ROH World Title Match:
Bryan Danielson © vs. Naomichi Marufuji

GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title Match:
KENTA © defends vs. Low Ki

ROH Tag Title Match:
Sal Rinauro and Tony Mamaluke © vs. Roderick Strong and Austin Aries

ROH Pure Title Match:
Nigel McGuiness © vs. Claudio Castagnoli

AJ Styles vs. Alex Shelley

Samoa Joe vs. Jay Lethal vs. Christopher Daniels vs. BJ Whitmer

Jimmy Rave vs. Milano Collection AT

This show screams bland at me. I'm not a fan of 4 ways and they're wasting a lot of starpower this time. Whitmer also does nothing for me as a wrestler. He's the definition of bland indy guy. KENTA/Ki...... blah. Danielson/Marufuji will be ok but I don't see them meshing and why give Marufuji a title shot? Why not import Daniels or Rave into there?

Styles/Shelley and the tag title match look decent enough though.

dynamite kido - December 10, 2005 07:23 PM (GMT)
Normally I agree with your ROH card opinions MD...........not this time though. That show looks fucking swank to me.

Colcollazo - December 10, 2005 07:26 PM (GMT)
The card looks solid. I'm looking foward to KENTA vs Low Ki a little, and Danielson vs Marufuji, the 4 way and Styles vs Shelley all look decent too.

Big F'N Swigg - December 10, 2005 08:10 PM (GMT)
Whitmer could actually improve some, though. He's taking Submission wrestling classes at Jorge Gurgel & Rich Franklin's MMA Academy. That could actually make him worse, though.

prof_plague - December 10, 2005 08:34 PM (GMT)
Do you think Sal Rinauro and Tony Mamaluke will keep the tag titles, or do you think Generation Next: Strong and Aries will take the titles?

Mad Dog - December 10, 2005 08:54 PM (GMT)
I would hope that Aries and Strong win the belts.

SamoaRowe - December 10, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
I think the two TNA guys are not going to be holding any gold in ROH in the near future.

Mad Dog - December 10, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
They've gotta break that at some point. They'll be running out of guys to put belts on.

Real F'n Show - December 10, 2005 11:38 PM (GMT)
I think Rinauro and Mamaluke will keep the tag titles, but I could see Claudio winning the pure title.

Definately looks great to me on paper.

As a "just because" sort of thing? Or any main reason?

I would go with "The ROHbots jerk off to Claudio matches".

Mad Dog - December 11, 2005 01:49 AM (GMT)
Don't get the love for Claudio at all.......

or Tony Mamaluke for that matter. Ok jobber but that's it.

I haven't seen them wrestle so I really don't have an opinion.

Mad Dog - December 11, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
Mamaluke's ok if he has a really good worker to reign him in. He's got no transition offense so he's either using rest holds or hitting big spots.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - December 11, 2005 02:25 AM (GMT)
I'm actually interested in the Rave/ Milano match. I like both of their styles, though Milano far more than Rave.

Mad Dog - December 11, 2005 02:27 AM (GMT)
I think Rave's the first wrestler I've ever seen go from being completely overlooked and underrated to be completely overhyped and overrated.

That's probably happened to a lot of RoH wrestlers. And I know that sometime down the line, people will probably say the same thing about wrestlers like Low Ki, Homicide, Colt Cabana, Jay Lethal, Austin Aries, et cetera.

I think the total opposite. I thought he was horribly overrated, but I thought he's developed into a pretty solid heel who held his own in the last year against pretty good competition.

If Jimmy Rave never wrestled again, I wouldn't mind a bit.

Big F'N Swigg - December 12, 2005 04:45 AM (GMT)
The most entertainment I've got from a Jimmy Rave match came from Prince Nana.

QUOTE
1) Smash Bradley/Mitch Franklin vs Dempsey Bros: Went around 4 min. Double team back senton for the pinfall, alright tag match.

2) Pelle Primeau vs Shane Hagadorn: Pelle gets the victory with an armbar, the same variation used by Danielson over Strong two months ago.

Main Show:

1) Milano Collection AT vs "The Crowned Jewel of The Embassy" Jimmy Rave - Went about 14 min, Rave scores the victory after his pedigree, good match, great opener.

2) Azrieal v. "Classic" Colt Cabana: Went about ten minutes, entertaining look as Azrieal tried to make it a comedy match, while Colt was trying to be serious.

-Homicide came out, cut a promo, saying he just had shoulder surgery and will be out of action for roughly six months. Told Colt he's only here tonight for Corino, and for Cabana to stay out of his business. 'Cide had his arm in a sling.

3) RING OF HONOR PURE TITLE MATCH - Nigel McGuinness © v. Claudio Castagnoli: Claudio used iron when ref was knocked out and got the pinfall in about 15 minutes. However, the second ref saw it and reversed the decision to award the match to Nigel via DQ.

4) Steve Corino v. Alex Shelley: Shelley over Corino with a rollup after 13 minutes. Homicide jumped Corino after the match and tried to pour Drano down Steve's throat. Colt came out to make the save, however 'Cide put him down and poured down Colt's throat. Students came out to save them. No big intro for Corino since Nana grabbed his announcer and pushed him down before he began.

