Title: Rumored Royal Rumble Winner, WM 22 News
Colcollazo - November 30, 2005 05:15 PM (GMT)
| QUOTE |
Randy Orton is currently penciled in to win the 2006 Royal Rumble in Miami and then go on to WrestleMania 22 where he is expected to win the World Heavyweight Title against Batista. WWE is very adamant about making up for his first reign which was considered very disappointing. WWE feels that Orton will be one of the top stars of the future, Batista is already 40-years-old, so his days on top are fairly limited.
John Cena is expected to retain the WWE Title against Triple H at Mania.
- pwtorch.com |
Can Batista really hold the title that long being injured?
Cena retaining at Mania is fucking bad, him holding the strap that long is even worse.
dynamite kido - November 30, 2005 05:18 PM (GMT)
At this point, I'd rather have HHH as champion than Cena.
whitemilesdavis - November 30, 2005 05:23 PM (GMT)
I don't know. I am loving watching the crowd turn on him.
SamoaRowe - November 30, 2005 05:28 PM (GMT)
You just know that the second Triple H wins a world title again, you'll regret ever thinking that you wished him over Cena.
I think they should consider a Cena heel turn, but I still don't have a problem with him holding the belt.

Seriously, no I wouldn't. I fucking hate Cena right now. At least HHH is tolerable to me in the ring.
SamoaRowe - November 30, 2005 06:27 PM (GMT)
Well, there have been times in the past when I've thought "Wow, I wouldn't mind Triple H winning the title again" but then when he does and everything sinks, then I regret thinking that.
Besides, I don't think Cena is that bad in the ring, he has had quite a few ppv outings that were worth watching, regardless of whether he was being carried or not.

Nonetheless, I fucking hate him in the ring. The only match that I've seen him have since he had the title that I really liked was him vs. JBL at Judgement Day. Everything else IMO, has been mediocre or total shit.
prof_plague - November 30, 2005 08:04 PM (GMT)
So, a heel is going to win a main event title at WM? Fan-ta-stic. I hope it will be tastefully, and yes, Orton is probably going to be the future of WWE - but do we need him main event all the time now?
TheGreatWhiteChoate - November 30, 2005 08:08 PM (GMT)
I have no problem with Cena as champion, but I do expect them to groom some fresh blood to take over the title sometime next year. Quite frankly, you'll never be happy with any champion for an extended period of time, at least not with the available choices.

My thoughts exactly. It wasn't too long ago everyone was complaining that we had to see Triple H as champion.

I won't lie, when Cena first got the title, he wasn't as motivated in-ring; but knowing he could lose the title (because of backstage politics, or whatever) might make him motivated again...and that's the Cena I like.

And we don't want the title changing hands ever couple of months. Do you want me to remind you all of 1997?
jamiegeist - November 30, 2005 08:56 PM (GMT)
I hate Triple H more than anything, and I would rather he wins the title than Cena. Cena is a fuckin chump.
Orton v Batista at Mania sounds lame as well.

Do you mean 1999 when the title changed hands something like 13 times?
Colcollazo - November 30, 2005 09:54 PM (GMT)
Personally, I'd replace Orton with HHH as the Rumble winner and have HHH take the strap off Cena at Mania.
Also, Orton can take the title off Batista at the Rumble instead.
jamiegeist - November 30, 2005 10:00 PM (GMT)
Orton should beat Batista for the title soon, and then Rey can beat him at Mania against all odds.
Cena needs taken out of the Main Event picture. If they could get Angle turned again, I'd take Angle/Triple H at Mania. Or shit, even HBK/Triple H :ducks quickly:
dynamite kido - November 30, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
I swear to god if they put the title on Rey..............I wouldn't bitch once.....about anything they do.

I completely agree.
Then again, when the Eugene character initially got over in 2004, I said I wouldn't question WWE again either. But look where that lead to...
TheGreatWhiteChoate - November 30, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
I would kill to see Rey as the champion. But I still don't have a problem with Cena as the champ. Let's face it: you're all going to hate the next champ after a month or two anyways, because there's a limited pool to choose from. Cena's really not that bad.

That's different though. That gets the title off the injured Batista, gets Orton as champ, and a face to win the title at WM.

I don't see why Cena needs to be taken out of the main event picture. Sure, Angle vs. HHH wouldn't be bad as a WM main event, but as long as the match/hype made sense.

God help you if I ever find you... I wouldn't find if I hadn't seen it so many times already. ...And so many times without a real sort of build-up, besides the "I don't like you! This goes way back! Let's have another grudge match!".
jamiegeist - December 1, 2005 08:06 AM (GMT)
Thinking again, I might be able to stomach Cena/Triple H if it has any kind of decent build up. I hate to admit it, but I had the smallest of itsy bitsy markouts when they had their confrontation after Triple H returned to RAW. REALLY small, I swear.
So as long as it isn't "Thats MY Title", I will go for it. I just want him to end this whole Angle feud, cause its all wrong also. I hate Bischoff trying to "screw" Cena, cause he isn't corporate or something. Its just so fuckin tired. They should've ran with the street punk meets ring vet thing they started with. Maybe it'll get Cena to adapt his style much like Austin (re)did during his runs with Jericho and Benoit.

When convicted HHH haters are demanding the title be put back on Trips, he does suck that bad.
jamiegeist - December 1, 2005 08:57 AM (GMT)
I'm gonna have to agree with Scrooge here. He really is that bad.

Based on what exactly?
When it comes down to it, wrestling is still a business and Cena is a merchandiser dream come true. As soon as people stop buying his merchandise, then may be the WWE will take the title off of him. Even if he has got booed a couple of times, he's still popular. If he's getting booed but still getting a reaction, then have him turn heel. Either way he's still ontop.
whitemilesdavis - December 1, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
He's clearly not poplular. He's getting booed everywhere against everybody.
TheGreatWhiteChoate - December 1, 2005 05:58 PM (GMT)
I'm not hearing a whole lot of boos when I see him...some, maybe, but everybody gets booed to a degree.

He's been booed at SS and on Raw against Angle. That's hardly against everyone, everywhere.
jamiegeist - December 1, 2005 06:35 PM (GMT)
I've been hearing it every week for a long long time. But I will agree that pretty much everyone gets booed.
I just hate the current direction more than anything. Yes, he sucks in the ring, and that won't change overnight. But he seems to have regressed from if you look back a year or so ago. Also, his character is so bland right now, which isn't his fault necessarily, but I'm just sick of him.

He probably just needs to be repackaged, perhaps he needs to start rapping more.
SamoaRowe - December 1, 2005 08:00 PM (GMT)
I think if a heel would just be allowed to totally destroy Cena in a beat-down (anyone but Triple H really) it would help Cena. I think a big reason why people boo Cena is because he isn't vulnerable enough.
Real F'n Show - December 1, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
Trips vs. Cena? Even if I am going to 'Mania, that sounds like shit. I don't even know who to cheer for...
They better do like Malenko vs. Benoit in an Eddie Tribute match or something to make up for it...
whitemilesdavis - December 2, 2005 02:04 AM (GMT)
No, they already did their "touching" Eddie tribute on Smackdown.

I really hate that they're basically trying to turn Cena into "Rock-lite." It reminds me of when Ruso went to WCW and tried to turn Booker T into the Rock

nope, not that I know of
Scrooge McSuck - December 2, 2005 03:04 PM (GMT)
Big Dust' is booking, not Vinnie Roo. What the fuck is up with me spointing off stupid names for everyone?
And Cena has been getting boo'ed in all of his "major" title defenses, namely every PPV for the last 3-4 months and the big matches in between that are for the titles.
