Who was more influenceal, the Ramones or the Clash? I suck at music, so I can't really say. Your thoughts?

The Clash was a better band, hands down. The Ramones though have had more influence. Today's pop-punk much more resembles the Ramones than anything the Clash ever did.

I pretty much agree with that. Sucks too, because the Clash kick ass. In fact I'm listening to White Riot right now. :D

I would say that it would depend on what kind of influence you are talking about. Pop culture....well, that's the Ramones 100%. But the Ramones were a terrible band if you are talking in the terms of being a musician. The Clash were more influencial on a political or musical way of thinking moreso than The Ramones would ever be though.

I would argue that the Ramones have the bigger influence. Most of the underground rock (metal, hardcore, industrial, etc) are influenced by the Ramones. The Clash have a great amount of influence, yes, but most modern day rock has something to owe directly to the Ramones. Whether or not thats good remains to be seen.
