He thanked all the former ROH champs for making the belt mean something. Austin Aries comes out to talk trash and hype the Main Event. Claudio Castagnoli Def. Nigel McGuinness in a non-title match. Claudio won with a backslide after 12 minutes of what was apparently a "tremendous" "outstanding" match. Ricky Reyes Def. Matt Stryker with the Dragon Sleeper Clutch. Said to be a total squash in the style of Reyes' recent wins over students. Sal Rinauro & Tony Mamaluke Def. BJ Whitmer & Jimmy Jacobs to retain the ROH Tag Team Titles. Champs were apparently quite over, and won with an amazing top rope russian legsweep into a powerbomb on Whitmer(!). Said to be a great match. Roderick Strong Def. Jimmy Yang in a solid match. Strong finished with 2 half-nelson back breakers and then a Blue Thunder Driver in about 10 minutes. Steve Corino comes out dressed as CM Punk, with Punk's tattoos drawn on in marker and "I Love Beer" on his chest instead of "Straightedge". Rips on WWE for the trademark thing and for ruining careers, and asks for a 5 bell salute for the wrestlers who had their careers killed by WWE "because apparently Vince has trademarked 10 bell salutes" Colt Cabana & Steve Corino Def. Homicide & Low Ki when Corino hit the Old School Expulsion on Low Ki. Good back and forth match with Corino playing face in peril. Both of the Rottweilers targeted Cabana, each hitting a Ghetto Stomp. Bobby Dempsey & Pelle Primeau Vs. Davey Andrews & Shane Hagadorn went to No Contest when Abyss hit the ring and destroyed all the participants. Abyss Def. Jack Evans Evans was accompanied by Jade Chung, so apparently she is the valet for all of Generation Next, not just Strong. Pretty much a squash with Abyss winning via Black Hole Slam. Samoa Joe & Jay Lethal Def. Alex Shelley & Jimmy Rave when Joe hit the Musclebuster on Shelley. Good tag match, especially the work from the Embassy. Bryan Danielson Def. Austin Aries to retain the ROH World Title. Danielson won with the Chickenwing in 31 minutes of a great scientific match. Both men recieved a standing ovation. |
