Title: If Finlay, why not Malenko?

Real F'n Show - January 19, 2006 11:18 PM (GMT)
All of this awesome talk of Finlay returning has been awesome, and it also got me thinking, why not my other favorite road agent as well? Malenko could tear some shit up on Smackdown, and I assume he's in pretty good condition, etc.

What do you think?

Colcollazo - January 19, 2006 11:24 PM (GMT)
Hmm, I dunno, Malenko's hasn't wrestled in almost 5 years but then again the same goes for Finlay. Plus, and Finlay's even older than Malenko. Malenko was actually supposed to come back to wrestle Eddie at the ECW One Night Stand show, but something happened that prevented it.

SamoaRowe - January 19, 2006 11:45 PM (GMT)
IIRC, the only reason Malenko retired was because he was not being utlized properly and was looking to preserve his health rather than take dangerous bumps in pointless dark matches and such.

At the time, WCW and ECW had just gone out of business, and while I highly doubt Malenko would ever have been interested in going to back to WCW anyhow, his options for in the U.S. as a wrestling performer had diminished greatly.

I would be delighted to see Malenko come back to the ring, assuming he would be treated better.

Hm...Malenko vs. Angle. Nahw, would never happen.

Scrooge McSuck - January 19, 2006 11:57 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't mind Malenko coming back, but Finlay's "style" is less demanding. Malenko is one of those guys who's more of a submission wrestler, but he can take top rope bumps as well. If he comes back now, it's been way too long since he's done anything. Finlay relies mostly on brawling, so he doesn't need to worry about getting in "bumping" shape.

SamoaRowe - January 19, 2006 11:58 PM (GMT)
If Malenko came back, I'd be more curious to see what types of matches he could have with Brian Kendrick, Paul London, and Jamie Noble.

They could rock Velocity for months with those matches.

Scrooge McSuck - January 20, 2006 12:03 AM (GMT)
Too bad no one will see them except the most hardcore/loyal fans.

True :(

I'd also like to see Malenko vs Paul Birchill. I think that would be a match well worth seeing.

Or Malenko vs. Regal. Hell, Regal vs. ANYONE that's under 6'5" 300 lbs.

Edit: Malenko, not Regal, although Regal isn't too shabby himself.

dynamite kido - January 20, 2006 01:45 AM (GMT)
Malenko has no interest in wrestling anymore. It's that simple.

Although it would be super fucking badass if he came back.

Deano the machino is the man.

SamoaRowe - January 20, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
I can understand why Dean wouldn't be interested in wreslting anymore. The last time he was active, he had to job to Lita and was an 11 month reigning Light-heavyweight Champion (though pretty much existed only on Jakked/Metal).

Real F'n Show - January 20, 2006 01:55 AM (GMT)
Smackdown's so pointless anymore, they should just let various combinations of Benoit, Malenko, Regal, Finlay, etc. wrestle for two hours everyweek. I doubt the "viewers" would know what's going on, but if they watch the crap the WWE has on Smackdown now, they'd watch this. Plus, you'd gain some more viewers in the smarks.

Or does WWE actually think they're programming is good right now?

Scrooge McSuck - January 20, 2006 02:05 AM (GMT)
WWE probably thinks the programming they produce now is good. How many times is Lashley going to squash people with talent like Nunzio and William Regal instead of no-talent hacks like Sylvain Grenier?

forever

jamiegeist - January 20, 2006 03:04 AM (GMT)
I agree, Malenko would rule again.

But how bout Finlay......I thought he suffered a horrible career ender in some garbage match in WCW. Whats the deal with that anyway?

prof_plague - January 20, 2006 03:30 AM (GMT)
Although I would like to see Finlay/Burchill and Finlay/Regal, and I've never really been much of a Finaly fan when I was younger.

Wait! Damn you Finlay! Get back to development and finish training the women wrestlers! I want to see Ashley have a good match first before you get back on TV.
