Title: Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie

Mad Dog - January 17, 2006 04:30 AM (GMT)
It was announced tonight. It happens in May. So discuss.

Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2006 04:37 AM (GMT)
... This was the big surprise that was going to change the face of UFC forever? This was "Road Warrior Animal is the Surprise Main Event in 2001" levels of disappointing.

Mad Dog - January 17, 2006 04:38 AM (GMT)
Hughes will kill him but Gracie still has a big name in the MMA world.

Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2006 04:59 AM (GMT)
Wasn't Gracie a big name like 10 years ago?

Mad Dog - January 17, 2006 05:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah, he's still popular despite not being as good anymore.

Real F'n Show - January 22, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
This will be more sad to watch than Silva vs. Sakuraba. Seriously though, it would be hilarious if Gracie won.

Mad Dog - January 26, 2006 04:56 AM (GMT)
Gracie still might be able to go but I doubt it. He's 40 and hasn't been a full timer in a long while.

This actually got my interest. I remember watching a special a few months ago on the early UFC days, and Gracie really seemed fucking unstopable, so I may check this out.

Mad Dog - April 23, 2006 12:18 AM (GMT)
I still think Hughes is going to eat him alive for the most part. Gracie was good but WAS is the key word there.

The Last Free Voice - April 24, 2006 02:51 AM (GMT)
Has he been inactive for the past howevermany years, or just not active in the UFC?

Mad Dog - April 24, 2006 03:00 AM (GMT)
He's only had 5 fights since the start of 2000 and he's 2-1-2 in that time frame.

whitemilesdavis - April 24, 2006 12:06 PM (GMT)
Gracie probably was the beat ever, but he is old, and Hughes is freakishly strong. I'd love to see Gracie tap him out, but I can't imagine that happening.

The Last Free Voice - April 24, 2006 08:48 PM (GMT)
If it happens will the MMA world pretty much go insane? I really have no idea how fanatical fans are or how much of a following UFC and the like actualy have...

Mad Dog - April 24, 2006 10:46 PM (GMT)
Nah, huge uproars don't really happen over upsets. Most MMA fans understand that anyone can win any fight.

The Last Free Voice - April 24, 2006 10:47 PM (GMT)
Ah. Cool.

Any word on an undercard yet?

Mad Dog - April 24, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
It's all listed in the UFC 60 thread. Though only the Vera fight is confirmed.
