Dark Matches/Velocity:

1. Ryan O'Riley pinned Aaron Averez.

2. The Dicks pinned Scotty 2 Hotty.

3. Paul London and Brian Kendrick pinned Vito and Nuzio, great match!

4. Simon Dean pinned a "jobber".

5. Matt Hardy pinned Sylvan.

Smackdown!:

Smackdown opened up with JBL and Jillian Hall in the ring. JBL was talking about his eye "injury" from last week, then Rey came down to the ring for a match.

1. Rey vs. JBL went to a DQ when Orlando Jordan interfered in the match. Batista ran down to help Rey. This led to Teddy Long making it a Tag-Team match for the main event for tonight.

They showed a clip of Randy Orton backstage with his dad, telling him he was going to call out The Undertaker tonight.

Randy enters the ring and starts talking, then old vignettes start showing of Undertaker beating other wrestlers from his Hell in a Cell matches. Then we heard Undertaker's voice reading quotes that were shown on the Titantron.

2. Joey Mercury, With Nitro and Melina, vs. Super Crazy, with Juvi and Psicosis. Super Crazy wins with a moonsault. After the match, Kid Kash ran in and beat up Juvi while MNM beat up the Mexicools.

Next was a backstage segment with new Smackdown interviewer Kristal, from the 2005 Diva Search. She interviewed Booker T. and Sharmell.

Backstage segment with Randy Orton washing his face. Then looks in the mirror and sees the Undertaker, but turns around but sees no one.

Boogeyman vs. "Jobber". Boogeyman wins with pump handle slam. He is still eating worms too!

Backstage segment with Randy Orton again. This time he is talking to his dad, then turns around and his dad then has blood all over his face. Then he looks again then the blood was gone. Very funny segment.

3. Booker T. vs. Chris Benoit. Booker T wins with a chair to the back then his scissors kick. Booker T leads the series 3-0

They did another backstage segment, with Orton and his dad leaving the arena. They approached their car but couldn't open the door. The car then drove away by itself. Then when they turned around, Josh Matthews asked them a question. Then Josh quivered and everything he was saying was done in a Undertaker voiceover. Very funny segment.

4. Bobby Lashley vs. William Regal. Lashley wins with the Dominator.

5. JBL and Orlando, with Jillian Hall, vs. Rey Mysterio and Batista. Rey and Batista won with a Batista Bomb in a real good match. JBL faked a leg injury this time and left Orlando Jordan in the ring by himself towards the end of the match.

They're really stretching this whole "entertainment" part of WWE now. The Orton segments sound kinda cool, if this were a movie. How are they gonna convey these "visions" and "hallucinations" when we see them on the screen with him, and what the hell are Cole and Tazz going to say? I'm just curious if they can pull this off, so I'll be watching.

Mercury v Crazy sounds like a good pairing to me, and Kid Kash jumping Juvi got a very rare 'Smackdown Markout!' from me. I'll be watching for that too.

Oh, and eating worms = ratings!

Now this is where Benoit wins the next 3 matches, tying to the final, 7th match.

And didn't that mirror thing happen during the Hogan/Warrior feud in WCW?

Don't remember, but yes, their going for the Red Sox thing here with Benoit/Booker. Big comeback.

In matchup number 6, Booker should take Benoit outside the ring and just like, pin him down, holding him in place for the double countout. He would be hopeful that the decision would be a draw, thus giving him the win, since Benoit couldn't get enough wins to pull it off. Just something like this would be a nice realistic touch that you usually don't get with characters.

Although realistic, it's anticlimatic.

I really wish they'd push Regal and Birchall in the tag team division. Sounds like the usual lackluster effort on Smackdown lately.

They really need some starpower on there.

Friday Night Smackdown! continues to be must miss television. :(

I would have been with you on that about a month ago. Now, I say fuck it. Regal should be pushed as a singles guy considering how strapped they are for talent.

SD definately has the better tag division so maybe Burchill/Regal should stay, but then again, the only real good workers on SD that are left ever since Eddie passed away are Benoit, Rey, Regal and the cruiserweights (mainly London, Kendrick, Noble, Mexicools, Nunzio), and you know damn well they're not getting pushed.

Looks like a real solid show to me, Mercury vs Crazy, Booker vs Benoit #3 and JBL/Jordan vs Batista/Rey all look decent. It's gonna be a real decent week in WWE considering how fun Raw was last night with the court stuff and the Edge/Michael Hayes stuff, plus they had a solid tag match with HBK/Shelton vs Angle/Carlito. SD looks like it's gonna be decent too, good tag main events this week.

Regal's getting older though. A tag team would be easier on his body.

jamiegeist - December 6, 2005 10:50 PM (GMT)
And just to be fair, his work just isn't real in sync with what the E seems to want from guys. I'm actually shocked he is still on the roster. Not cause he can't work, but just cause he doesn't seem to fit any more.

Mad Dog - December 6, 2005 10:55 PM (GMT)
He's a friend of HHH, he's not going anywhere.

Big F'N Swigg - December 7, 2005 02:43 AM (GMT)
Honestly, he doesn't fit. But it's in a good way. It's a positive contrast that helps the product maintain freshness. And I do think it would be good to let him have another singles run. Maybe have Burchill be his bodyguard type. And then launch Burchill after a turn or something.
