Title: OAO Road To Wrestlemania
Mad Dog - January 31, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
Not that there's anything exciting about the card so far.
Real F'n Show - February 1, 2006 12:34 AM (GMT)
Most likely:
Triple H vs. Cena
Angle vs. Orton
Undertaker vs. Mark Henry
Shawn Michaels vs. Vince
so far, anyway...
Scrooge McSuck - February 1, 2006 12:46 AM (GMT)
I think Shawn vs. Shane & Vince might happen, judging by the looks of things now. Either way, what a crock of shit. THE MCMAHONS shouldn't be hogging PPV time unless there's at least 10 other matches.
I think smart money says it'll be Kane/Show vs. Carlito/Masters for the Tag Titles, unless Carlito or Masters turns face and feud with each other.
Real F'n Show - February 1, 2006 12:50 AM (GMT)
I think a Masters/Carlito feud could actually work, if they turned Carlito face. Sure the matches would suck, but at least it would be entertaining.
Benoit will most likely be stuck with Booker or someone...
Not sure what they'll do with Rey now that it appears he won't be getting his title shot...JBL maybe?
Colcollazo - February 1, 2006 02:28 AM (GMT)
Nah, it looks like Booker will repay Orton for winning him the US title by costing Rey the match with Orton. This will setup Booker/Rey at Mania for the US title. And this fucking sucks dick.
SamoaRowe - February 1, 2006 02:32 AM (GMT)
If Carlito turns face, I don't want to see it happen until he is getting so much face heat that they have no choice.
I heard a rumor that Shelton Benjamin may be getting the IC title back soon. The segment with Flair last night could be a further indication.
So far, I think this whole Orton vs Angle match sounds shitty. Even though it has happened several times already, I would have been psyched if they just left it was Angle/Rey.
dynamite kido - February 1, 2006 02:51 AM (GMT)
If they fuck Rey out of his title shot at Mania, I seriously might have to blow it off this year.
GOD DAMNIT.
SamoaRowe - February 1, 2006 02:56 AM (GMT)
Furthermore, I am losing interest in watching Kurt Angle wrestle. I don't care how talented he is and how his matches tend to be high quality, I am sick of seeing him out there each and every week destroying his neck. I read that he is feeling numbness in his hand again. The last time that happened, he took five months off from ring action. Now it's happening again and he's the reigning World Champion and looks like he intends to keep wrestling a full-time schedule up to and past WrestleMania.
Colcollazo - February 1, 2006 03:18 AM (GMT)
I heard that too, Angle is beginning to be in terrible shape and he's working with a lot of pain. Him and the company need to sit down and discuss where they're gonna go with him as it looks like Angle's career isn't gonna last much longer at this pace. This is the second time his neck problems have caused his hands to become numb. He needs a break so bad, it isn't even funny.

You're preaching to the choir, man. It's ridiculous.
jamiegeist - February 1, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
They got their first PPV buy out of me in 4 years by convincing me that their was a chance Rey would win the Rumble. I bought it for that very reason. And if he is wrestling for a world title at Mania, they'll probably get my money again.
I can't help but think they're gonna lose some buys, no matter how insignificant a number, by taking Rey out of the title match.

Has anyone actually lost the RR title shot before? I know there have been matches with that stipulation, but I don't remember a time where the RR winner actually lost the title shot.
jamiegeist - February 2, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
I don't even remember it being put up for grabs. Isn't McMahon the only one to win the Rumble and not go on to Mania? And that was just stupid on so many levels that I can't even count it.
Who else put their title shot up for grabs?
Scrooge McSuck - February 2, 2006 03:24 AM (GMT)
2000: Rock vs. Big Show for the title shot at NWO when Show had video proof Rock's feet touched first. Rock is still the official winner, though.
2002: Angle vs. Triple H (several times). HHH lost it at NWO, but won it back the next night.
S.T. Strickler - February 2, 2006 04:19 AM (GMT)
I think Shawn put up his WrestleMania title shot against Owen Hart at the February '96 IYH.
Scrooge McSuck - February 2, 2006 04:37 AM (GMT)
I forgot that one. That was the first time it happend, I think.

