Title: Revenge of the Taker and Ground Zero
jamiegeist - October 12, 2005 12:40 AM (GMT)
Somehow I just stumbled onto these online, as these are only 2 of about 4 WWE PPV's from my "glory days", which is about 89-99 that I've never seen. Missed them when they aired because local bars stopped carrying them. Anyway, just finished downloading Revenge of the Taker, and I'm SOOO damn jacked for both of these.
Revenge of the Taker is first. This is my all-time favorite time for wrestling, as I was so enthralled with both the Shawn Michaels-Taker feud, and the Austin-Bret/Bret-heel stuff. I don't even remember the card, and it'll probably suck, but I do know Ground Zero features a supposedly awesome brawl between Taker and HBK.

Revenge of the Taker sucks until the last 2 matches. I mean it REALLY sucks. Ground Zero too. I'd do a formal review, but this is how it comes down to...
RotT:
1. LOD v. Owen/Bulldog - Owen/Bulldog weren't big enough miracle workers to carry a well-past-their prime LOD to a good match. And it had a shit finish.
2. Jesse James v. Rockabilly - Do I need comment?
3. Rocky Miavia v. Savio Vega - Yuck! Witness Miavia, minus charisma or any in-ring knowledge. Then witness that his opponent sucks more than him.
Good Stuff: Undertaker/Mankind and Austin/Hart
Ground Zero:
1. Goldust v. Brian Pillman - I like Pillman and all, but it was painful watching his matches during this time frame.
2. Briah Christopher vs. Scott Putski - As bad as you would imagine a BC match would be.
3. Crush v. Savio v. Faarooq - Puke....
4. Midgets!
5. Tag Team 4-Way: Boring match with zero interesting spots.
6. Bret Hart v. The Patriot: Starts out slow, but builds up into a pretty good match.
7. The Undertaker v. HBK - No Comment. I don't see much appeal in Undertaker beating the shit out of Shawn for 20 minutes and selling absolutely nothing.

Hey bitch, I'm trying to avoid spoiler. DIZZAM!
LOD and Bulldog/Owen start off. Pretty bland match with both a Dusty Finish and a schmozz at about 15 minutes long. Felt like a waste of my time.
And here comes the Nation of Domination. SWEET! Rapping mexican dudes on the way to the ring. Damn this is a weird stable. Savio, Crush, D-lo, little mexican dudes, Clarence Mason. And no Faarooq. Weird.
Rock(y) promo. Gay bastard. Wonder if Vega v Rocky will be worth a damn. This could be fun.
Holy crap. Foley just took THAT bump that I've been seeing on clips for years. Shot with the stairs from Taker to Foley on the apron, and Foley goes headfirst into the announce table and sticks like a frickin football in mud. Weird analogy, I know. That match wasn't have bad, for Taker-Mankind.
Wow, post-match, another moment I never knew about. Mankind is supposed to hit Paul Bearer on accident with a fireball, it doesn't work, TWICE, and they look retarded. So Taker just grabs it, and burn Paul himself. Thats kind of maniacal for Taker back then.

Spoilers for shows that happend 8 years ago?
In that case, no one better tell me what happend at Survivor Series '98! I haven't watched it yet.

I have Survivor Series 98 on tape. People need proof that Real Man's Man Steve Regal wasn't a figment of their imagination. Although my cousin is under the impression he and William Regal are twins. I haven't the heart to tell him the truth

Steve and William Regal aren't twins?!? YOU LYING BASTARD!!!

I was trying to figure out the reasoning behind that. When I watched the Taker DVD, everybody got quiet after Paul Bearer got hit with the fireball. And then 'Taker kept looking at his hands as if something went wrong.
