THEY'RE COMING!! - FORMER "DUDLEY BOYS" SIGN WITH TNA WRESTLING

To make debut on upcoming episode of "iMPACT!" on SpikeTV

Nashville, TN (September 22, 2005)--TNAwrestling.com has learned that the tag team, formerly known as "The Dudley Boys," have signed a multi-year contract with TNA Wrestling.

One of the most successful tandems in wrestling history, the tag team is expected to make their debut on an upcoming episode of "iMPACT!" on SpikeTV.

"We see TNA as the future of wrestling," Devon told TNAwrestling.com. "They have a lot of amazing talent that are ready to step up and revolutionize this business. We thought we had done it all in tag team wrestling until we saw TNA Wrestling. Now, we begin a new chapter in our careers. The NWA World Tag Team Titles are one prize we haven't held yet, so we're both really excited about joining TNA."

Stay turned to TNAwrestling.com for more information on the signing of the former Dudley Boys.

At least they have another team for the tag division. Not a bad signing at all, as long as they didn't pay them tons...

I'd say that a pretty damn important singing. You aren't talking about Nash/DDP/Gunn/BG James or anyone like that who hasn't been on tv in a few years in a prominent role. You're talking about probably the most recognizable tag team of the last 5 years, and you don't even need their names when you stick them on the screen.

Call them what you want, but I still think they are stale.

Good for TNA though for actually signing people with name recognition who isn't 50 years old. I'm sure most people still like them, but 5 years of them in WWF really put me off a bit.

This is DEFINATELY a smart move for TNA.

A change of surroundings will probably fix that issue for them.

Little challenge... Would you care to dip into a bit of fantasy booking to explain how to keep them fresh?

Mad Dog - September 22, 2005 12:19 AM (GMT)
Just the fact that they're in entirely new surroundings and being in an unrestricted style will go a long way towards making them seem new and different.

Scrooge McSuck - September 22, 2005 12:21 AM (GMT)
Good point... WWE cutting everyones balls off really doesn't settle well with me.

Great signing. Turn 'em heel. Have them talk about how TNA is small time and the fans are all dumb hicks. The fact that they can't use their gimmick can play into the character. Have the Kayfabe reason be that they don't think TNA deserves to call them by their name, and their only their to earn a paycheck, while waiting for a call from the major leagues. I think the fans will be aching for them to be faces, and that's cool, 'cause it will be a built in long term story to work towards.

Another incentive to watch TNA when it comes to Spike.

My thought though: Will they be "The Dudleyz"?

...

Plague, you should no better than to ask that. [/holding back rage]

That's actually an awesome idea, and what TNA SHOULD do. What they WILL do is have them come in as faces and feud with AMW. Maybe a few more tables, but basically the same old Dudleys I bet. I really hope they go with your idea WMD.

jamiegeist - September 22, 2005 07:33 AM (GMT)
Tell you what. Dudleyz at least make me wanna tune in now that TNA will have a consistent timeslot for me to TIVO. They always moved around on Fridays/Saturdays on FSN in my market.

There have been a bunch of news reports about the WWE making sure that no form of the names "Buh Buh Ray" "Bubba Ray" or "Dudley" show up in other promotions along with signature Dudley spots including the trademarked "D-Von, get the tables!"

D-Von can keep the name (more than likely spelled Devon) because that is his real name.

Word is they've signed Roderick Strong too.

Awesome. Did they already sign Aries, too?

whitemilesdavis - September 22, 2005 03:35 PM (GMT)
I haven't heard anything on that, but one would assume that he would be coming in soon, too.

eStragand - September 22, 2005 04:13 PM (GMT)
Regardless of what they call them, I have Eric Young in my Guys Who Get Put Through a Table First Pool (GWGPTATFP)

Real F'n Show - September 22, 2005 08:51 PM (GMT)
Me and my friends only know Eric Young as "That Canadian Guy who took that sick enziguri-to-the-floor bump at Sacrifice"...

Big F'N Swigg - September 23, 2005 01:12 AM (GMT)
I would think that Panda would make the effort to get the Dudley name. Not because it's necessary, but because it would make it easier to profit from their presence.

And because it's easier on the fans

eStragand - September 23, 2005 03:52 PM (GMT)
Or..the time may be right for the Dudley Boyz to play up their similarities to the Beagle Boys! Call 'em the Beegle Boyz and put convict numbers on their shirts. It'll work for about two weeks until Disney's lawyers hear about it.
