Title: Spidey 3 villain
eStragand - November 9, 2005 09:58 PM (GMT)
Decent picture. I'd say they nailed the character's look. Green Goblin and Doc Ock had some cinematic modifications (and rightfully so), but this is straight from Steve Ditko's drawing board.
http://spiderman.sonypictures.com/They can swap his jeans for a light blue pair, put him in a black t-shirt and they've got a villain for umm...Spider-man 11?

Spider Man 11: We're still milking the cash cow on these boring movies
Maybe Spider-Man will feud with the I.R.S. (not Mike Rotundo.. wait, yes, Mike Rotundo) over wrongful submitting of merchandise revenue.

Boring movies, eh?
Do you like anything, Scrooge?
Scrooge McSuck - November 9, 2005 10:26 PM (GMT)
The first was boring, the second not-so, but the acting is terrible. The only guy from 2 I liked was Doc Ock.

I don't see the point of making a "Spider-Man 11" joke when they are only going into the third film.
The first Spider-Man grew on me over time, but the second one was just all around great in my eyes.

No wrestling fan should be allowed to make a terrible acting call.
That being said, I liked the second one much better than the first. I'm a little afraid of the next movie having two villians, especially when one of them is Eric from That 70's Show playing Venom. That scares the hell out of me.

You know they'll fucking milk like 900 movies out of Spider-Man until someone catches on that it's basically the same movie except with a new villain.

You're not going to sell anyone for Spider-Man 3 with comments like those... Eric from That 70's Show? FOREMAN!?!? OH MY WHA?!!?

Believe me, I'm not trying to sell ANYONE one the idea of that guy as Venom. I agree they'll milk the franchise, but it might be difficult to do so if most of the principal actors leave after this one.

Actually, it sounds as if there will be more like three villains since the Green Goblin was teased for a comeback and all.
Scrooge McSuck - November 9, 2005 10:44 PM (GMT)
Thanks for moving this... jerk! I was posting a long winded comment and it didn't go through because of that.
Short and sweet: I guess they need to pack as many villains as possible for merchandise... I mean, incase they can't make another. :P

Don't forget Curt Connors is prominently billed too. You could be looking at four, which would either be awesome or really suck.

A Villain Gang-Bang on Mary Jane! Or is it Joe? I forget...
SamoaRowe - November 9, 2005 10:46 PM (GMT)
Hmm.... Batman and Robin had three villains in it and look how that turned out.
Then again, Joel Schumacher was the problem with Batman and Robin, not the characters... and the screenplay sucked too.
Scrooge McSuck - November 9, 2005 10:48 PM (GMT)
Everything about Batman & Robin sucked... and what the fuck was up with the close-ups of Batman and Robins cod-pieces (and nipples... and asses)!?!?

Sheesh...all y'all need to work on your defensive skills, cuz' the "Spidey 11" joke sailed waaaaaayyy over your heads. I wasn't poking fun at multiple Spidey movies..I was poking fun at Sandman's resemblance to Hydro-Man. A joke that's been tossed around ever since Hydro-Man debutted in the late 70's. The joke was that maybe they could get to Hydro-Man for Spidey 11, since the character is probably on Spidey's "C-list" of villains-- above Slyde and the Kangaroo, but below Kraven and the Shocker.
It was either that or lead off with a "Strobe" joke...but I doubt many folks have seen "The Specials".
Venom would most likely be a CGI-heavy character, so it wouldn't matter who they put into the role. I don't know who's who from "70's Show", but I'm guessing it's the little guy with the brown hair? He kinda' looks like Tobey Macguire, so it'd complete the original premise of Venom--which was to make him an "Evil" Spidey.

For what's it worth, you might get a chuckle out of the Batman:Animated Series episode "Legends of the Dark Knight". There's a scene where kids are talking about their ideal Batman...and one kid named "Joel" is seen climbing over department store mannequins offering some....umm, unusual ideas about Batman.

For those who dare, if you watch the directors commentary on "Batman & Robin" in the new Batman Legacy set, Shumacher apologizes for the movie. He also says that one of the biggest regrets he had was listening to the toy companies and the marketing departments.
