You've probably seen it... Coors Light is running an NFL commercial, featuring the song "Love Train" and showing how the "Silver Bullet" has been at every Super Bowl since the Vince Lombardi-Hank Stram days. The impression is that the "official beer of the NFL" goes waaaayyyy back.
Only problem is... Coors was a regional beer until the early 80's. You could only get it west of the Mississipi and before then it was only in the Rocky Moutain region. Fuck, didn't they watch "Smokey and the Bandit?!" So Coors wants us to belive that they were there for all those old Super Bowls played in Florida? Even California was out of Coors' reach until the late 70's...so there's no way in HELL it could've been at Super Bowl 1.
Also...there's that commercial where Pete Coors is snow-shoeing in the mountains and sez: "some brewers look outside their window and see smokestacks.. some don't". Well, Petey, I've been driving by your factory and corporate offices for years and it has smokestacks.
Oh yeah, and their beer sucks.
Fuck yeah it does.
I'd rather drink my own pee than drink Coors.
Okay, probably not.....but i really hate Coors products.
