An okay turnout for the show. They tarped off most of the camera side and only one section on the hard side was empty.

DARK MATCHES & VELOCITY TAPING

(1)Sylvan defeated Ken Doane

(2) Doug Basham defeated A local guy

(3) Jamie Noble defeated Local guy

(4) William Regal defeated Scotty 2 Hotty

(5) Simon Dean did a promo

(6) Brian Kendrick and Paul London defeated Two local guys

(7) Orlando Jordan defeated Funaki

SMACKDOWN TAPING

(1) Boogeyman defeated Nunzio in a squash

(2) Kid Kash defeated Super Crazy

(3) Batista and Rey Mysterio defeated MNM to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions. Pretty decent match here. A lot of Eddie chants.

(4) Bobby Lashley defeated Paul Burchill in a squash.

(5) The Dicks defeated LOD 2005

(6) Booker T defeated Matt Hardy with the help of JBL

And finally, throughout the night, Randy Orton teased his retirement after meeting with a shrink. He comes out at the end, says he quits, starts to walk away, the Undertaker along with druids comes out and scares him back into the ring. Orton's pleading as the Undertaker approaches and one druid has hung around (guess who). The druid approaches the ring, raises an urn, distracting Taker leaving Orton to attack him. Orton beat him pretty good, chairshots, RKO, hit him with the urn. Undertaker bladed. Orton left and as he reached the top of the ramp, Undertaker sat up all groggy. Good end to an okay show.

When I first saw that Batista and Rey won the straps, I was pissed off. But then I realized that maybe, just maybe, it could lead to a unification, which makes me very happy. Most likely though, they won't, which means it is pointless and once again detrimental to MNM's momentum.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - December 14, 2005 07:53 AM (GMT)
Because I personally like Batista and Rey's chemistry as a tag team (in limited action) and don't particularly care for MNM, this is good news to me.

Scrooge McSuck - December 14, 2005 01:26 PM (GMT)
WWE fucks over MNM AGAIN in favor of a randomly paired up team... and now TWO belts are on an injured guy. Way to fucking go, WWE. I hope Batista breaks his legs* just to see what happens when two belts are vacated at the same time.

*-Scrooge, in fact, does not want any harm to come to Batista.

S.T. Strickler - December 14, 2005 01:51 PM (GMT)
Pretty much renders Mexicools vs. MNM @ Armageddon pointless.

That's the same thing I was thinking. Plus, when they want to push Mysterio................why is it always to bullshit secondary titles that mean NOTHING?

eStragand - December 14, 2005 05:38 PM (GMT)
No mention of the backstage skits, but it looks like the Juniors Division is circling the drain. Arena hallways of the world may never again be patrolled by Short Sleeve Sampson.

The first 3 TV matches sound like something I wanna' see. I like "big guy n' little guy" teams. I always thought WCW missed out on a Giant/Rey team (they did have a few tag matches against Nash and Konnan around August 97, though).

TehDoct0r - December 14, 2005 06:44 PM (GMT)
It's kinda retarded to make that Mexicools/MNM match pointless now. They better be going for unification, or that makes no sense.

prof_plague - December 14, 2005 06:53 PM (GMT)
Hm...Batista has a tag belt, so good-bye to the heavyweight belt.

eStragand - December 14, 2005 07:02 PM (GMT)
Although....when they have two big stars as a team...someone usually ends up getting accidentally whacked. Rey and Batista have a falling out and Rey takes over Eddie's vacated slot as main rival. They could have this incident take place during a unification match against Kane/Big Show. That'd kill 2 birds with one stone, right there.

That'd make DK happy...maybe?

Fuckin right. Any way to get Rey Rey near the World title and I'm all over it.

Amen, brother.

jamiegeist - December 14, 2005 08:11 PM (GMT)
Same here. Rey needs the strap, or at least a feud for it.

And yeah, I totally forgot about MNM v Mexicools, which is now, yes, fuckin pointless. I mean, Mexicools won a match to face the tag champs at Armageddon. They should crash the main event against the hosses.

Peter Griffin: Hmmm...that sounds like a good idea. So good that it's retarded.

eStragand - December 14, 2005 09:37 PM (GMT)
Has Rey had any World/Undisputed/WWE title shots since he's been in the WWE? Heh...at least WCW had him main event a Spring Break Nitro against Flair for the World Title.

Scrooge McSuck - December 14, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
He had one or two each against Eddie Guerrero and Brock Lesnar. None recently, I don't think.

Colcollazo - December 15, 2005 02:02 AM (GMT)
Both Kash/Crazy and Batista/Rey vs MNM both look decent. But yeah, why the fuck do they bury MNM again? MNM is the best team WWE has and look how are they fuckin jobbed out again after like 2 months of being tag champs. Now, MNM vs Mexicools is pointless.

But 2 positives can come out of this. A Tag Title Unification match at Armageddon as was mentioned earlier and a feud between Batista and Rey after they lose it back to MNM.

It looks like they're doing Hardy/JBL at Armageddon, which would at least get both of them on the card.

And egStragand, don't you remember Rey challenging Eddie for the title on the 3/18/04 edition Smackdown? They did a mini tournament that night where whoever won challenged Eddie for the title. That match turned out pretty good, it's underrated and it's one of the best matches in WWE for 2004. And I think he had a title match against Brock in October 2002, or maybe it wasn't for the title, but they had a match back then.

Scrooge McSuck - December 15, 2005 02:05 AM (GMT)
The Rey/Eddie match was decided by a gauntlet.

Benjamin def. Haas
Benjamin def. Mr. Ass
Mysterio def. Benjamin
Mysteiro def. Big Show (DQ)

I would cream my pants if they did that and actually got offense in.

Mad Dog - December 15, 2005 04:56 AM (GMT)
It fucking figures they'd railroad the tag team division on Smackdown right when I was really starting to enjoy it.

Heh. Nope, sure don't. :)

Most stuff in WWF post-92 I don't follow, and I was a WCW mark in the late 90's. I'll watch current stuff occassionally, but not consistently enough to follow the stories. Which is why I ask alot of obvious questions about what's going on.
