Title: 10 Worst I.C. Champions

| QUOTE |
10. The Mountie 1-17-92 to 1-19-92: The Mountie wasn't a bad wrestler but he wasn't on this level. Only holding it for 2 days further cements the fact that he wasn't on this level. |
| QUOTE |
9. Kerry Von Erich 8-27-90 to 11-19-90: Kerry Von Erich was a big name in wrestling in the early 80s. Former NWA World Champion when that belt still meant something. Unfortunately at this point Von Erich was starting to self destruct and the WWF actually got so concerned about him committing suicide that they took the title off of him. Von Erich was also extremely useless in the ring by this point in his life. |
| QUOTE |
8. Ric Flair 9-18-05 to current: What happens when your 55 year old champion gets arrested for road rage and never defends it? That's right! The 8 spot on this list. |
| QUOTE |
7. Jeff Hardy 4-10-01 to 4-16-01: This could've elevated Jeff Hardy to the next level in the WWF. It turned into a complete bury job by HHH and marked the last time Hardy was useful in a ring. |
| QUOTE |
6. The Godfather 4-12-99 to 5-25-99: A lower card comedy gimmick actually got a run with the belt. I would argue that his reign actually did the most damage to the credibility to the title before No. 1 and 2 on the list finished the belt off for good. |
Scrooge McSuck - January 28, 2006 05:29 AM (GMT)
Agreed so far. Don't forget, they were promoting Von Erich as this unknown nobody when he beat Mr. Perfect. At least that's how Sean Mooney put it during Event Centers around that time.

5. Rocky Maivia 2-13-97 to 4-28-97: Easily top 10 for worst babyface runs ever in a company. The matches sucked and everyone hated the smiling and baby kissing Rock. |
| QUOTE |
4. Chris Jericho and Chyna 1-03-00 to 1-23-00: I don't remember exactly how we got the whole co-champion thing. Dumb idea dragged to the pits of hell by the fact that Chyna was part of it. |
| QUOTE |
3. Billy Gunn 11-21-00 to 12-10-00: Gunn's probably failed as a singles wrestler a good dozen times during his career. He just doesn't have the moveset or the charisma to go it alone. He needs a Bart Gunn or a Road Dogg to drag him to something worthwhile. This was the only time the WWF had the balls to actually put a belt on him. |
| QUOTE |
2. Chyna 8-27-00 to 9-04-00: Chyna will go down as probably one of the worst wrestlers ever. She had no upside in the ring whatsoever and was using the lowblow as her finisher at one point in her career. Just awful. The WWF for some reason thought she should be winning men's titles instead of the women's. She does hold a rare honor though... |
| QUOTE |
1. Chyna 10-17-99 to 12-12-99: That's right Chyna gets 3 out of 4 for the worst I.C. Champions as every one of her runs with the belts were absolute disgraces that murdered the belt's credibility. The WWF should be ashamed of themselves for giving her the belt 3 times. The low point of this reign was her beating Chris Jericho followed up by one of my favorite segments ever that saw Chris breaking her hand with a hammer. I laffed and laffed and laffed and am actually giggling about it right now just thinking about it. |

Chyna makes 3 of the top 4.... damn, that's hateful, but true. I'm almost surprised most other title reigns from 1999-2001 didn't make the cut, since most of them were less than memorable.
For example, I totally forgot about Road Dogg and goldust's run with the belt in 1999 until just now, and in 2001 guys like Lance Storm, Kane and Albert had lack-luster reigns with the gold.
Mad Dog - January 28, 2006 06:11 AM (GMT)
Those were lackluster reigns but nothing outright offensive about them. If I were to expand the list you'd see all of HHH's runs with the belt, Test and a few of those probably show up.
Scrooge McSuck - January 28, 2006 06:13 AM (GMT)
Wait, Test was Intercontinental Champion? (thinks) I know he held the Euro and Hardcore belts, but don't remember IC.
Another pointless IC Title run in 1999: Edge (won it at a HS and lost at Fully Loaded 2-3 days later)

WWF was halfway guilty on that. The lower dweebs like Mooney and Hayes talked about "this exciting new superstar who has arrived here in the World Wrestling Federation". But the higher dweebs like Vince and Gorilla would allude to the fact that Kerry was from "one of the most famous wrestling families around".
I thought Kerry's IC run stunk because he didn't defend it on TV against anybody of note. Haku was it.
If ya' wanna get technical, you could add Dean Douglas to the list. He only had the title for about an hour, and only as a prop.
Val Venis had two reigns and both were highly forgettable.
Mad Dog - January 28, 2006 06:16 AM (GMT)
Test was in that wave of everyone winning a belt in late 2001.
Dean Douglas would probably be no. 11 if I expanded the list.
Scrooge McSuck - January 28, 2006 06:31 AM (GMT)
Douglas wins the belt from HBK when HBK lost his smile the first time, then does a half-ass job to Razor Ramon, and didn't even job to a signature move. That's fucking sad. His reign lasted all of 12 minutes, which has to be a record, even with Russo's 1998-99 booking.
Edit: MD proves my point, I guess. Test's run was completely forgetable, and I remember EVERYTHING.
<---Dork.
dynamite kido - January 28, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
Well technically shouldn't this be the top 10 list of worst IC championship reigns? Because if someone is listed 3 times, obviously they aren't 3 different people.
But I surely don't disagree with Chyna's standing on this list though.....
SamoaRowe - January 28, 2006 09:09 PM (GMT)
Test beat Edge for the IC title 2 or 3 weeks before Survivor Series 2001 and lost the title back to Edge at the pay-per-view.
