Title: WTF? Meltzer may have lost his mind completely...
dynamite kido - September 21, 2005 02:18 PM (GMT)
Well, I figured I'd throw this out there but I'm looking for conformation on this. I've heard that Meltz gave the AJ/Daniels/Joe three way from UNBREAKABLE *****. Anyone know if this is the truth (my subscription to the observer ran out and I have yet to renew)
Mad Dog - September 21, 2005 05:27 PM (GMT)
Yeah he did. I think he believes in a looser standard on ***** matches though.
Scrooge McSuck - September 21, 2005 05:33 PM (GMT)
Can I be bias and say he gave it ***** because he verbally blows anything Samoa Joe does?
Mad Dog - September 21, 2005 05:35 PM (GMT)
No, because he's way worse with other guys.
Scrooge McSuck - September 21, 2005 05:51 PM (GMT)
Sorry, I can't trust a guy who gave about 50,000 Ric Flair matches *****. I trust Meltzer for news, not match ratings.
dynamite kido - September 21, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
Say all the shit about him that you want..........he knows his shit. I just have no clue how there is ANY way that he could give that match *****. It was a REALLY good match.........just not *****.
Scrooge McSuck - September 21, 2005 06:02 PM (GMT)
I said I trust his news. :) I just don't trust some of his ratings, that's all. Everyone has a personal bias towards at least one person that can cloud their judgment, which is what I think happend here.

Well, considering that I've been an avid Observer reader for sometime I wouldn't say that he has a bias for Daniels/Joe/AJ.

I'm an awkward internet mark, because I only mark for Joe in TNA, only mark for Daniels in ROH, and mark for AJ above all.
Anyhow, that match was pretty insane for what it was, and I think that they hit everything they were going for. I don't know about five stars, but I don't give snowflakes. It's the best spotfest/X style/ TNA match I've seen in a long time, tho.
Mad Dog - September 22, 2005 12:10 AM (GMT)
I don't agree with him that it was the best TNA match ever though. Styles/Ki/Lynn's non-ladder match was slightly better IMO.
whitemilesdavis - September 22, 2005 12:58 AM (GMT)
'Tis the problem with star ratings. Really doesn't matter to me weather he gave it 4, 5, or whatever. WHat this says to me is this is a great friggin' match that I oughta see.
SamoaRowe - September 24, 2005 04:02 PM (GMT)
Damn straight.
I just downloaded the match, and I plan on doing a review on it when I have time. In fact, I'll probably do a whole thread of reviews.
theintensifier - October 10, 2005 05:14 AM (GMT)
Wow. How ironic. I was actually going to make a thread about the said match, I'm glad I read this before I did.
This is like the 10 or so match I've seen this entire year, and it's by far the best that I have seen. I wouldn't go as far to call it 5*, but it's certainley good.
The match does have a lot of strong points though, and does have a good replay value.

HOLY SHIT! THE INTENSIFIER!!
whitemilesdavis - October 10, 2005 04:39 PM (GMT)
I thought the this place had suddenly become more intense.

Holy Balls. I just watched this match. I'm not gonna play the rate-war crap, but that was fuckin awesome. Like, the best match I've seen in a long long time. My first Samoa Joe match too, and I think I'm in love.
That had so many awesome moments and near falls, and I had no clue how it was gonna end.
