Title: Guilty Favorite Wrestlers/Gimmicks
Description: From the 1990's

Title says it all I think. What wrestlers or gimmicks did you like, that majority of fans would call horrible or wrestlecrap?

Here's mine...

WWF

Ludvig Borga: He just looked cool to me. Sure, the Enviromentalist gimmick really was kinda stupid, but he made Tatanka (Buffalo!) his bitch on the 10/30/93 Superstars to end his lame undefeated streak, and made fun of Lex Luger.

Well Dunn: Jobber Team extraordinare... I have almost all of their Superstar vs. Superstar matches, and they never pinned a team in any of them. I did like their silly outfits (bow ties and g-strings, oh my!).

Mr. Hughes: Hoss! Hoss! Hoss!

The Narcissist: I didn't mind Luger, but this gimmick I found to be pretty cool. Too bad they aborted it for the lame "Made in the USA" crap that made Luger look more like a pussy.

WCW

Arachniman: I've always liked Brad Armstrong, and him dressing as a Spider-Man rip-off was pretty funny.

The Black Scorpion: I'm probably the ONLY person who liked this angle. One of the first WCW angles I remember seeing, as I wasn't a full time viewer until 1990. A little upset though it ended up being Ric Flair :(

nWo Sting: One of the few (maybe only) times where I enjoyed an impersination gimmick. At least the guy was built like Sting and kinda resembled him in the facial looks. Better than the Barry Windham thing where Windham was 4 inches taller and 40 pounds heavier than Sting, plus the face he looked nothing like Sting.

Hell yeah. The Berserker was awesome

I used to like Skinner when I was a kid.

I used to love Earthquake. And 95 WCW.

...And 95 WCW.

[high-pitched scream like in Ren & Stimpy]

I kinda liked it too. (Ducks garbage) But I hated Uncensored '95 (garbage rewinds back without being thrown) :)

Skinner bugged me. I think it was the chewing tobacco and how gross it tended to look.

Big F'N Swigg - December 30, 2004 02:57 PM (GMT)
It never bothered me, but where I lived at the time, nearly everyone chewed tobacco.

Mad Dog - December 30, 2004 03:44 PM (GMT)
That could be. I was never really around people who did the whole tobacco thing so that might be why it grosses me out.

Also who didn't love the Hussing from the Berzerker.

Scrooge McSuck - December 30, 2004 06:20 PM (GMT)
HUSS! HUSS! HUSS! Did The Berzerke ever cut an actual promo on WWF Television?

For comedy, everyone get a copy of (I think) Wrestlefest 1992. Features a segment called Throwing a Party with the Berzerker. Just so... oy.

PedigreeMC - December 30, 2004 11:22 PM (GMT)
Man you guys are bringing up some great memories. Remember the Berzerker's finisher when he got to use it on rare occasion? He just heaved people over the top rope like an animal. Loved it.

I liked Mr Perfect ALOT! Probably one of my favorite alltime WWF heels.

As far as the crappy gimmicks, Men on a Mission comes to mind.

how could no one mention Repoman? that was one of the greatest gimmicks, ever! IRS was also highly entertaining....considering the crappiness of the character.

Scrooge McSuck - January 1, 2005 05:04 PM (GMT)
Repoman was great because of the over-the-top looneyness of the character. His matches sucked of course, but too damn funny... anyone ever see the Repo-Cam segment on several Coliseum Videos? (Invasion of the Bodyslammers to name one). He repoed Bill Alfonsos car!

PedigreeMC - January 1, 2005 05:29 PM (GMT)
I think I remember the Repo Man repoing Dusty Rhode's pickup truck. Did I dream that? I do remember him taking Chico Ramon's Gold and Tatanka's feather though.

Scrooge McSuck - January 1, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
I think you dreamed the Rhodes part. Repo Man only debuted around the time of Survivor Series 1991, and Rhodes was long gone by then (left after Royal Rumble of that year).

Martel stole a feather of Tatanka once, and I.R.S. stole Ramons gold, so... ??? Maybe Repo did it too? :D

PedigreeMC - January 1, 2005 05:53 PM (GMT)
I reckon I should have gotten some more sleep after last night because coming in straight to work the shape I'm in is causing me to hallucinate. Forgive me. I need to go try to find some tapes from around that time because my childhood memories are letting me down.

Scrooge McSuck - January 1, 2005 05:56 PM (GMT)
Don't worry... I actually thought Andre the Giant won the 1987 Rumble Match back in the day. (there wasn't even one on TV! I was probably thinking of the 3/87 SNME Battle Royale, but he still didn't win!)

PedigreeMC - January 1, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
You know someone I hate to admit that I liked when I was smaller but its true. Earthquake. After Hulk Hogan came back from that beat down he took from him and slammed Earthquake on that table (ECW Hulk I like to call him), I became a fan of the huge one.

S.T. Strickler - January 9, 2005 06:26 AM (GMT)
I liked Tatanka during his '93-most of '94 face run.
