Title: OAO Royal Rumble Thread

Mad Dog - December 19, 2005 02:50 PM (GMT)
We're going to have to have two threads going at once since these PPVs are so close together.

Scrooge McSuck - December 19, 2005 07:51 PM (GMT)
Spoiler: Suckbag Blandy is gonna win. :(

prof_plague - December 20, 2005 08:03 PM (GMT)
OK - let's pretend we don't know the spoiler...

Who do you think will win? And who would you want to win?

Scrooge McSuck - December 20, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
Randy Orton will probably win. Who I want to win? Someone with zero chance in hell, so it's not worth mentioning.

Translation: Scrooge wants Kane to win.

Scrooge McSuck - December 20, 2005 10:54 PM (GMT)
Have I become that obvious?

Yes, now quit posting here and get back to that Coliseum Home Video you were watching.

prof_plague - December 20, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
I bet that spoiler was a fake so the WWE can try an internet kayfabe with the interenet fans.

The real spoiler: Kane wins. Why else do you think he went over Triple H and put in the elimination chamber. Granted, he'll lose Elimination Chamber, but that's so he can be just over enough to win the Royal Rumble, and then be the most over in the company, and win at the main event at WrestleMania.

There - I said it. Sorry to have listed so many spoilers.

Ah yes, with the great Ventura/Garea debacle. I know it WELL.

Scrooge McSuck - December 21, 2005 03:00 AM (GMT)
I now have that on TWO Tapes. WOO! Tony Garea rules!

TheGreatWhiteChoate - December 21, 2005 03:57 AM (GMT)
Of course I'd love to see Rey Rey, but I know there's a snowball's chance of that.

Big F'N Swigg - December 21, 2005 03:59 AM (GMT)
I don't know, Snowball's had a pretty strong push as of late

HHH. I said it.

prof_plague - December 21, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
You just know Lashley will stay in the RR for a good chunk of time.

Colcollazo - December 22, 2005 04:54 AM (GMT)
After just watching Orton vs Taker from Armageddon (very good match), with Taker it's a toss up whether will be facing Batista at the Rumble or whether he'll be in the Rumble match. That's if Batista even defends the title at the Rumble as he and Rey are tag champs and they have this thing with MNM.

Scrooge McSuck - January 10, 2006 11:14 AM (GMT)
So far, the Rumble Participants...

Raw:
1. Rob Van Dam
2. Chavo Guerrero (def. Rob Conway to "Qualify")
3. Shelton Benjamin (def. Val Venis)
4. Kane (def. Snitsky)

Hmm... none of them are winning. I still say Orton. :(

SamoaRowe - January 10, 2006 04:12 PM (GMT)
I actually expect Triple H to win the Rumble at this point. I see Edge dropping the title back to Cena at the Rumble, thus setting up the long rumored Triple H vs John Cena main event.

Triple H did declare himself as well on RAW.

And Lashley declared on Smackdown.

SamoaRowe - January 13, 2006 08:56 PM (GMT)
I didn't want to start a new thread, but PWinsider is reporting that Armageddon did at least 290,000 buys, making it the most successful Armageddon since 2002 and if I am not mistaken, the most successful Smackdown pay-per-view ever.

Vengeance 2003 might have done a bit better, but I remember hearing it did a disappointing buyrate at the time.

Scrooge McSuck - January 13, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
WHA?!?! God dammit, I had that pegged for like a 180,000 buy number.

SamoaRowe - January 13, 2006 09:56 PM (GMT)
On one hand, that buyrate doesn't surprise me since it had a Hell in a Cell main event. On the other hand, it was Armageddon... and Randy Orton was in the main event... and it was a Smackdown pay-per-view.

jamiegeist - January 13, 2006 11:22 PM (GMT)
Oh, that was the Orton/Taker Hell in a Cell?

What else was on the card?

Batista and Rey against Kane and Big Show?

Scrooge McSuck - January 13, 2006 11:48 PM (GMT)
Orton/Taker
Tag Champs vs. Tag champs
Benoit vs. Booker Match #4(?)
JBL vs. Hardy

Uh... that was pretty much the only interesting stuff. The card was rounded out with zero build-up matches like Juvi/Kash, Mexicools/MNM, lashley/2 guys, and the Boogeyman I think made an appearence.