You beat me to it. It was the rematch from November '95 when Hart knocked out Michaels in the ring with an ezniguri.
jamiegeist - February 22, 2006 05:43 AM (GMT)
How bout a new "This is what Mania will be" little posting game. Here goes:
WWE Title: Cena v Triple H
World Title: Angle v Orton v Rey
IC Title: Benjamin v RVD
Vince Mcmahon/Shane McMahon v The Rockers (sounds fun to me)
US Title: Chris Benoit v JBL?
Booker T v Boogeyman...lord please no
Gregory Helms v blah blah blah, same old shit.
Jesus, this show is gonna suck ass.
Kane/Big Show v All 5 member of the Spirit Squad. I think I'd actually like to see that one.
Trish v Mickey
I got nothing.
prof_plague - February 22, 2006 06:14 AM (GMT)
Don't forget to add Edge vs. Foley.
Scrooge McSuck - February 22, 2006 01:02 PM (GMT)
My picks:
1. Cena vs. HHH (wait, the WINNER of the rumble is supposed to get the shot in the MAIN EVENT! FUCK YOU TRIPS! FUCK YOU TO HELL!)
2. Angle vs. Orton vs. Rey
3. Money in the Bank II: RVD vs. Carlito vs... uh... whoever the fuck is left in the Raw midcard.
4. Benoit vs. JBL
5. Trish vs. Mickie James
6. McMahon vs. Michaels/Jannetty (I wish)
7. Cruiserweight Open
Hmm... after that, no clue. But I'd like to see Kane win the IC Title from Benjamin. :D

4. Benoit vs. JBL |
May be Benoit vs. Finlay.

Kane, Show, Shelton, Masters?
Scrooge McSuck - February 22, 2006 10:12 PM (GMT)
With the "broken vertebrae" that Kane has (that no one has updated as true or false), I doubt he'll be in it. Ditto Masters. Masters can't make a Ladder match good.
SamoaRowe - February 22, 2006 10:16 PM (GMT)
I know they just had one in December, but wouldn't it make more sense considering the participants if they did a six man Money in the Bank Hell in a Cell match? We haven't seen a six man HIAC since 2000 and it would better suit the likes of Big Show, Kane, and Masters. Plus, it could become sort of a WrestleMania tradition where Money in the Bank is something different each year.
Scrooge McSuck - February 22, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
Money in the Bank Ironman Match!
jamiegeist - February 22, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm kind of thinking they are gonna go that route with Money in the Bank, and change up the gimmick match to tables, or The Cell to pop ratings.
They'll probably give RVD-Benjamin a ladder match, which could be awesome, but will most surely be sloppy and scary.

If it were a four-man Iron Man match - yes. Although a six man Iron Man match would sound interesting...
Scrooge McSuck - February 23, 2006 04:51 AM (GMT)
I guess Benoit/JBL isn't possible now, since Bradshaw broke his hand and requires surgery. :(
Oh well, Benoit/Finlay should be better.

Scrooge McSuck - February 23, 2006 04:55 AM (GMT)
Going by the news updates, during the Smackdown taping.
Cage Classic - February 25, 2006 03:23 AM (GMT)
I made this out of boredom:

His hand sorta got stuck between the steps and the ring post, and Benoit kicked the steps.. Looked rather painful to me.

I wasn't sure if he had injured his hand before the show or what, that's the thing about spoilers.
SamoaRowe - March 1, 2006 12:38 AM (GMT)
As of right now, the WM22 card looks like this:
World Heavyweight Championship:
Kurt Angle © vs Rey Mysterio vs Randy Orton
WWE Championship:
John Cena © vs Triple H
Vince McMahon vs Shawn Michaels
Hardcore match:
Edge vs Mick Foley
United States Championship:
Chris Benoit © vs JBL
The Undertaker vs Mark Henry
MITB Ladder match:
Shelton Benjamin vs Ric Flair vs Rob Van Dam (vs ???)
Women's Championship:
Trish Stratus © vs Mickie James
This means Big Show, Carlito, Kane, Chris Masters, the Smackdown cruiserweights, Bobby Lashly, Booker T, Boogeyman, Finlay, and a bunch of others are still left out. It's possible for Booker/Boogeyman, Finlay/Lashley, a cruiserweight open, and Show/Kane vs Masters/Carlito, but what else do you think may be added?
Scrooge McSuck - March 1, 2006 12:43 AM (GMT)
If Kane doesn't get a spot on the WM 22 card, I give up WWE for good!

I'm surprised you got over Kane getting shafted to Heat for WrestleMania XIX so they could do a segment with the Miller Lite girls.

From PWInsider:
WWE Women's champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James and Torrie Wilson vs. Candice Michelle in a "Playboy Pillow Fight" have been added to the card for Wrestlemania 22.
SamoaRowe - March 21, 2006 03:31 AM (GMT)
Ugh, I was afraid that Torrie vs Candice might be added.
And meanwhile the Cruiserweight Champion gets injured, leaving Paul London hanging as number one contender two weeks before WrestleMania for the SECOND year in a row.

Torrie and Candice although doesn't scream history in the making, I wouldn't mind too much...but a Playboy Pillow Fight? If anything, I just don't want to see wrestler sell getting hit by pillows.
...And Helms got injured?
