Galavision has been blessing us with 2 hours of CMLL goodness for awhile now. I thought I'd do a review for you guys. I might do this weekly if they keep up with CMLL.
Team captains will be marked with a ©. Rudo teams will be listed first.
Nitro ©, Hooligan and Veneno vs. Ricky Marvin ©, Safari and Alan Stone
First Fall: Usual start to a lucha match with guys exchanging moves and leading to some dives to the outside. Nitro hits Marvin with a DVD and gets the pin to put the Rudos up 1-0.
Second Fall: We get a quick highlight of Marvin pinning Nitro with a cradle. Tied 1-1.
Third Fall: Rudos control a big portion of the fall by triple teaming the tecnicos. The tecnicos manage to regroup and make Nitro tape to a double submission. **1/2, fun opener to this week's show.
WINNERS: Ricky Marvin, Safari and Alan Stone
Ultimo Guerrero ©, Rey Bucanero and Tarzan Boy vs. Atlantis ©, Ultimo Dragon and Dos Caras Jr.
First Fall: Tarzan Boy starts off working the arm of Dos Caras. Dos Caras escapes with an arm drag and a takedown. Lots of basic stuff until the rudos clear the ring and start triple teaming. Do Caras gets triple powerbombed off the top and the rudos make him and Atlantis tap. Rudos lead 1-0.
Second Fall: Bucanero starts us off with a running splash onto Atlantis. Dos Caras is nowhere to be seen so it's triple team Ultimo Dragon time. Ultimo Guerrero tries to unmask Dragon with no luck. The tecnicos make a comeback but Ultimo Guerrero unmasks Ultimo Dragon for the DQ. Tied 1-1
Third Fall: Lots of fun on the outside. Bucanero chickens out against Dos Caras and has Tarzan Boy face him. Caras has an enziguri for everyone and then hits a dive on Bucanero. Atlantis tries to submit Tarzan Boy but Ultimo Guerrero pins Ultimo Dragon with his feet on the ropes to get the pin. Atlantis tries to argue with the refs but it does him no good. **, slow match but it wasn't bad or anything.
WINNERS: Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero and Tarzan Boy
Hijo Del Perro Aguayo ©, Damian 666 and Hector Garza vs. Universo 2000 ©, Mistico and Negro Casas
First Fall: Tecnicos get beatdown to start. The tecnicos fight back as Universo takes on Aguayo and Negro Casas takes on Damian. Mistico hits Garza with a missile dropkick and follows it up with a bulldog. Mistico rolls Garza up for a pinfall with the help of the ropes while Negro Casas submits Damian with a crossface. Tecnicos lead 1-0. Some between falls brawling on the outside. Mistico goes for a moonsault off the set and almost kills himself.
Second Fall: Negro Casas beats on the rudos and tags Mistico in. Antics on the outside as usual leads to Aguayo kicking Universo in the nuts and rolling him up. It takes forever for a ref to get into the ring and count the three. Tied 1-1.
Third Fall: Mistico gets tripled teamed to start. With the help of his speed he fights them off and hits Garza with a dive. First pinfalls occur when Garza powerbombs Negro Casas and Mistico rolls up Damian. Garza no sells some chops from Mistico and they had to the outside for the usual stuff. Heavy Metal distracts Aguayo so Universo can roll him up for the win. ***, very fun match. The brawling was pretty wild at times and the kept Universo 2000's involvement to a minimum which is always a positive.
WINNERS: Universo 2000, Mistico and Negro Casas
Halloween vs. Heavy Metal
First Fall: Since this is a singles match I'll be going to play by play. Halloween trips Heavy Metal up during his entrance and beats him down. Halloween pounds him with clotheslines in the corner and hits a bulldog. Halloween hits a leg drop and covers for two. Halloween hits a sit out powerbomb followed by a leg drop to the mid section. Halloween hits a drop kick and covers for two. Heavy Metal fights back and goes for a hand spring elbow but Halloween hits a spear and gets the pin. Halloween leads 1-0
Second Fall: Not shown for whatever reason. Heavy Metal did win it so we're tied at 1-1
Third Fall: Heavy Metal hits a moonsault off the top rope to the floor. Halloween appears to be hurt so a doctor checks him out while he walks it off. Halloween gets hit with a dropkick as he enters the ring. Heavy Metal hits another dropkick followed by a belly to belly suplex for two. Heavy Metal comes off the middle rope but gets met with a dropkick. Halloween covers for two. Halloween charges into an elbow and then a boot. Halloween hits a powerslam for two. Halloween heads to the top but Heavy Metal hits a superplex for two. Halloween gets a takedown and applies a half crab. They exchange chops until Heavy Metal gets a takedown and tries to submit him. Halloween hits an F-5 then misses a charge. Heavy Metal hits a gorilla press slam and rolls him up for the win. **1/2, ok match for the most part.
WINNER: Heavy Metal
Damian 666 and Hector Garza hit the ring. They beatdown Heavy Metal until Negro Casa fails to make the save. Beatdown continues until Universo 2000 makes the save. Perro Aguayo wanders out and challenges are made over hair.
Final Thoughts:
Great show this week as they kept the younger talent and middle aged guys that can still go on the show. Things really fall apart when the old timers show up. Every match had high energy and hey you rarely get a singles match on a lucha show.
Sounds like a good way to waste a couple of hours. Too bad here we get nothing in terms of good wrestling that isn't called WWE or TNA. :(
C'mon... what about the ring girls?!
I thought the ring girls were the unspoken part of doing these reviews.