And it was a well built-up HIAC, also that was worth while getting.

jamiegeist - January 17, 2006 06:56 AM (GMT)
Was just looking at a possible/confirmed list of Rumble entrants, and damn if this might not be one of the best Rumbles in history. From a talent standpoint, at the very least:

RAW
1. Masters
2. Carlito
3. chavo
4. RVD
5. Benjamin
6. Kane
7. Triple H
8. Big Show
9. HBK ("You get #1, cause I'm screeeeewing you". Lame)
10. Flair
11. Helms
12. Striker
13. Cade
14. Murdoch
15. Vis

Smackdown
1. Rey
2. JBL
3. Matt Hardy
4. Orton
5. Benoit
6. Mercury
7. Nitro
8. Finlay
9. Boogeyman (This should be fun)
10. Booker T (could see him screwing around the ring before a quick elim)
11. Hardcore Holly
12. Lashley
13. Psicosis
14. Crazy
15. Orlando Jordan

I mean, thats pretty good. Especially on the RAW side. I think it could be a real entertaining rumble match this year. And an undercard of Angle/Henry, Cena/Edge, and Boogeyman/JBL won't hurt either. I sure wouldn't mind seeing Flair defend the title either, and fucking losing it.

Colcollazo - January 17, 2006 10:51 PM (GMT)
Instead of Flair defending the IC strap I can see Kane and Show defending the tag titles against Carlito and Masters. If not that match but than yeah he can defend it against either Carlito or Masters. And if that's the Rumble match than it's being booked well.

jamiegeist - January 21, 2006 09:02 AM (GMT)
I'm gonna call a final 4 of Rey, Benoit, Orton, and Triple H. Just for fun.

Triple H and Orton can form a mini-alliance. Of course, someone (or both) are getting turned on in that thing.

Benoit would go, and then Orton when Triple H turns on him. Rey eliminates Triple H for the win. BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!. No...really...i'm hoping for this.

I would kill to see Rey win the title.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - January 23, 2006 08:35 PM (GMT)
I'm really looking forward to the Rumble, as it's typically my favorite.

jamiegeist - January 23, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
Me too. Rumble is definitely my favorite PPV. Just wish they would build it properly.

WWE.com just posted an announcement updating the list of Rumble participants:

Here's a list of all announced Royal Rumble Match participants:

RAW SUPERSTARS

1) Rob Van Dam

2) Big Show

3) Kane

4) Shawn Michaels

5) Triple H

6) Chris Masters

7) Carlito

8) Trevor Murdoch

9) Shelton Benjamin

10) Viscera

11) Chavo Guerrero

SMACKDOWN SUPERSTARS

1) Chris Benoit

2) Rey Mysterio

3) Randy Orton

4) Matt Hardy

5) Orlando Jordan

6) Lashley

7) Sylvan

8) Road Warrior Animal

9) Johnny Nitro

10) Joey Mercury

11) Simon Dean

They better do some cool Event Center thing where they run down the participants tonight. Fags.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - January 24, 2006 12:36 AM (GMT)
With a couple exceptions (Rey, Benoit), that's a pretty low quality Smackdown field so far.

jamiegeist - January 25, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
WWE.com changed the Rumble participants again. I don't care enough to go look, cause it'll change in a few hours when they think of something else.

Real F'n Show - January 25, 2006 11:55 PM (GMT)
Needs more Finlay. I guess there's four more spots left, though.

jamiegeist - January 26, 2006 12:18 AM (GMT)
Which is stupid that their "kayfabe" wwe.com website is showing a list of rumble participants, a list that isn't full, when they just ran a storyline to see who would get the "final spot" in the rumble on RAW.

Of course the fact that two announcers were fighting over it really makes you wanna disregard logic altogether....

Or the fact that one of the announcers said "Who did you beat? You have to qualify for the Rumble".....right....

Real F'n Show - January 26, 2006 12:28 AM (GMT)
I must have missed that. I'm guessing fucking Coach is in the Rumble, then?

Scrooge McSuck - January 26, 2006 12:31 AM (GMT)
Yes, he beat Lawler for a spot on Raw thanks to the Homo-Squad.

Real F'n Show - January 26, 2006 01:05 AM (GMT)
Somewhere, Val Venis sheds a tear.
