QUOTE
He traveled the globe for the better part of two decades, winning the coveted WWE Championship as well as millions of fans. Born into wrestling royalty and fulfilling his destiny with the straight-laced attitude and finely tuned technical ability. Fans identified with his no-nonsense style and many of his peers call him one of the technical wrestlers of all time. A worldwide Superstar, he achieved the ultimate goal in sports-entertainment and suffered unimaginable personal tragedies. The is the Bret Hart story.

Hear from Bret Hart himself as he takes you through his early years with Stampede Wrestling, the Hart Foundation, his reign as WWE Champion, internal family feuds, Survivor Series 1997, WCW, the death of his brother, Owen Hart, and much more.

Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs (Madison Square Garden, 13/07/85)

Hart Foundation vs. Killer Bees (Madison Square Garden, 17/02/86)

Bret Hart vs. Ricky Streamboat (Boston Garden, 08/03/86)

Bret Hart vs. Ted DiBiase (Odessa, TX, 08/03/89)

Hart Foundation vs. Rockers (Saturday Night's Main Event, 28/04/90)

WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Hart Foundation vs. Nasty Boys (Wrestlemania VII, 24/03/91)

WWE Intercontinental Match
Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect (SummerSlam, 26/08/91)

Bret Hart vs. Bam Bam Bigelow (Barcelona, Spain, 24/04/93)

King of the Ring Semi-Final Match
Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect (King of the Ring, 13/06/93)

Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart (Wrestlemania X, 20/03/94)

WWE Championship Match
Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart (White Plains, NY, 29/09/94)

Bret Hart vs Hakushi (In Your House, 14/05/95)

WWE Championship Match
Bret Hart vs. Diesel (Survivor Series, 19/11/95)

WWE Championship Match
Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog (In Your House, 17/12/95)

Submission Match
Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin (Wrestlemania 13, 23/03/97)

WWE Championship Match
Bret Hart vs. Undertaker (One Night Only, 20/09/97)

Owen Hart Tribute Match
Bret Hart vs. Chris Benoit (WCW Nitro, 04/10/99)

I think most of these have clean endings. Which is probably why stuff like the Hart/Diesel cage match was omitted (didn't Taker pop up from below the mat and attack Diesel).

Also interesting to note that both tag title wins were excluded. The 1990 win over Demolition is widely available, but I would have liked to see the elusive win over the Bulldogs. Of course, since this is ME, I'd like the Goldberg/Hart win over Creative Control

Not a Bret fan, but I'll buy it.

Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs (Madison Square Garden, 13/07/85)

Hart Foundation vs. Killer Bees (Madison Square Garden, 17/02/86)

Bret Hart vs. Ricky Streamboat (Boston Garden, 08/03/86)

Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect (SummerSlam, 26/08/91)

Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect (King of the Ring, 13/06/93)

Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart (Wrestlemania X, 20/03/94)

Bret Hart vs. Ted DiBiase (Odessa, TX, 08/03/89)

These matches are plenty to make it worth my money.

A couple of things of note here...............

1)WMD, your NOT a Bret fan? WTF?

2)Even though I have pretty much all of these matches, I'll still pick it up...............and I saw the Bret/Taker match from One Night Only the other night for the first time...........WOW.....great match.

3)Also it should be mentioned that there is a Bret/Steamboat match on there...............so I would probably buy the DVD even if it was the only fucking match on there.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - October 11, 2005 08:56 PM (GMT)
I'll probably have to consider picking that up.

eStragand - October 11, 2005 09:26 PM (GMT)
Has anybody found information on the extras? I wouldn't be surprised if something like the Goldberg/metal plate/"I quit" interview is included

prof_plague - October 11, 2005 09:40 PM (GMT)
I hope this is of any help.

I should have caught this earlier...but NO Bad News Brown??! All you beer-bellied sharecroppers know that someone must be performing "Favors" to keep Bad News off of this DVD.

Scrooge McSuck - October 11, 2005 11:37 PM (GMT)
I have almost every match on this DVD, but I'm interested in the documentary. That's what happens when you collect as many WWF tapes as possible. :P

The selection of matches though is great. The only one I think doesn't fit is Hart/Bigelow. It's too paint-by-the-numbers compared to everything else. It's also available on the Global Warfare coliseum video, which I gave good ratings tyo every match, good or bad. I must've been drunk or something.

jamiegeist - October 12, 2005 12:33 AM (GMT)
I miss quite a few Bret matches on here.

Hart/Flair - First Title Win. It isn't magnificent, but its historic.
Hart Foundation/Demolition - 2/3 Falls, SummerSlam (I believe). Not sure why I love this match so much, but I do. Great ending with the slingshot/schoolboy.
Canadian Stampede 10 man tag. This showed exactly how and why Bret's heel turn worked. Great match too. You don't get to say that......EVER when LOD and Goldust are involved.
Bret/Owen Ironman. Have never seen it, I think its on fancam, which would obviously show why it isnt on this.
Hart Foundation/Rockers, "Title change". The broken rope title change, which "never happened" sure would've been awesome to see.

Scrooge McSuck - October 12, 2005 12:42 AM (GMT)
The last one (Rockers/Foundation) wouldn't make sense on this DVD. From all reports, it was a piss poor match because they did about 15 minutes of resting to try and stall for time. Bret has had countless great matches, and sticking something like that on it (especially if Bret had control of what is used) just wouldn't fit in well.

Besides, it would've been better suited for an HBK DVD since it was Shawn's "first" title reign. They (The Rockers) defended the titles a few times against Power & Glory, so it could count in some peoples eyes as a title run.

jamiegeist - October 12, 2005 02:20 AM (GMT)
I wasn't clammoring for its proper placement on this set, I just want to see the damn match sometime in this life. For historical perspective rather than match caliber.

eStragand - October 12, 2005 05:39 PM (GMT)
Hmm..I know there's some rascal around the internet who is OBSESSED with that Rockers/Hart match....

prof_plague - October 12, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
I'm surprised that the 10 man matches isn't on there.

Wait...and no WM XII? Nor Hart/Bulldog for the IC title? I know he put them over in those matches, but those are still a couple of his greatest matches.

I think I know who you mean... ;)

And who the hell would want the Ironman Match? Especially since it was already released on HBK's DVD 2 years ago? And the fact it eats up over an hour of room on the DVD, which could go to more enjoyable matches.

I still don't know how Bret can love it so much. I swear he was half-assing the first half of it.

Yeah, as you can tell, I forgot about the Michaels "From the Vault" DVD. Hart probably wanted some say over about not wanting it on his DVD anyhow. From what I've heard, hart was supposed to win that match, anyhow.

Scrooge McSuck - October 13, 2005 12:21 AM (GMT)
No, he was supposed to lose something like 3 falls to 2 in OT, but someone (probably Michaels) was too selfish at jobbing the first fall.