5)FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH - Samoa Joe v. Jay Lethal v. "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels v. BJ Whitmer: Joe came out to his "Champ Is Here" theme since he had the X title with him. Catfight between Lacey and Allison, and Danger was wearing the nun outfit. Joe hit Daniels with a Musclebuster on X title. BJ took Joe out with chair. Lethal took out BJ with springboard dropkick, then Lethal gets Daniels with the swandive headbutt. Was a totally kickass match.

6) Davey Andrews v. Ricky Reyes: Reyes over Andrews in about 2 and a half minutes with a dragon sleeper. Took a lead pipe to the trophy. Aries came out to stop him, running him off. Aries cutting a promo right now.

7) RING OF HONOR TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH - Tony Mamaluke & Sal Rinauro © v. Generation Next of Austin Aries & Roderick Strong: Roderick lit up Sal with roughly 20 chops, Rinauro was bleeding from the chest. Aries/Strong win after Roderick hits a half-nelson backbreaker on Sal, with Aries following up with a 450 for the pinfall in 18 min. Great match.

8) RING OF HONOR WORLD TITLE MATCH - "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson © v. Naomichi Marufuji: Danielson wins in 22 min after a series of pinfall sequences. Very awesome match. Streamers for both men, crowd chanting "Please come back!" to Marafuji afterwards. Embassy on the ramp at end of match to demand title matches against Dragon.

9) GLOBAL HONORED CROWN JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH - KENTA © v. Low Ki: KENTA pinned Low Ki after 2 Bushido knee strikes to win after 26 minutes. Ki nailed 2 Ki Krushers as well as 2 Double Stomps, and still wasn't enough. Halfway through, there was a "THIS IS AWESOME!" chant which was just deafening. MOTY chants afterwards, "Thank you NOAH" chants, "Please Come Back" chants, "5 Star Match" chants.

Sounds like a solid show...............besides the bullshit with the students.

prof_plague - December 19, 2005 07:34 PM (GMT)
The student matches are just for the audience, they're not on the DVDs - so nothing offensive in the long run.

True................until you are at a live show and the fans are turning on them before your very eyes.

Mad Dog - December 19, 2005 08:50 PM (GMT)
I want to personally choke the shit out of those morons that were chating "MOTY" and "5 stars" after the main event.

In all fairness................the match was probably pretty swank. Although I see your point. Keep in mind the awesomeness of KENTA...............and how far that means the ROHbots will go to cement that fact.

Mad Dog - December 19, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
I admit the match sounds good but pretensious and wrestling don't mix and those chants definately cross into the "you need your ass kicked" category. I have to be honest though, RoH crowds have ruined more than one match for me. The chanting there has gotten counter-productive and I think it's mostly the fans trying to get themselves over as "best in wrestling." If Kobashi or KENTA comes over, it's ok to just react like people did at Mania 18.

Though some of the guys at other boards are hilarious. They were talking about RoH fans are the only ones that appreciate a good technical match. I honestly haven't seen a show where the fans didn't sit on their hands for the really deeper matches. It almost never fails.

It's also funny that the same RoHbots whine and whine about TNA crowds which are nowhere near that bad.

Hello ROHbots, meet the people of Japan.

Mad Dog - December 20, 2005 12:14 AM (GMT)
I find it laughable because there are plenty of averaged intelligence rednecks from the 60s/70s/80s that probably appreciate a technical wrestling match more than any of the RoHbots do. AWA and NWA fans especially.

Big F'N Swigg - December 20, 2005 02:03 AM (GMT)
As much as I love to be involved in a crowd, people usually get a bit overexcited and trigger happy with the chants these days.

My least favorite is "This is Awesome" followed by a usually undeserving "Holy Shit" chant

Real F'n Show - December 20, 2005 02:23 AM (GMT)
Don't forget that fucking homo "You're both awesome" chant for AJ and Daniels at BFG...

Big F'N Swigg - December 20, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
Let's not bring the TNA crowd into this

Scrooge McSuck - December 20, 2005 03:10 AM (GMT)
TNA fans suck, ROH fans are annoying. Argument settled. :D If I have to watch a show with the mute button on, I won't even bother.

I have to do that with TNA, but it's for more than the fans.

The Last Free Voice - December 20, 2005 03:29 AM (GMT)
I don't see why people care so much about idiot fans. I've never seen a match where the fans actually detract from the match in the ring. Be it ROH, TNA or WWE...

Big F'N Swigg - December 20, 2005 03:41 AM (GMT)
You see, the fans are part of the flow of the match. If they really are into the match, they help gauge the ebb and tide of the pacing. If the fans are too into themselves, or don't care, they can really fuck up how you perceive the match. Same goes for commentators, too. Thus my distaste for TNA

The Last Free Voice - December 20, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
I've never had the fans ruin a match for me. The announcers, yes.

Scrooge McSuck - December 20, 2005 03:52 AM (GMT)
A hot crowd is a good thing (see: Hogan/Rock. That much would've been balls if it were dead, or if the crowd did nothing but chant). I find constant chanting during every match obnoxious and annoying.

Big F'N Swigg - December 20, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
I find consistent chanting annoying because it shows the crowd doesn't care about the match, but what they're chanting. So I have a harder time getting into the match when I know the crowd there doesn't care.

Mad Dog - December 20, 2005 06:10 AM (GMT)
RoH announcers are awful. Please stop talking about a match as a MOTYC during the match.

They remind me of JR in the Raw vs. SD game, he always says "This has to be a five star classic!", and I'm playing a diva elimination chamber.
