The 30 minute iron man match is just getting overplayed now. And it's silly in RoH when a regular meeting between the 2 would go 30 minutes anyway. And will this lead to a title match. Or will Steve Corino just show up and get a title shot for whatever reason.
The Last Free Voice - December 23, 2005 07:16 PM (GMT)
Damn man, rain on my parade why don't ya? I mean, it's supposedly to settle their feud in ROH. The next night in Cleveland is an anything goes match, suppsoedly their last one on one encounter in ROH.
Are you saying you don't think the Iron Man match will rock? I think it will. I'm geeked for it.
Mad Dog - December 23, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
They could just do a regular 30 minute match and get better heat out of it.
The Last Free Voice - December 23, 2005 07:45 PM (GMT)
Eh. I guess that's true. I'd be pysched either way.

Exactly, even if it leads to a title shot.............I highly doubt Joe OR Daniels have a fair shot of winning the title off of Danielson anyway.

Bah! This show was originall scheduled in Dorchester and planned on going. A few weeks ago RoH cancelled to make up a date in April in Dayton! A pox on RoH!

Man, I am SO pumped for the two RoH shows I'll be attending on Wrestlemania weekend.
God I rule.

I've been down on ROH for the past year or so..and I'll admit that's pretty stacked. While I hate the Iron Man gimmick (kinda kills suspense doesn't it?), it would be cool paying for your ticket KNOWING that Joe and Daniels is going 30.
Scrooge McSuck - December 25, 2005 04:46 AM (GMT)
Don't they always go that long though? For once I want to see a scrub vs. main eventer have an Iron Man Match.
Why? We all know the main eventer is winning, but how bad will he destroy the guy, and will the sacrificial lamb get any falls?
The Last Free Voice - December 31, 2005 06:51 PM (GMT)
It's been announced that this show will be the second annual Trios Tourney. I've always loved six man matches (I don't know why, but as a kid I thought six man matches were so cool...) so that's actually pretty cool.
Plus they've announced Jay Lethal and Bryan Danielson vs. Strong and Aries for the tag titles.
SamoaRowe - January 11, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
On a totally unrelated note, I was looking through some old posts on yahoo, and last January I made a list of 2005 predictions. Two of them came true.
1) Cena would win the WWE title at WrestleMania.
2) CM Punk would be the one to defeat Austin Aries for the ROH title.
I just thought that was kind of neat B)
The Last Free Voice - January 11, 2006 02:54 AM (GMT)
Sal, Tony and Milano are the second Trios Team.

