Title: I Dug Out The N64

Mad Dog - October 22, 2005 05:06 PM (GMT)
Can't decide between WCW, WM 2000 or No Mercy.

jamiegeist - October 22, 2005 05:44 PM (GMT)
Its gotta be No Mercy, doesnt it?

Scrooge McSuck - October 22, 2005 05:56 PM (GMT)
They're all the same game, except No Mercy has better CAW's and you can edit appearences of real wrestlers with a much larger selection.

Go with WCW. Relive the glory days before it turned into a bigger pile of crap.

Mad Dog - October 23, 2005 04:57 PM (GMT)
After playing all 3 No Mercy kind of bugs me. I hate the fact that when guys come out and interfere that they'll just stay in the match forever.

Scrooge McSuck - October 23, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
I notice they only stay around for about a minute, depending on what you do. If you catch them coming and start laying them out, it'll be quick. If you get zero offense, they'll stick around longer. I say run in and out of the ring, that way you won't lose, and it kills time.

Mad Dog - October 23, 2005 06:49 PM (GMT)
Ah yes, the other reason I hate the WWF versions of the games. I hate when people are countering everything you do.

dynamite kido - October 23, 2005 09:19 PM (GMT)
I used to have a unhealthy addiction to ALL of these games. I still wish that I had them actually....

Mad Dog - October 23, 2005 09:26 PM (GMT)
I still have guys to unlock through survival mode but it would take at least an hour to get Andre.

Mad Dog - October 23, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
No Mercy is definately my least favorite of the three. The spirit bar is useless in that game. If a guy's on danger he shouldn't be countering every month I throw at him.

Scrooge McSuck - October 23, 2005 11:35 PM (GMT)
WCW/nWo World Tour (or whatever it was called, I don't have it anymore) and Revenge I find a bit more entertaining when it comes to actual matches, but No Mercy is the leader for story mode and CAW (by a longshot for this one).

WCW vs. nWo was AWESOME! I played the hell out of that game back in the day. Never really played either of the other two, tho.

Mad Dog - October 23, 2005 11:42 PM (GMT)
My friends and I used to do battle royals for hours at a time every Friday after WCW/nWo came out. Ah how I miss the double crossings amd tripping guys up and costing them the match.

Scrooge McSuck - October 23, 2005 11:48 PM (GMT)
Ditto... just like every WCW Main Event at the time, I would always turn on my partner when he was pinning the last opponent... anyone have a copy of World Tour for sale? :D

Also loved beating up the fat Abdullah the Butcher guy. One time, the game glitched, and after whipping him into the rail, it bent. And loved doing Sting vs. Sting for some reason.

Mad Dog - October 23, 2005 11:49 PM (GMT)
You could probably get it cheap. I think you can get WCW vs. the World for PSX for $0.99.

S.T. Strickler - October 24, 2005 01:57 AM (GMT)
Years ago during the summer, me, my brother, and two of our friends stayed up until 5:15 AM playing WCW/nWo World Tour.

I got No Mercy for $6.

And yeah, the countering and interference are HUGE piss-offs. You have to be HHH to not get countered all the time

Scrooge McSuck - October 24, 2005 02:12 AM (GMT)
Bastard... I had to pay full price back in 2000 for No Mercy, but I did get WCW/nWo Revenge for $7 off eBay. :)

Big F'N Swigg - October 24, 2005 02:15 AM (GMT)
I got it at my local GameStop

jamiegeist - October 24, 2005 02:17 AM (GMT)
WCW vs the world. Holy shit. I remember playing this game so damn much. It was incredible at the same and had the best damn engine (hint hint, still waiting for something after No Mercy, you bastards). It was such a bizarre idea though, with a WCW roster of only like 15 or so, including Eddy Guerrero with the mexican mullet and mexican stache. I loved this damn game though, and I remember when we beat it or whatever, and got the The Giant. He was weird looking. I don't think he was "The Giant", but he certainly wasn't Andre either.

Its been a long damn time.

Mad Dog - October 24, 2005 02:21 AM (GMT)
I think I still have WCW vs. the World somewhere. I remember there were a lot of foreign guys in there. Liger was in as the Unknown I believe.

SamoaRowe - October 26, 2005 03:27 AM (GMT)
A minor gripe I had with No Mercy was that tag team partners don't make their entrance together. That always bugged me.

