Pick a Partner January 23, 2006
Last week on RAW, WWE Champion Edge attacked John Cena just when it looked like Cena was going to beat the Master Lock Challenge. Later on RAW, Cena returned the favor when he attacked Edge after the Rated R Superstar's successful title defense against Ric Flair in a brutal TLC Match. This Monday night they will be in tag team action. WWE Champion Edge and a partner of his choice will face John Cena and a partner of his choice Monday night on RAW. Who will they choose as their partner? Find out on RAW.
Kane, who destroyed Carlito last week, will look to punish Carlito again when they square off this Monday night on RAW.
WWE Women's Champion Trish Stratus and Ashley will take on the team of Candice and Victoria. Will Mickie be able to stay out of Trish's business this week? Find out on RAW.
Also, Shawn Michaels will take on Shelton Benjamin. Will Shelton's momma continue to assist her son and keep him on the winning track?
For all this and more, watch Monday Night RAW on USA (9/8 CT).

Can't wait for HBK/Shelton tomorrow night, with this and Benoit/Orton on Friday night, WWE TV is good these days.
Masters will be Edge's partner and Flair's will be Cena's.

Kane vs. Carlito!? Hmm... Rowe's in for a tough task of trying to put over that match in his review.
prof_plague - January 22, 2006 11:02 PM (GMT)
Sounds decent. Looks like WWE can head on the right track - and just in time for WM.

I just have to grit my teeth and remind myself that Shelton's mama means that Shelton isn't being buried anymore.

Anything that will get him over again, and winning matches.
Colcollazo - January 23, 2006 01:22 AM (GMT)
Actually I take my word back on Master's being Edge's partner and Flair being Cena's. Edge/HHH vs Cena/Show is better plus they can get the IC title off of Flair in a match vs Masters or whatever.
Real F'n Show - January 23, 2006 01:29 AM (GMT)
I honestly don't care about this show anymore now that Angle's gone. Smackdown on the other hand, is awesome as of late. Benoit/Orton will definately rock.
Colcollazo - January 23, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
No doubt SD has been great these past weeks. Good cage match, solid Benoit/Orton matches from the first week, then a great Benoit/Orton match on 1/13, then two fun solid matches last week with Finlay/Hardy and Henry/Rey. Now this week with Benoit/Orton in a no holds barred match. Imagine if Eddie were here...I just want the undercard to be given more exposure. That way the card as a whole is more filled out.
Anyway, can't wait for HBK/Shelton II. I hope Shelton's momma doesn't fuck with it too much, but then again it's good to know that Shelton's actually going over this time.
prof_plague - January 23, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
I can see Masters as IC champ. But then again, I've been saying that since he debuted. I'm a little surprised he's been titleless for far.
TheGreatWhiteChoate - January 23, 2006 03:01 AM (GMT)
I like Masters about half the time. I'll have to see how he does with a decent title reign to decide how I feel about him.
Big F'N Swigg - January 23, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
My wife hates him because there's nothing to his character. She groans everytime he comes on TV, and it's not the good groan, either.
dynamite kido - January 23, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
If I've said it once, I'll say it again. Masters is awful and belongs nowhere near a title.
jamiegeist - January 23, 2006 03:23 AM (GMT)
I think Masters continues to improve.
And My wife likes him, I think. She does his entrance everytime he does it. She just did it, being silly the first time, but got my ass laughing so hard that now she just keeps doing it.

Oh, make no mistake about it. Me and my friends take great pride in goofing on the guy every possible chance..................I just don't think he should be in a title picture at all. Unless it's in the tag division....
TheGreatWhiteChoate - January 23, 2006 03:29 AM (GMT)
I think he's a serviceable wrestler with a lot of room to improve, but I do agree that he needs a character, period. He's extremely bland.
dynamite kido - January 23, 2006 03:30 AM (GMT)
It should also be mentioned that he has ZERO mic skills and the fact that he's been pushed down everyone's throat since day one doesn't help much.
TheGreatWhiteChoate - January 23, 2006 03:32 AM (GMT)
Actually, that brings me to one of my biggest beefs with the WWE. They ALWAYS run out these rookies like they're hot shit and then bury them a month later. Even worse is when they keep going without development, like Carlito (who can't wrestle) and Masters (who has no character) and MNM (who I just inexplicably can't stand). My point is, make them earn their way up the ladder. It doesn't make sense to make them look invincible and then break them in half two weeks later.
jamiegeist - January 23, 2006 03:38 AM (GMT)
I actually think Masters is pretty good on the mic. I wouldn't call him great, but I definitely wouldn't call him bad.
I think he mainly lacks in his in-ring charisma. Meaning when he talks when he is in the ring, he sucks. He just randomly yells out "Who's the Man" and stupid shit like that.
And nothing pisses me off more than anything wrestler shouting out their finisher when they are gonna go for it. "Its Masterlock time!" is fuckin stupid. Someone else recently did it in TNA before a brainbuster, and I don't know why, but it just pisses me off.

Especially when they bring guys up the way they did with Carlito and Masters. Both barely wrestled (Carlito beat Cena in his first match, won a title, then lost it immediately after his first defense. Masters didn't wrestle at all and did the fucking Masterlock challenge). This is why years ago it helped to have jobbers in wrestling. Although I'm not convinced that Carlito or Masters will ever get better.
MNM on the other hand is a travesty. They just use them at their own will. They had them put over the new LOD only to have them beat them for the titles again and cut Heidenreich. Then they drop the titles to Rey and a injured Batista only to beat them for it again for no apparent reason. Plus, MNM have actually shown improvement since their debuts. A decent amount actually. I can't say that Carlito and Masters are even worthy of being in important matches at this point and they've BOTH wrestled in a PPV main event.
TheGreatWhiteChoate - January 23, 2006 03:59 AM (GMT)
Exactly. Unless you're absolutely positive that they're the next great thing, don't pump them up so well at the beginning.

Thank God Warrior didn't do that. He'd probably cut a 30 second promo of nonsense before his splash.

Really? Yes, there could be more to him, but his character is an old school character. Right now that's one of the best things going for him.

Followed by 30 seconds to set-up and do the splash.

I was just wondering... has WWE announced the Rumble participants? They've only mentioned about 6-7 on Raw, and Smackdown I don't even remember. And the PPV is THIS week. That's WCW levels of "hurry the fuck up and fill up the card" booking.
Real F'n Show - January 23, 2006 01:30 PM (GMT)
We probably won't see a full list until after Smackdown, I assume.

I'm sure it will be a fine, DUD rating, especially if it goes 15 minutes due to Carlito trying to go for a cover every time he does a low impact move.
jamiegeist - January 23, 2006 04:43 PM (GMT)
I long for the days of the Event Center where people would declare and talk about the Rumble in front of a green screen with their cartoonish logo plastered behind them.

The Event Centers ruled. (tempted to post Tugboat's promo from Royal Rumble '91) Dammit, that was the worst promo I've ever heard, and I've seen Hogan's from WM IV and VI.

Ends with a Chokeslam, or some sort of DQ, or may be...mayyyy be Carlito can get the small package on Kane an pin him.
