Have I been missing anything of note on Smackdown for the last month-ish? Since the move to fridays, it seems like I never remember to watch and/or tape it, and without Velocity, I can't watch a recap of the big angles anymore.

The first three weeks of Friday Smackdowns were all REALLY good shows overall. Believe it or not.

Scrooge McSuck - October 2, 2005 07:40 PM (GMT)
God dammit, whenever I quit watching Smackdown, this happens. First September-November 2002, and now this.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - October 3, 2005 05:31 AM (GMT)
Smackdown owns j00.

Scrooge McSuck - October 8, 2005 01:58 AM (GMT)
I forgot again! DAMMIT! I wanted to see Piper/Bob Orton. GRRR!!! (smashes stuff)

You are lucky. The show was borderline unwatchable this week.

Big F'N Swigg - October 9, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
I thought Simon Dean was hilarious during the Bobby Lashley match and I enjoyed the surprise from Eddie in the Main Event.

I even liked a bit of the stuff with the Undertaker, if only because I enjoy taped promos

Mad Dog - October 15, 2005 12:47 AM (GMT)
So yeah.......... the Raw preview makes it look like it's going to really McMahon heavy again. Sigh......

Mad Dog - October 15, 2005 12:49 AM (GMT)
Just to add:

I think what makes Smackdown watchable right now is the fact that no one in the WWF gives a shit about the show.

Mad Dog - October 15, 2005 01:35 AM (GMT)
................

that segment with the Boogey Man left me dumbfounded. They really pay people to think up this shit?

jamiegeist - October 15, 2005 02:09 AM (GMT)
I thought the Boogeyman thing was cool. They intro'd it really well with that Exec guy (I dont watch much Smackdown) talking about the failed TV show they were gonna debut, and how they had the guy still under contract for the network. Thats a cool idea. And his promo was pretty cool actually.

Mad Dog - October 15, 2005 02:17 AM (GMT)
Him breaking that giant clock over his head was kind of funny. I still think it's stupid and his little song is a total ripoff of the Freddy song.

jamiegeist - October 15, 2005 02:23 AM (GMT)
Isn't the Freddy song a total ripoff of an actual freaky nursery rhyme or something? I didn't think it originated in Nightmare on Elm Street.

Oh, and I don't get Mr. Kennedy...............KENNEDY. So if anyone wants to help me with that one....great.

And who the fuck were the midgets who attacked the Mexicans and stole AMW's finisher.

Mad Dog - October 15, 2005 02:27 AM (GMT)
The guys that attacked the Mexicools are the Tolands. They're pretty funny when given the chance.

I also didn't get Kennedy repeating his name.

Bobby Lashley. He'll be back in OVW or fired by the end of the year. He's really green.

Ditto. I've been wanting to watch it, but I always forget to now that it's on Fridays.

Well, they weren't actually aired on Friday because of the Sox games, instead they were aired on Saturday. ...Yeah, much better. Thanks UPN.

prof_plague - October 15, 2005 03:39 AM (GMT)
I forgot Boogeyman was debuting tonight. ...I was curious to see if those pictures online were the real deal about the Boogeyman.

And there was another Dean/Lashley segment? I even read the spoilers and forgot about that.

I like the Kennedy. At least he just repeats his name and doesn't stutter like Morgan did.

jamiegeist - October 15, 2005 03:53 AM (GMT)
By the way, I wanted to mention...this angle with Booker T sneaking out wins with Sharmell's help and without his knowledge is getting kind of cool. She is totally seeming like a gold digger, just wants some titles, and doesn't care much about Booker. This is developing into a cool angle. I'm anxious to see what happens in the match next week with Benoit.

And this means ALOT, cause I really can't stand anything to do with Booker T normally.

Big F'N Swigg - October 15, 2005 03:44 PM (GMT)
Dude, the Tolands cracked me up. They're overgrown midgets.

Scrooge McSuck - October 15, 2005 03:48 PM (GMT)
Oh great, I forgot again, and I really wanted to see The Boogeyman. :(

How sad is it that the segment I anticipated most was the debut of a sure-thing WrestleCrap gimmick?

I missed that too. I don't know if that's such a bad thing, though

Mad Dog - October 15, 2005 04:24 PM (GMT)
He was singing a similar thing to the Freddy theme. Broke an oversized clock on his head and screamed about some other stuff. I don't really remember because I was trying to figure out why he was holding a giant clock and what he had in his hand.

He's about to show us and the entire WWE what time it is?

jamiegeist - October 15, 2005 05:51 PM (GMT)
It was actually a really good promo, and he has some nice intensity without just yelling. He was a bit creepy. It could get fun if he start making people vomit lime green and bleeding black ooze from their heads.

Scrooge McSuck - October 15, 2005 06:05 PM (GMT)
It's been 12 years since we saw Papa Shango, so I'll allow the gimmick rehashing. :P

Vader lead to lead the Invasion! Details at 11...

