up and I won't be online nearly as much as usual for the next couple of weeks.

And yeah, I was told it would cost $800 plus to replace a power jack in the back of my laptop. I'll do it myself for that much

Apparently so. It would take that much to replace a part the size of my pinky. I have a friend who said he'll fix it easy if I get the part. All it takes is a saudering iron and some patience

Computer repair places usually rip you off. I won't take my computer to one until it's literally dead, especially not for something major. The laptop itself probably didn't run any more than 1,500, right?

I let a buddy of mine check it out, and he said that the plug is a hard to find part because Toshiba doesn't make it seperate from the motherboard. So no matter what I do, it's going to be an assload of cash.
Anyone wanting to know how much an assload is should talk to Scrooge. He has lots of experience with that.
