Title: New Japan changes 1/4 Dome show main event

"Kazuyuki Fujita sent word to New Japan that he was pulling out of his main event match against IWGP champion Brock Lesnar on 1/4 at the Tokyo Dome.

The word came suddenly to New Japan. Riki Choshu, before today's show in Osaka, announced Lesnar vs. Shinsuke Nakamura as the main event of the show.

In Japan, there appeared to be no concern whatsoever with WWE legal actions potentially blocking any of Lesnar's matches."

I have an easy solution to this. Brock Lesnar vs. Giant Bernard.

I actually like Nakamura/Lesner.........

I think they'd draw a better crowd with Lesnar/Bernard.

Honestly, does it even matter?

The dome woundn't sell out if Inoki was coming out of retirement to face Lesner himself.

Yeah, but if you can pull in an extra 5 or 10 thousand people with the big gajins facing off then why not do it? Getting Bernard was a big deal for New Japan.

Well, that is true. But who knows if that would even garner 5 to 10 thousand more tickets to be sold?

I'm not really arguing with you about the person that should be fighting Lesner as much as I'm commenting on how dumb it is for them to run the Dome anyway at this point.

This is the last Dome show from what Inoki has said. 2006 is going to be an interesting year for the Japanese scene. All Japan looks to be dead in the water and New Japan looks like it's ready to finally get it's act together.

I'm sure, but a few injuries and some more bad decisions and NJ might be dead in the water soon itself.

I think Lesnar will do a lot for them. Also having Antonio Inoki's influence gone can only be a positive for them.

Oh, I think Lesner will be great for them. But they are going to have to keep a nice crop of talent to face him for the title and it seems to me that NJ's biggest weak spot is building talent correctly. Hopefully like you said though, that won't be a problem since Inoki is out of the fold.
