That time of year is here again, and I need to get my mom and dad something that doesn't suck for Christmas. Just looking for general ideas here. My mom and dad are pretty normal, so I'm just looking for generalities here. Maybe past gifts? Help me out here.
I thought DVD's of their favorite shows/movies would be a cool way to go. Last year, I got my mom the complete "Lassie" series and my dad an old 30's cliffhanger "Tarzan" series. I was over there last week, and both are STILL unopened and in their shrink wrap.
But the one thing I got 'em that they LOVED was a gift card from Village Inn. Happier than pigs in shit. They called me up, right before they went out to use it, and right after they got back.
But they're seniors in their late 50's, so your mileage may vary on a Village Inn gift card.
Go the uncreative way...

I hate gift cards. Nothing says "i'm lazy and unoriginal" like a gift card. Although it is easy, and you can't fuck it up very easily.
