Title: OAO Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 Thread
Description: yeah.

Real F'n Show - November 3, 2005 01:15 AM (GMT)
So, I'm actually pretty pumped for the game this year. GM Mode, best CAW ever, title defenses in exhibition, and so on, this game looks WAY better than last year's "effort."

Anyone else getting it? I think it comes out the 15th.

dynamite kido - November 3, 2005 01:19 AM (GMT)
I get these every year and I always get MAD play out of them. I'll definately get my hands on this........

TheGreatWhiteChoate - November 3, 2005 01:19 AM (GMT)
Plague might get it for Xmas. That'd be pretty sweet, cuz then I can just steal it and play it without paying for it. Otherwise, I'd expect we'd split it.

Scrooge McSuck - November 3, 2005 01:26 AM (GMT)
Waste of money, says I. I'm still CONTENT (thank you, Swiggy) with my Smackdown!: Here Comes the Pain and Shut Your Mouth, because there hasn't been enough of a change that warrants wasting $50 every 6 months on a game with 4 more wrestlers, 1 more game mode, and :gasp: actual wrestler voices.

You're such a crotchety old man.

I wasn't as impressed with last year's, but this year's looks really good. Kinda broke my every two years rule that I use for Madden on that one, but oh well.

Get off my lawn you young hooligan before I get the hose!

If Plague and Dave get the game, I'm moving into their dorm whether they want me to or not B) I won't even mind the long commute to my school and work.

Hey, we'll be glad to let you live here.

But you gotta pay.

And bring chips. We love chips.

I read on IGN that the old-school steel cage will be in the game, as well as the WrestleMania IX site.

Scrooge McSuck - November 4, 2005 01:09 AM (GMT)
WHA?!?! WrestleMania IX?!?! (plunks down $50)

Real F'n Show - November 4, 2005 01:29 PM (GMT)
Yep. Blue barred oldschool cage and OUTDOOR WM9 site are confirmed, as well as the ECW ONS Hammerstein Ballroom.

Scrooge McSuck - November 4, 2005 01:39 PM (GMT)
The Manhattan Center?! GAH! I take back everything bad I've said about Raw vs. Smackdown 2.

dynamite kido - November 16, 2005 03:17 PM (GMT)
I bought this bad boy last night................

Anyone else?

jamiegeist - November 16, 2005 08:38 PM (GMT)
Are they still using the lame new generation grapple system or whatever? Or did they finally cave to my demands and switch to the No Mercy Grapple system and engine.

You gotta let me know how good it is. I'm really thinking about getting it.

dynamite kido - November 16, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
So far, I think it's fucking sweet and definately worth a buy.

Sweet. Another year of annoying the shit out of everyone with the Ultimate Bomber Pin for me!

prof_plague - November 17, 2005 02:16 AM (GMT)
Have you tried the Season mode? Is it better than the first SmackDown vs. Raw?

It's pretty sweet, although I'm sure it'll be repetitive. One really cool add on this year.............the General Manager mode.

jamiegeist - November 17, 2005 08:59 AM (GMT)
No for real, I haven't played a wrestling game since No Mercy. Whats the engine?

Real F'n Show - November 17, 2005 09:54 PM (GMT)
This game is fucking awesome. I love the new momentum meter and being able to store special, and holding select to regain stamina is also really cool. Too bad it's so damn hard to make Samoa Joe's tights in CAW...

Fuck. REALLY? I was going to definately make Joe this year since the Muscle Buster is in tact.

Yeah, the crotch blur really pisses me off, and there's no good "split tights" like Joe wears. Damn hard making KENTA, too. If you come up with something, let me know.

"Crotch blur?"

Scrooge McSuck - November 18, 2005 04:16 AM (GMT)
I hope it's not what I think it is... and if it is, I'm glad it's being blurred.

Real F'n Show - November 18, 2005 04:25 AM (GMT)
They have it so you can't put designs on the front of tights, for fear that some 11 year old would make a naked women or something...

Big F'N Swigg - November 18, 2005 04:28 AM (GMT)
So there's a blur on CAW when you want to put designs on the tights? Even when you actually put your wrestlers in tights? Why didn't they do like previous ones and put every wrestler in underwear?

Scrooge McSuck - November 18, 2005 04:28 AM (GMT)
Oh... I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to scream out "lame".

Will do, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for other CAW's too..........

TheGreatWhiteChoate - November 18, 2005 04:59 AM (GMT)
They can't blur my crotch! That's unAmerican!

jamiegeist - November 18, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
No, really, is the grapple system better or is it in the same mold of all the other Smackdown games. I hated them all, and never tried again after the first 1 or 2 on Playstation 2.

The last SD vs. Raw was decent for controls.

Scrooge McSuck - November 23, 2005 06:55 AM (GMT)
I caved in and ordered from Amazon. Hopefully it'll come by the beginning of next week. :)

A few questions...

1. Is WWE still being dicks when it comes to entrance music? (ex. using Kane's theme from 1997-2001 still)

2. What new gimmick matches added since HCTP?

3. Uh... what are the secret arenas? :P

4. What legends are unlockable? (read the horrible thing about Jake Roberts... BOO! FUCK YOU WWE!)

Not that I noticed. Everyone seems to have up to date music except Mysterio (but who really cares?)

QUOTE
2. What new gimmick matches added since HCTP?

Buried Alive and Fulfill your Fantasy since SvR, not sure since HCTP...

QUOTE
3. Uh... what are the secret arenas?

Wrestlemania 21, Wrestlemania IX, and The ECW One Night Stand venue (although I have no idea how to unlock them...)

QUOTE

Dibiase, Bret, Bulldog, Andre, JYD, Austin, Mankind, The Rock, Jimmy Hart, and 3 Hogans...

Scrooge McSuck - November 23, 2005 11:48 PM (GMT)
3 Hogans?!

WrestleMania 22 Main Event:
Hulk Hogan vs. Hulk Hogan vs. Hulk Hogan!

Real F'n Show - November 24, 2005 12:04 AM (GMT)
I actually did that for fun, simmed it. 80's Hogan fucking dominated, although I was pulling for Hollywood.

Big F'N Swigg - November 24, 2005 12:12 AM (GMT)
3 Hogans? What about Snuka? What about Dynamite Kid? What about Bam Bam? What about me? What about RAVEN?????

Scrooge McSuck - November 30, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
Oh my God... this game is so fucking awesome! (creams pants)

Edit: This is so damn realistic... HHH is the champ and he's cutting 20 minute promos!

Edit #2: After non-stop playing for quite some time, I can easily say this is a great game, but No Mercy is still the king of WWF Wrestling Games. :-P

Scrooge McSuck - December 1, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
This was so wrong... SPOILERS

in a story about the Undertaker's urn, the blowoff with Undertaker losing ends up him no selling death (again) and chokeslamming Eddie Guerrero into the coffin and slamming it shut.
