Title: Early SummerSlam Buyrate

Scrooge McSuck - September 14, 2005 06:28 AM (GMT)
According to the Pro Wrestling Torch newsletter, the early estimates reveal that WWE Summerslam did approximately 525,000 pay-per-view buys; by the time final figures are calculated, that number is expected to jump as high as 575-600,000

Is that alot?

Just need clarification for us commoners who don't follow buyrates.

Successful non-big 4 PPV's (a.k.a Backlash, Unforgiven) is around the 275-300,000 buys mark, so I'm figuring around 500,000 (give or take) is a successful number for SummerSlam. If the final tally marks in around 600,000, that's pretty good.

I don't buy "Early" buyrate reports ever since some yutz said that teh ECW one did some ungoldy buyrate, and was then proven to do below average numbers.

That bogus ECW buyrate was the only instance of this ever happening to my best knowledge, usually the initial estimate is pretty accurate.

Summerslam was well-hyped this year, with some interesting matches on the card, so I'm not too surprised. I would have been let down had the ppv tanked (Hell, even I ordered it).

SummerSlam's never do worse than 475,000 I don't think. Some yoyo said ECW did 800,000, which is more than some Wrestlemania's. Obviously some retarded loser clinging on to his piss stained ECW shirt in his mommy's basement hoping to get attention.

It must have been a good buyrate. Even I ordered SummerSlam!

Well, you split it with me and four other people, but that still says something :D
