Title: "Kane" The Undertaker

I'd always heard rumblings that Taker's original name was Kane, but had never seen video proof and people actually calling him by that name. Its kinda weird and surreal to see, if you never have:

"Kane" The Undertaker

I didn't believe it myself until I got his debut match and the "Update" highlighting Survivor Series '90. It's still weird hearing 'Taker refer to himself as "Kane."

Edit: It's Kane "The Undertaker", not "Kane" The Undertaker. :D

Damn, that was pretty nice.

When he debutted at Survivor Series, he was just "Undertaker". They didn't mention him as "Kane the Undertaker" on that show...unless the Coliseum Video edition added an edit or commentary re-do.

The very next week after the Series, on all the updates they gave him the name "Kane". I remember a show-ending hype job on "Challenge" by Gorilla and the Brain, where Brain said something like "wait'll you see KANE..this man will be the monster of the 90's!". I was confused when I heard this, thinking "who the hell is he talking about? Wait, they're not pretending that that Undertaker guy is now called Kane, are they?". I guess they thought 4 syllables in a name was too long, so they went for 1.

He was "Kane" for about two weeks, when they suddenly dropped it. The Royal Rumble 1991 program was printed during this time, and in that magazine he is listed as "Kane the Undertaker".

So he was actually "Undertaker" first, then "Kane the Undertaker", then back to "Undertaker".

He did a lot of house shows as Kane The Undertaker. A good thing though that they dropped the name, I can't see him being named Kane, Jacobs fits the character well.

Technically, they did 2 TV Tapings before Survivor Series where Undertaker wrestled, so he was Kane the Undertaker first, then the Undertaker, then Kane the Undertaker again, and finally just the Undertaker.
