Title: "Dream Matches"
Description: Realistic Ones
prof_plague - January 16, 2006 10:03 PM (GMT)
I know I've had a similar thread some time ago, but this one is a bit more realistic.
After watching Hogan vs. Michaels, and the teasings of Austin vs. Hogan, and Michaels vs. The Rock, what other "Dream Matches" would you like to see that would more realistic, and along those same lines, ie wrestlers that can still wrestle (to some extent, like Austin and Hogan).
Scrooge McSuck - January 16, 2006 10:16 PM (GMT)
Austin can still wrestle? Surprised me... he took ONE chokeslam bump in 2003 and was very sore according to reports. Austin is about as capable of wrestling as Dynamite Kid is.
Austin/Hogan will be a nightmare if it ever actually comes to fruitation, but with Austin being his typical crybaby 'self, and Hogan being near crippled himself and only looking to work if the payday is right, it'll never happen.

Dude, 2003 was over 2 years ago. I would say that Austin is more capable to have a match than DK who is completely in a wheelchair at this point.
Scrooge McSuck - January 16, 2006 10:33 PM (GMT)
I exaggerated the DK part, but Austin can't even take a simple bump without being in severe pain. Since his retirement in 2003, he's taken maybe 2 on T.V.. Unless Austin has been rehabilitating his neck and back without it being leaked out, I doubt he'll be in good enough condition to do anything but a squash match.
Austin/Hogan is a dream match, but it's not on my list of matches I'd want to see for the workrate.
Benoit is God - January 17, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
Kenta Kobashi vs Genichiro Tenryu.

| Angle vs. Foley... |
Good call. Foley came back to put Orton over to really push him with the "Legend Killer" gimmick, so having a Mick Foley/Angle match sounds really nice.
Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2006 11:08 AM (GMT)
Foley vs. Angle I would probably give a thumbs down on as a "Dream Match." Foley was just a career midcarder who had 1 year on top (the worst year in recent history) and was never a draw. He was just a nice guy who bumped his ass off.
A dream match should be one that was never thought possible, like a mix of generations. Foley was still around when Angle debuted, and he's come back several times over the last couple of years, so it's always been a possible match for most of Angle's career.
I would actually like to see it, but I'll save the Dream Match for something else, like BiG's choice. :D
jamiegeist - January 17, 2006 05:07 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm not feeling that as a dream match either to be honest with you.
I think Joe/Angle could work an awesome stiff wrestling match together. So I'll go there.
Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2006 05:31 PM (GMT)
Here's one that some smarks would like: Ricky Steamboat vs. Kurt Angle. Or maybe Benoit/Steamboat, if they didnt wrestle anytime in WCW back when Benoit was moonlighting and Steamboat was nearing the end of his run.
prof_plague - January 17, 2006 09:05 PM (GMT)
Even if they did wrestle, it's not like many people would remember, unless it was a big deal at the time.
EDIT: Far as I have read, I don't see any matches where Benoit and Steamboat hooked-up.

Dude, Foley got the highest ratings EVER for wrestling on TV. For that, his drawing power should NEVER be questioned
Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
TV ratings mean nothing, and it still doesn't qualify him vs. Angle as a dream match. That rating can also be credited to Bischoff and Schiavone (Skee-a-vone ) too for tipping off fans watching Nitro.

I meant "This is your life Rock"
Real F'n Show - January 18, 2006 03:32 AM (GMT)
Steamboat versus Benoit I wouldn't call realistic at all, although it would kick major ass.
The only person I can see Steamer coming back to wrestle is Flair.

Touche. That was a pretty awesome segment, although I'm sure some people hated it. Yurple the Clown = Ratings.

Foley bumping like crazy for Angle's german's would be fun as hell. As far as Angle/Joe is concerned, I wouldn't want Angle dying after taking Joe's finisher. I would say Angle/Kobashi, but then again the same thing goes for Kobashi's finisher. That pretty much leaves me with Angle/KENTA.
Real F'n Show - January 18, 2006 03:42 AM (GMT)
Angle is WWE for life, seriously. As much as I'd want to see him venture over to Japan, he has no reason too. Plus he's not in the best of shape, and he's better wrestling WWE style...

It's too fuckin bad that you're right.
Real F'n Show - January 18, 2006 03:53 AM (GMT)
Chris Benoit on the other hand, I could actually see going for one more run overseas, just to go out with a bang.
WWE should:
let Benoit have a kickass 20 minute match with Regal at 'Mania.
let him tour overseas for 6 months wrestling freelance dream matches against Kobashi, Misawa, Kawada, Kojima, etc.
bring him back for a couple more months building to a retirement match.
keep him as a road agent.
Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2006 03:57 AM (GMT)
Since I appear to be having a mean hard-on for Angle, I would love to see a good amatuer style match between Angle and Mike Rotundo. :)
