Title: Antonio Davis Jumps Into Stands

I wanted to know how everyone felt about this. The guy clearly was thinking about protecting his family, and he still gets a five game suspension, and is probably going to be sued for a million dollars by some asshole. I just don't think it's fair.

I've yet to hear the entire story, other than he was protecting his wife. What exactly happened?

Either way, if someone threatened his wife, I'm glad he ran into the stands. A lot of fans are out of control and feel no repurcussions. When you go about threatening someone's wife, yo deserve a beating.

I don't blame him one bit. He's not an asshole like Artest........he never has really gotten into anything. I think the league should take that into consideration too.....

Don't fuck with my New York Knicks, unless you're another team fucking us on the court.

jamiegeist - January 20, 2006 09:09 PM (GMT)
Yeah, when I heard about it, I thought "what a dumbass...you can't do that".

But then I saw the video. And I can't blame the guy one bit, and honestly he didn't do anything wrong.

I don't know if the NBA has some sort of written policy about going into the stands, but he seemed to have every right to do it. If I was in his position, and I looked up from the floor to see my wife surrounded by people, security guards, etc. in an obviously volatile visiting arena, you're damn right I would go up there.

He didn't know if something went down, if someone got hurt, if someone was fighting. He could tell nothing from the floor, and he simply went up to get a better look. Nothing wrong with that.

Now he probably could've asked someone first to go check it out, or maybe not jump over the broadcast table on his way up. That made it look a little angry, when it obviously wasn't.

I have no sympathy for him because I bet his wife started the incident. Who would know who his fucking wife was in the first place?

I don't care about that. The point is, he was trying to defuse the situation. It doesn't matter if his wife started it or not, he was just trying to take care of it without getting a fight. I give him props for that.

A hot-headed idiot would've been throwing fists upon entering the crowd. That's not what happend here.

jamiegeist - January 21, 2006 02:47 AM (GMT)
While I do agree that his wife may have been the antagonist here (she reportedly was in 2 prior incidents in the stands in the last few years) I still think Davis did the right thing, and didn't do anything "wrong".

I learned today that the NBA does actually have a rule about players leaving the court, so he just straight up broke a rule, and he knows it. I don't know if a 5 game suspension is the norm for this infraction or not.

Scrooge McSuck - January 21, 2006 03:27 AM (GMT)
5 games is no big deal. I'm sure that if the Knicks were contenders for the playoffs (or contenders to not suck), he might've gotten 1-2 games at most.

Mad Dog - January 21, 2006 03:38 AM (GMT)
If she's been a problem at previous games then he shouldn't be taking her to them.

Scrooge McSuck - January 21, 2006 03:59 AM (GMT)
What's he going to do, forbid her to go to a game like a 6 year old who won't listen?

Mad Dog - January 21, 2006 04:01 AM (GMT)
If she can't keep her mouth shut he needs to either buy her a luxury box where she won't be near anyone or find another place for her where she won't get into fights with other fans.

Big F'N Swigg - January 22, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
I read something today that I agree with, that said that the NBA should have a "family section." Whether luxury boxes, or a special section of the seating for each team. Kind of like MLB

Scrooge McSuck - January 22, 2006 02:30 AM (GMT)
Whatever they do, they shouldn't mix the 1st and 2nd wives with each other.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - January 24, 2006 03:03 AM (GMT)
For my money, there's nothing better than stupid lawsuits. I'm waiting for someone to hit a foul ball my way at a game so I can sue their asses for a million bucks.
