Description: I LOVE IT!

We're hearing that the current plan for the Vince McMahon/Shawn Michaels storyline is for Shawn to face noneother than The Rock at Wrestlemania 22 in Chicago. In the storyline Vince will apparantly put up "big bucks" to bring back "Hollywood" Rock in an attempt to take out Michaels. Interestingly, you'll remember them doing something VERY similar back in 2003 before No Way Out with The Rock coming back in to face Hogan. Due to the (fairly) detailed description of what the plan is we would assume rock has already been contrcted and has agreed to the match. We would not expect a long feud however, instead expect vince to feud with HBK and bring Rock in just a few weeks prior to wrestlemania. This would work out best for Rock who is beginning filming of a new movie around April time.

This also puts the rumoured Austin/Hogan match in major doubt as we are told WWE do not want to promote both austin/hogan and rock/michaels on the same card, so if this is the plan as we are hearing it is then it seems WWE must have given up on getting austin and hogan together at WM.

More as we get it.

I loved The Rock from 2003. The promos, the music, the video, it was all so cool. If they follow through with this, this would be great.

Wow, this is amazing. The Rock has stated countless times he wants nothing to do with Shawn Michaels. I guess money talks.

SamoaRowe - January 14, 2006 07:30 PM (GMT)
A showdown between Rock and HBK? I won't believe it until it is officially announced on television. And even then, I won't believe it until Rock and HBK are standing in the same ring at WrestleMania and about to tie up.

Scrooge McSuck - January 14, 2006 07:34 PM (GMT)
And I won't believe it until it actually happens. The Rock hates Michaels because of what he tried to do to him in 1997, and the fact his best-friend seems to be on a crusade to bury anyone he (Rock) puts over.

prof_plague - January 15, 2006 05:55 AM (GMT)
We just have to wait a little before WM to find out.

jamiegeist - January 15, 2006 06:08 AM (GMT)
If so, I'd be majorly pumped for one of the very last (again) dream matches left for Mania.

What did Michaels try to do to the Rock in '97?

Mad Dog - January 16, 2006 02:34 AM (GMT)
I doubt it happens. The Rock's completely shit all over the idea everytime it's been posed to him and I don't see the upside to him in the WWF anymore.

Something about HBk and HHH looking to make him (Rock) look like shit. Bret Hart was involved somehow too, but I forget. I just know the Rock doesn't want anything to do with Shawn, and has said it everytime anyone mentioned the possibility of working a program with him.

prof_plague - January 16, 2006 09:42 PM (GMT)
What other "dream" matches are there?

Wait...I have idea...

NEW THREAD!

Scrooge McSuck - January 16, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
Hogan vs. Kane! MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

jamiegeist - January 16, 2006 09:54 PM (GMT)
Wow. If that is a dream match...

I'd say Rock-Sting would interest some people. Austin-Hogan.

I'd like to see HBK-Mysterio on a bigger stage than just RAW.

This isn't really a "dream" match, but have Benoit and Rey ever feuded? They need to find a way to turn Benoit heel, cause that could be a wonderful feud.

Scrooge McSuck - January 16, 2006 10:01 PM (GMT)
Benoit kinda feuded with Rey during the SD 6 days.

I believe I heard Meltzer mention this before, but back then, Triple H and Rock were considered the future stars of the company. Shawn backed Triple H and used his pull to help bury Rock(who was a threat to Triple H's future spot) however he could, Bret backed Rock and used his pull to protect him.

One match that was discussed for Wrestlemania would have pitted The Rock vs. Shawn Michaels. However, The Rock doesn't believe HBK was ever as big of a star as Austin, Hogan, Goldberg or Foley. Apparently, when The Rock broke into the business, Michaels was an ass to him, and he never forget it. The name that would interest The Rock for a Wrestlemania match is Bret Hart.

Well, Rock is dead right on that one. He forgot to mention himself in those group of people as well, so I guess this match is officially never happening. Oh well.

Ouch... I'm a Foley mark, but that was ice cold. Goldberg has a case, kinda, but not a good one.

The Rock still has taste. :)

jamiegeist - January 18, 2006 11:17 PM (GMT)
He is kind of right though. I love Shawn Michaels, and think he definitely belongs in that class (and above) but he has never really been the public focus dude. No TV Guides, no SNL, no mainstream media really for HBK.

Triple H, Rock, Austin, Foley, Hogan, and yeah, even Goldberg are probably more known in the public eye than HBK. Even Savage and Piper are probably more household name than Shawn Michaels.

Colcollazo - January 18, 2006 11:22 PM (GMT)
Yeah, Macho and Piper are more known than HBK. Just a ton of people are, Michaels was never ever that popular to begin with. If you go around asking people in the street who Shawn Michaels is, it's gonna take you a while to get to someone who knows the guy, unless you're speaking with wrestling fans.

Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2006 11:25 PM (GMT)
For the record: I hate Shawn Michaels. I'm just being fair for once. I'd rather hear Doink the Clown being more popular than Michaels. :D

TheGreatWhiteChoate - January 19, 2006 03:19 AM (GMT)
I would MUCH rather see a Rock/ Hart match than a Rock/ Michaels, though I'm not sure how well either one could pull it off at this point.

Scrooge McSuck - January 19, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
Hart can't wrestle. Period. End of story. Fin.

Rock/Michaels is possible, but very not probable.

Well, Michaels has never been close to as big a draw as those four, so he's right.
