Title: CMLL Replay 10-9-05

Mad Dog - October 9, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
Same deal as last week. Rudos are listed first and a © means a team captain. The DVR messed up so 17 minutes are missing from the show which cut me off from the end of the opener and made me completely miss all but the end of another match.

Arkangel ©, Veneno (0-1) and Sangre Azteca vs. Alan Stone © (1-0), Chris Stone and Maximo

First Fall: Maximo wears a pink toga and is doing a gay gimmick. He actually has potential to replace Super Porky as my favorite awful wrestler. Basic stuff until the Stones pin the non-captains to take the first fall. Tecnicos lead 1-0.

Second Fall: Maximo further entertains me with how terrible he is. Usual lucha start with everyone hitting moves on everyone. Alan Stone and Maximo take turns getting triple teamed. Azteca submits Alan Stone and things are tied 1-1.

Third Fall: Maximo gets triple teamed to start things off. The tecnicos rebound and Maximo pins Veneno with a school boy. This is where I got cut off but according to the Observer recap Maximo got pinned by Arkangel before Stone got a pinfall on Azteca to give the tecnicos the win. *1/2, really basic match and nothing good or bad really. Totally forgettable.

WINNERS: Alan Stone, Chris Stone and Maximo

Atlantis, Santico and Black Warrior beat Black Tiger, Ryusuke Taguchi and Shigeo Okumura but I missed all but the very end.

Ultimo Guerrero © (1-0), Mephisto and Averno vs. Dos Caras Jr. © (0-1), Heavy Metal (1-0) and Ultimo Dragon (0-1)

First Fall: Very U.S. like start as guys take turns working the leg and throw in some arm drags. Dos Caras and Mephisto get into a shoving match before Dragon and Guerrero come in. Dragon misses a spin kick but rebounds with a variation of Sliced Bread #2 for the pinfall. Tecnicos 1-0.

Second Fall: Dos Caras completely outclasses Mephisto to start. Averno tries to help but gets a powerslam and enziguri for his troubles. Same deal with Heavy Metal except that Averno takes a handspring elbow and flying armdrag. Dragon and Guerrero come in and Guerrero goes for the mask. He tears it about halfway off before the rudos hit Dragon with a triple big boot. Heavy Metal gets triple powerbombed twice and pinned. Double flying headbutts finish Dos Caras and its tied 1-1.

Third Fall: Rudos start off triple teaming Dragon. Dragon hits a double handspring elbow and it sparks a tecnico comeback. Dragon tries to unmask Guerrero. Brawling on the outside as Dragon sends Guerrero to the outside and hits an asai moonsault. Back into the ring as Heavy Metal rolls Mephisto up for a pin and Dos Caras hits a german suplex on Averno for the 2-1 win. ***, solid and high energy match. Do Caras Jr. has grown on me a lot the last two weeks.

WINNERS: Dos Caras Jr., Heavy Metal and Ultimo Dragon

Hijo Del Perro Aguayo © (0-1), Tarzan Boy (1-0) and Hector Garza (0-1) vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. ©, L.A. Park and Mistico (1-0)

First Fall: Things quickly turn into a brawl on the outside. Mistico gets triple teamed for a long time. He fights back and hits Aguayo with a dive. Dr. Wagner and L.A. Park clean house on the rudos. L.A. Park hits a nice corkscrew splash to the outside. Back and forth in the ring until the rudos clean house. They grab Mistico and unmask him for the DQ.

Second Fall: It's a 2 on 3 to start while Mistico runs to the back to get a new mask. The rudos toss L.A. Park and try to unmask Dr. Wagner. They tire of that and go back to their beatdown. Mistico makes it back out but the rudos keep the advantage. The tecnicos fight back as Dr. Wagner and Mistico get the better of Aguayo. Dr. Wagner and L.A. Park Hulk up and hit frog splashes on Averno and Mephisto but Aguayo makes the save. Dives to the outside leave Mistico and Aguayo alone in the ring. Mistico gets a bunch of nearfalls but Aguayo kicks him in the gonads for the DQ. ****, this match WAS AWESOME. They broke out of a lot of the silly lucha madness and put on a nice intense match. The DQs didn't hurt the match at all either.

WINNERS: Dr. Wagner Jr., L.A. Park and Mistico

Mistico challenges Perro Aguayo to a mask vs. hair match.

Final Thoughts:

Another couple of shows and I might declare CMLL to be the best thing on tv right now. I might've missed a match on this one and from what I've heard it was a solid match. A great outing this week and well worth the time I put into watching. Next week is a 3 hour block so I'm hoping CMLL gets all the time.

CMLL has all of the lucha cards right now. They got most of AAA's top talent and have easily the best roster of workers in the world right now.

Geez, I wish I could get that here. That does look like an incredible show.
