Title: Arena Football 2006

Scrooge McSuck - January 29, 2006 01:24 AM (GMT)
Yay... exciting football is finally here! Hopefully I'll remmeber to watch every week this year. So far an entertaining game between Orlando/Georgia on CSS. 17-14 after the first half.

I've seen a littl of LA/Arizona and Tampa/Philly. Tampa's getting beat up on pretty bad 28-13.

Hopefully that Arena League game will be good. As a side note this is the 20th year of AFL football.

Chicago/Colorado is interesting. The Chicago kicker is hurt and they have QB Michael Bishop kicking now. So they can't make PATs right now.

Mad Dog - January 29, 2006 09:29 PM (GMT)
Columbus is smashing Grand Rapids right now.

I taped Tampa Bay... lucky me, I get to see them get their ass whooped. Oh well, I at least get to see highlights from around the league. :P

(waves New York Dragons banner) Actually, I don't follow a specific team. My "hometeam" technically is the TB Storm (or the Orlando Predators), but I'm tired of rooting for the local teams. :P

They made a comeback and it was actually a game for most of the second half. Though there was an awful call as Philly got a TD when the ball clearly bounced off the ground and not the wall.

Thst's the best thing about Arena Football... comebacks galore! Being down 50-20 is no longer a big deal, as long as the other team has shit luck the rest of the game. :P

Mad Dog - January 29, 2006 11:22 PM (GMT)
Colorado/Chicago looked to be the game of the week but it was the only one I could get on tv. Colorado won with like 20 seconds left 65-56.

Columbus also smashed Grand Rapids 53-30. They've brought in a lot of new players so hopefully Columbus can make a playoff run this year.

Mad Dog - January 29, 2006 11:23 PM (GMT)
New York also lost their first game to Nashville 57-28.

Scrooge McSuck - January 29, 2006 11:26 PM (GMT)
Grr... damn you, Aaron Garcia. You're supposed to be the greatest QB in AFL history! (throws empty wallet at wall)

And glad to see the Grand Rapids string of suck continues. Weird how they won the Arena Bowl a few years ago, and now they produced seasons of 1-15 and 4-12 in 2004-2005.

So be sure to tune in next week... or else watch Pittsburgh-Seattle :)

Hey, who's that guy who owns the Colorado team? I haven't heard his name for about 6 minutes now, and I know he looks familiar....

Scrooge McSuck - January 30, 2006 03:52 AM (GMT)
Patrick Ewing? :D

Mad Dog - January 30, 2006 04:27 PM (GMT)
Columbus brought in some nice veteran talent this year. I'd like to go to a game but tickets are fucking impossible to get.

I went to a Destroyers game once. Fun times. Haven't really followed it all that much, though.

Close game tonight between Orlando and Kansas City. Orlando is up 48-41 with 30 seconds left, so I expect KC to try and cheat with a goofy-kick-thing. :P

Edit: And it worked?! KC has possession.

Has anyone noticed that EA has the license to both AFL and NFL now? WASSUPWITDAT?

Scrooge McSuck - February 8, 2006 04:54 AM (GMT)
EA will license anything that has a chance of making a few dollars... or was that Acclaim?

Key word being "was" there. I actually used to like Turok.