Sydal, Evans and Yang. Man, do you all just skip ALL my posts?
Real F'n Show - January 11, 2006 03:35 AM (GMT)
OR you never mentioned it here...
The Last Free Voice - January 11, 2006 04:13 AM (GMT)
Oh. My bad. Thought I mentioned them as the first team, but I only said they announced the tourney. Apologies.
Real F'n Show - January 11, 2006 04:14 AM (GMT)
No problems.
Anyway, any predictions for other teams?
The Last Free Voice - January 11, 2006 08:16 PM (GMT)
Most likely The Embassy of Rave, Shelley and Abyss, and maybe Lacey's Angels with Collyer or Pearce.
The Last Free Voice - January 17, 2006 01:02 AM (GMT)
Goddamn, I know how to pick them. Last two are Embassy and Lacey's Angels and Pearce.
Big F'N Swigg - January 18, 2006 03:24 AM (GMT)
Real F'n Show - January 18, 2006 03:30 AM (GMT)
So, there's only four teams?
The Last Free Voice - January 18, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
Yea. They decided that last years dragged a bit, so they're shorttening it up. I mean, seven trios matches can be a lot for American Fans to sit through. I think the four will work out nicely. Plus the stip is that each member of the winning team can book themself in ANY match they want in the future. It's part of their "newfound focus on tag wrestling" gimmick they're running with.
Big F'N Swigg - January 25, 2006 05:50 AM (GMT)
Well, both Samoa Joe & Milano Collection AT are off the shows this weekend
Real F'n Show - January 25, 2006 01:33 PM (GMT)
Joe's got a staph infection. He's being replaced by Low Ki, so you guys get Daniels vs. Low Ki for the first time in awhile...
The Last Free Voice - January 27, 2006 01:06 AM (GMT)
I'm still really excited for this show. Disappointed in Joe not being there, but Ki vs. Daniels should really rock. Their matches (and Danielson) are what got me into ROH and seeing them go at it will be awesome.
The tag title match should tear the house down too.
The only bad thing is that I'm sick. I'll be there, just be there half dead. Is anyone else here going?
Big F'N Swigg - January 27, 2006 03:50 AM (GMT)
I'll be the bearded dude in the flannel with the blonde wife who knits during the show.
Real F'n Show - January 27, 2006 01:29 PM (GMT)
The Last Free Voice - January 27, 2006 07:06 PM (GMT)
I'll keep an eye out for ya. I'll be the skinny dork with the low-ki shirt and possibly RATM hoodie.
Big F'N Swigg - January 28, 2006 04:35 PM (GMT)
Please tell me you weren't the kid in the Hulkamania shirt and the XXX jacket.
And I must say I know understand EVERYTHING people say about ROH crowds. Some dipshit behind me yelling "KICK HIM IN THE TAINT!" all night long.
whitemilesdavis - January 29, 2006 03:30 AM (GMT)
I think I would have ahd to laugh at a taint reference.
So how was the show?
Big F'N Swigg - January 29, 2006 03:08 PM (GMT)
It was overall above average, but very ~eh~.
They opened with Sydal, Evans & Yang vs. Whitmer, Jacobs & Pearce w/ Lacey. The match was pretty good, but mostly because of Evans, Sydal & Yang. Jack Evans had a mind-blowing spot: Handspring to Styles-esque leap over the top rope which ended up with him landing on someone, finishing with a hurricanrana. I couldn't believe it. It got a holy shit chant. Jimmy Jacobs seemed to be taken to Lacey, and she didn't seem to reciprocate by the end of the match. Adam Pearce looked bad. My wife even said he was making it look fake.
Embassy vs. Sal Rinauro, Tony Mamaluke & Jay Fury was okay, but not what I'd hoped it would be. A lot of focus on Abyss, who played as if he were mentally handicapped, holding on to the tag rope. Lots of heat on Jimmy Rave, Lots of heat on Shelley. Here's where the crowd starts to bug me. Some retard on the other side of the entranceway tries to start an "Alex is emo" chant. Except it sounds like "ALICE EMO" because he's an idiot. The "Kick him in the taint" idiot and his friend keep yelling "TAG IN PRINCE JUSTICE!!!!" Now, I chuckled a bit the first time. But every time you see Abyss all night, that's all you hear for the whole match. Mixed in with "Kick him in the taint." If you're going to scream and yell all night, at least mix it up. Don't say the same two things all night long. I did yell "SHUT THE FUCK UP" at him early on, and it helped a bit. But not much. I'd never seen Mamaluke, Rinauro or Fury before. The Italians were a bit disappointing, but Jay Fury won the crowd over a bit. Mamaluke was good, but slow. Rinauro can take a beating.
Collyer vs. Castagnoli was alright, but the crowd already knew so much about Castagnoli, I didn't get to see his full act clearly. They were yelling "EYYY!!!" before he even got the chance. He seems pretty entertaining. Collyer got lots of heat for losing the mohawk, which is funny, because he got lots of heat for having it last time. Collyer does lots of focused body work, which I LOVED, but the crowd didn't seem to care so much about. It could be because they were watching Chris Hero. Or chanting with Chris Hero. I know he started a "boring" chant and people didn't realise he started it. Or they did, and they were assholes. Collyer gets tired of things not quite working his way, and goes for the chair. Ace Steel comes out and takes the chair. Castagnoli gets the win, Collyer leaves and Ace rips on Collyer. He then steals Pipers line with "I came to Dayton Ohio to chew bubble gum and kick ass, (Spits out his gum) AND I'M ALL OUT OF FRICKING BUBBLE GUM!!" Which leads to a match between Steel and Sterling James Keenan.
I would like to add that the crowd seemed a LOT younger than the last few times. Not as many biker-looking guys, and a lot more teenagers & guys in their early twenties. There were at least two people with signs. One guy had a "Dean Hill is my father" sign. ????? The other guy with signs was the kid that tried to start the "Alex is Emo" chant. He had a sign that said "ROH fears CZW" on one side, and "CZW fears ROH" on the other. Which is totally retarded. Especially since he kept flipping it over. He also had one for Alex Shelley with something for Austin Aries on the other side. It was rather odd, actually. The last few shows, the fans have been more respectful, more workrate oriented, and this crowd seemed more willing to put themselves over. It kind of spoils the show for me, honestly, as I spent half the show listening to morons trying to put themselves over or taunt the heels just because they want to taunt someone, not because they have something to say. I'll go over the rest of the show in a bit.
The Last Free Voice - January 29, 2006 07:48 PM (GMT)
Nope, that guy wasn't me. I think I know him from Myspace though. I was in the bleechers directly across from him though, probibly near where you were. I'll chime in with my thoughts on the show in a bit, after I go look at last night's results.