S.T. Strickler - October 15, 2005 08:45 PM (GMT)
Is it just me, or do the Tolands look like a pair of undersized chippendale dancers?

eStragand - October 18, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
The only segments I saw were Kennedy and the Boogeyman. My luck fucking RULES this week. When I heard it was "the Boogeyman", I expected Jimmy Valiant to show up. I'm guessing that the character loses his novelty factor in 4 months and becomes a disco dancing "Boogeyman" of another sort.

Oh yeah...I call DIBS on Boogeyman for our NWA game!

Scrooge McSuck - October 19, 2005 07:44 PM (GMT)
Jimmy Valiant for the last 25 years kinda looks like The Huckster, except younger. "Wha'cha gonna do when the Huckster runs out on you?!"

Scrooge McSuck - October 22, 2005 12:11 AM (GMT)
As I enjoy a "Needs more Warrior" sign, Benoit nearly kills himself by smacking against the announcers table during a suicide dive. Ouch... really, that's the first time in years where I thought that was gruesome, and not in a "WOO! That ruled" way.

Scrooge McSuck - October 22, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
When did Darth Maul become a pro wrestler?

jamiegeist - October 22, 2005 03:11 AM (GMT)
Benoit's bump was fuckin KILLER, this Booker T angle is awesome and heating up even more. I still don't understand Mr. Kennedy...................Kennedy. Um, the hardcore match was a weird thing, but it was okay I guess. Sylvan and Conway seem to have the same gimmick, which is lame.

I love the Boogeyman. Seriously, that promo ruled too. I love when he looks at the camera and says I''''''m the BOOGEYman. That rules.

My wife made two great observations that I always love to share. She has that weird mark left in her, but is such a critic as well.

During Benoit/Booker T: "Jesus, we get it. You're chopping each other. Now move on to something else. This is getting boring"

Jillian Hall coming to the ring with JBL: "I dont get it. Why does she have that thing? And if she was really an image consultant, wouldn't she have had laser surgery by now?"

After the main event, during the announcement of next week's 6 man: "Why would those 3 be the least bit scared of Roddy Piper when Batista's huge ass is standing in the ring. And who wants to see Piper anyway. He's old"

My wife rules.

Scrooge McSuck - October 22, 2005 03:27 AM (GMT)
I like Piper, but the chops thing needs to go. It's a lazy way to transition between spots. Even bigger guilty dicks of this are God Boy and that other guy no one remembers.

The Booker angle sucks. Someone should just show him a tape of Smackdown... oh wait, VCR's, VHS', and instant replay doesn't exist when it comes into play with a storyline.

eStragand - October 22, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
Second week in a row that I had good luck. Only segments that I saw were the Rey/JBL match (which kinda' blew)...and then the Juniors/Boogeyman segment (which ruled). There was also some stupid recap segment in between, about Stone Cold and the McMahons. I dunno, but the whole Austin/McMahon comes off like Dennis the Menace vs. Mr. Wilson. Next time, Austin will drop a bucket of water on a McMahon! Or Vince will fall in a mud pit! Hilarity ensues!

But yeah...I thought it was kinda' stupid how the "juniors" all came in and started bouncing around...cuz' that's what midgets do. Bounce on couches. Liked how the Big Guy in the Suit said "okay, go back to having fun"...and they all resumed bouncing on the couch. Plus, the Boggey-F'n-Man was there. Immediately after, I turned off the tube and went to the grocery store, my day fulfilled.

Mad Dog - October 22, 2005 05:45 AM (GMT)
I demand that midget from CMLL that wears the gorilla mask be brought in.

I might do a Smackdown Replay this weekend as well.

eStragand - October 22, 2005 05:51 AM (GMT)
^5, Mad Dog!

The little feller that does flying planchas off of the apron? Used to be Shocker's mascot?! Yeah, he rules.

Ha! Midget love! Take that, Choate...err, I mean Devastatin' Dave the Turntable Slave!!

Good save. I stick by my statement, tho. I'll be amazed if they pull it off for long.

Mad Dog - October 22, 2005 06:36 AM (GMT)
Benoit/Booker totally took me out of doing a replay. It's a sad day when the highlight of Smackdown was Super Porky eating a ham.

Scrooge McSuck - October 22, 2005 02:33 PM (GMT)
Booker T has been handed the title of "Wrestlings Biggest Idiot" now that Sting appears to be retired for good.

Mad Dog - October 22, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
This thing with Sharmell really makes him look stupid.

I also demand the WWF brings in the CMLL announcers for Super Porky matches so I can hear the one scream "SUPER POOOOOOOORKY!!!!"

Scrooge McSuck - October 29, 2005 12:08 AM (GMT)
Please TNA, never give Matt Hardy a live microphone again. His hillbilly voice makes Hardcore Holly sound normal.

Edit: What a goof up there. I mean WWE, not TNA.

JBL making fun of Matt Hardy crying about his girlfriend is kinda funny. "Somebody call the Waaaaahbulance."