Though No Mercy is technically the superior game, my favorite is WM2000 because I played it more than any other game I had for the N64 (even more than Goldeneye).

Scrooge McSuck - October 26, 2005 03:28 AM (GMT)
Anyone know if WCW Mayhem (N64, since the topic is of N64)? Just ordered from Amazon for a few bucks. :P

SamoaRowe - October 26, 2005 03:32 AM (GMT)
I saw that game at Electronics Boutique the other day for $1.49, but for the Playstation.

Scrooge McSuck - October 26, 2005 03:34 AM (GMT)
Since you mentioned PlayStation, I have an unhealthy urge to find a copy of Thunder. God damn was that game horrible, and the fact they used authentic commentary made it worse! (Schiavone calling everything a Sidewalk Slam or whatever)

SamoaRowe - October 26, 2005 03:36 AM (GMT)
I really should grab the old cheapie WCW games I keep seeing at EB.

Actually, right now I only own two PS1 games: Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Battle Hunters.

I think I have almost three dozen N64 games, though most of them I bought this past year for dirt cheap at EB.

Scrooge McSuck - October 26, 2005 03:39 AM (GMT)
I've never been big on purchasing video games. My taste usually comes down to wrestling, sports, and recognized titles. Wrestling games are almost always the same (why waste $50 on Smackdown vs. Raw 2, when you have the first, and the only difference is 5 new wrestlers?), ditto sports, and my "familiar titles" are usually Mario, Castlevania, and Legend of Zelda.

You have about 2 dozen more N64 games than me, and 5 of mine are Wrestling. The rest are, shockingly, sports, Zelda, Castlevania, and Mario. :P

Remember smacking people with baseball bats?

SamoaRowe - October 26, 2005 11:36 AM (GMT)
You know, when I said I had three dozen N64 games, I thought I was making a rough estimate, but I just counted them a few minutes ago... and I have exactly 36 in my room. Scary.

I don't have some of the bigger name games, since my friend had them and I could borrow them frequently. I borrowed Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Paper Mario, and Banjo Kazooie so much, I played some of them more than games I owned. Since then, I've purchased Star Fox and Diddy Kong Racing for myself, and I want to borrow Paper Mario again... last time I borrowed it I made it all the way to the last level... and then got the PS2 and I promptly forgot about it.

Well, a few games I have for it are...

WCW/nWo World Tour
WCW/nWo Revenge
WWF WrestleMania 2000
WWF No Mercy
ECW Anarchy Rules
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Bunch of random sports games

I gotta head off on a school field trip, I'll post more later.

Name your price... or maybe you'd like a video game in exchange for PS2/Gamecube? :D

eStragand - October 26, 2005 06:21 PM (GMT)
pfft..amatuers. I still have a 1978 Pong/Hockey/Handball black and white system somewhere. Plus the Atari 7800 (which was their failed attempt to upgrade the 2600 to Nintendo-level)

Mad Dog - October 26, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
I have an Atari 7800 and around 120 games for it. I also have about 100 games for the NES.

Are you serious? I could probably find another copy of the game at EB for $1.49 and then send it to you in exchange for a Gamecube :P

Scrooge McSuck - October 26, 2005 07:50 PM (GMT)
Nice try... come on. Sell/trade to me. :D The nearest Gamestop (or whatever the shit place was called) is 25 miles away, and I don't drive, and I no longer trust eBay.

Hehe, it was worth a shot. Tell you what, next time I'm in EB I'll see if they have the game and if they do I'll pick it up and work a (fair) deal out with you.

Scrooge McSuck - October 26, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
:) (busts out shotgun) Go now... :D

Hehe, very nice...

I'll probably stop in tomorrow. I have to work in a few minutes and I won't have enough time to go into the mall before and the mall will be closed by the time my shift is over.

S.T. Strickler - October 27, 2005 03:09 AM (GMT)
Scrooge, if you want used games, then you should try out estarland.com. They've got used games for good prices.

By the way, the only N64 games I got (in regards to an earlier post) are Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, Mario Kart 64, and Cruis'n USA.

Scrooge McSuck - October 27, 2005 03:12 AM (GMT)
I found Mario 64 to be very... not enjoyable. I'm just not used to Mario in a Zelda style format (roaming around freely like that without the RPG style encorporated by the SNES game and Paper Mario).

:o BLASPHEMY!

Scrooge McSuck - October 27, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
I didn't say it's a bad game, but I couldn't adjust to the style.
