Title: X-Men Legends
Description: Anyone played it/playing it?

SamoaRowe - December 31, 2004 04:47 AM (GMT)
I got it for Christmas and started playing it today. I did my typical "rush into game without studying controls" routine but it's a very enjoyable game that is easy to learn. I think I had more trouble beating Mystique than I should have, but the Blob was a piece of cake.

So now I'm at the point where I must face a tank. After a couple of errors, I found myself facing the tank by myself as Cyclops. Anyone have any advice to offer?

And I'd be interested in just hearing about what people thought of the game?

Mad Dog - December 31, 2004 03:29 PM (GMT)
I don't remember with the tanks. Probably Cyclops or Storm would be best for that. When you get to the flashback with Juggernaught just pound him and don't do anything fancy. Also think out leveling your characters carefully.

But I loved the game. I liked that my friends could just come over and play for a bit and I never really had to change anything about it.

Hmmm... this game sounds awfully tempting... (looks at wallet)

So far I'd say it is well worth the money (though I didn't buy it, it was given to me as a Christmas gift).

Thanks for the tip! I hope that I'll have my team intact next time I face the tank and that I can stand back and shoot as Cyclops or Storm while Wolverine and Ice Man do the dirty work.

I have to say I'm not really impressed. The amount of times I'm Wolverine, and Cyclops decides to walk off a cliff, IS enough to make me consider trading it in

Mad Dog - January 9, 2005 01:09 AM (GMT)
I haven't had trouble with that but I've heard of it being a problem. I think a built up Nightcrawler lessens that problem too. I had more of a problem with teammates burning through all their good attacks on the first waves of nothing.

SamoaRowe - November 9, 2005 12:37 AM (GMT)
I was watching Plague and one of his pals play the Gamecube version and they did not know anything about the tanks that I referred to in the original post. Are PS2 players just lucky?

And I finally have been playing more of the game since. I got it for Xmas last year and I hardly had time to play, but lately I've been mowing through missions.

You just broke my bump record... I bumped something lasted posted in on January 22nd the other day, and now you bumped a January 8th last post topic.

:D What an accomplishment, I must say I am proud.

January 8th feels as if it was so long ago too.

Wasn't that the date of New Years Revolution? triple H winning the title = the awesomo!~!

 If it wasn't the exact date, than it was pretty close to it.

Just think... in January 2005 the champions were...

WWE Champ: JBL
WWE Tag Champs: Basham Brothers
US Champ: John Cena
CW Champ: Funaki

World Champ: Triple H
IC Champ: Shelton Benjamin
World Tag Champs: Eugene and Regal? I don't remember.
Women's Champ: Trish Stratus

To think, out of all those title holders Trish Stratus is the only one still holding the same title.

(cries) What a sad time to be a wrestling fan... at least Kane came back to squash Snitsky. :D

SamoaRowe - November 9, 2005 01:13 AM (GMT)
And at least I've gone back to X-Men Legends to ensure that Magneto doesn't enslave the human race B)

Scrooge McSuck - November 9, 2005 01:14 AM (GMT)
Eh, X-Men Legends wasn't that good. Star Wars Battlefront = Teh awesomeo~!

Uh oh... I hit a new low. Saying the same joke twice in one topic!

Edit: I was still Charlotte Bobcat back in this topics origin... damn my user names suck ass.

Mad Dog - November 9, 2005 01:16 AM (GMT)
You're insane. Battlefront was good but there was barely anything to do in that game. My friend and I rented and beat everything in the course of a weekend.

X-Men Legends was great except for the guys walking off cliffs and the fact that you could make Wolverine invincible by throwing a ton of points into his claws and healing.

I got II but haven't played it yet.

That's okay, it's still amusing.

Star Wars Battlefront is something I'll pick up whenever I have 16 bucks that I wouldn't rather spend elsewhere.

Scrooge McSuck - November 9, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
Who you calling insane?!!? Just because I hate good wrestlers, watch horrible wrestling, play some of the suckiest video games, and watch the worst movies of all time doesn't make me insane!

Mad Dog - November 9, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
Battlefront wasn't bad but there just wasn't enough to do. You could at least get a lot of playing out of X-Men.

That little fact about Wolverine is far from a bad thing :P

I've really been digging X-Men Legends, and I'm going to be sad when I finally beat it. Good thing there is a sequel out, and I'll just have to wait for it to get the Greatest Hits treatment.

Scrooge McSuck - November 9, 2005 01:23 AM (GMT)
You've had the game for a year and still haven't beaten it?

I'd say something insulting, but I still haven't beaten Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, and I've had it for 2 years (or whenever it first came out)

Mad Dog - November 9, 2005 01:23 AM (GMT)
I just found that after the first 4 levels that you can just run through stages with Wolverine and trash everything without breaking a sweat. You could do the same with Magma if you built her up right. There were too many deadweight people like Jubilee and guys like Beast that can't do things better than your regulars.

Yes, Scrooge, largely due to a bad habit I have with video games where long periods of time goes by without me playing them at all. This is why I rarely ever buy games, because I can never commit to them.

However, now I suddenly feel compelled to finish it.

And for further comparisons, I have Jak II. I got it for Christmas in 2003, and I'm only 55% through the game. I haven't touched it since spring.

I did beat the original Jak and Daxter, but even that took longer than it probably should have.

I try to limit myself to only getting games like Smackdown and such because you don't necessarily have to to "beat" them as much as just play it for fun.

Scrooge McSuck - November 9, 2005 01:28 AM (GMT)
I like a good mix of long games and enjoyment.

For example, I still only have about a 82% in GTA: San Andreas, and have had the game for a long period of time, but I don't want to play all the time non-stop, otherwise I got nothing to look forward to.

Games like Rocky or Muppet Party Cruise are enjoyable in small bursts, because of the replay factor.

Mad Dog - November 9, 2005 01:37 AM (GMT)
I play a lot of RPGs and I always get derailed at the end. I just have to get everything there is to get and that leads to me usually not finishing the game. There are at least 10 PSX era RPGs where my characters are strong enough to take on the last level but I'm still hunting things down.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - November 9, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
My brother and I just started up Soul Calibur III, and because I have to find everything too, I think I'm screwed. Damn game has about 500 things to unlock.

Scrooge McSuck - November 9, 2005 04:05 AM (GMT)
Cry me a river... unlocking things is all the fun.

SamoaRowe - November 9, 2005 05:03 PM (GMT)
Is it just me, or does X-Men Legends become a hell of a lot easier after the Arbiter level? The first couple of levels of the Arbiter gave me a lot of trouble, but after clearing it I have been absolutely sailing through the game. The only other level I've found to be really difficult at all is when I had to go back to New York to stop the riots and battle all those sentinels.

Mad Dog - November 9, 2005 08:15 PM (GMT)
Is that the boat level? If it is that's about when Wolverine starts becoming insanely overpowered.

Yes, it is the boat level. That level was hard as hell for me.

I'm not looking forward to the sentinel factory either.
