Title: America's Most Wanted
Description: Why the hate?

TehDoct0r - September 8, 2005 04:38 PM (GMT)
I don't know if it's been on this board too much, but I've seen a wide array of AMW hate recently. I can't say I understand it. I will concede that the nicknames of "Tennesse Cowboy" and "Wildcat" are a bit mundane, but I really have consistently enjoyed them as a team. Their matches against The Naturals, Team Canada, XXX, AJ/D'Lo, and the New Church in their TNA run have been highly entertaining. I also may have been the only one who enjoyed Chris Harris's brief singles push, but I did. I can't say James Storm is extremely enthralling as a singles act, as he usually looks unmotivated. But someone, please explain to me the hate. Or is it just personal preference?

SamoaRowe - September 8, 2005 05:03 PM (GMT)
I haven't been noticing the AMW hate, but then again I haven't been paying that good of attention either.

There isn't much in wrestling that the IWC doesn't hate right now, so I'm learning to just block it out.

TehDoct0r - September 8, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
I suppose that's quite right. I saw someone the other day bitching about a AJ Styles/Bryan Danielson match.

It just suprises me because I understand the hate for guys like Jarrett, Nash, HHH, Cena, etc. This one just kinda leaves me scratching my head tho.

whitemilesdavis - September 8, 2005 05:17 PM (GMT)
I think it was more during their TNA "god-push" that people didn't think they deserved the hype. Personally, I think they're decent enough.

Mad Dog - September 8, 2005 06:29 PM (GMT)
I think it's indy elitist mostly doing the hate. Those types that hate you if you don't work for RoH or can't do 157263453245 variations of a headlock. For as much as they get bashed they sure do seem to be in a lot of solid to good tag matches.

eStragand - September 8, 2005 08:56 PM (GMT)
I'm okay with them. Although I STILL don't understand the team name/gimmick.

Truer words cannot be spoken. I've come to like what I like, not because the internet does or doesn't like it.

As for AMW, they're better than the teams the WWE keeps throwing together. At least TNA has a tag team division...

SamoaRowe - September 8, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
^^^^ For sure.

In all honesty, AMW has had some damn good matches IMHO. I'm thinking of their matches against Triple H, Swinger and Diamond, Team Canada, and the Naturals.

There are far better things in wrestling (HHH, Jarrett, Nash) to be complaining about.

Mad Dog - September 8, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
Hating on TNA is a popular IWC thing fueled heavily by the RoH mutants.

I literally still argue with people that try and use Nash, Hall and DDP as a point against TNA even though they haven't been seen in at least 4 months.

Scrooge McSuck - September 8, 2005 10:42 PM (GMT)
They should be renamed Americas Most Overrated Team.

1. They are shitty wrestlers. It's been 3 years since I've first seen them, and they haven't improved much. They can only hit their big spot moves and transition everything with punchy-kicky. It's like a bad RVD match.

2. They both suck even more as a tag team. These two guys couldn't work a hot tag properly to save either of their lives.

3. The God-Push TNA has given them. I'd rather see WWE resign Jamal and push Three Minute Warning than hear Don West squeal like a girl about how they're the greatest team in wrestling. (vomits)

Ok, name me 5 teams better than they are.

Scrooge McSuck - September 8, 2005 10:48 PM (GMT)
Presently? Unfair question... WWE has a grand total of 5 teams, but the good ones are MNM, Psicosis/Crazy, and to an extent, Hurricane/Rosey (yeah, I'm stretching). TNA only has 3 teams... AMW, The Naturals and Team Canada to choose from.

Big F'N Swigg - September 8, 2005 10:51 PM (GMT)
I personally can't stand them. I think part of it is the "god-push" they've gotten, but I know that part of it is that their matches don't flow right. Their matches start one direction, and then move in a complete different direction when the other wrestler tags in. It's like they're each trying to wrestle singles matches instead of a tag match.

I don't know if that made sense, but I must also add that I haven't seen the "legendary" AMW-XXX feud. I must add though, that I didn't like XXX either, so that may make me like AMW less.

I am a Naturals mark, though.

Scrooge McSuck - September 8, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
Triple X/xXx/XXX weren't too bad. If it was Low Ki/Daniels, it was going to be a good match, and Skipper was no slug when teaming with Daniels. However, the Ki/Skipper combo never really clicked to me.

I forgot that TNA actually has more teams... Sonny Siaki & Apolo and 3 LK. This is starting to make AMW look good, since only the Naturals I would rank better. :(

Big F'N Swigg - September 8, 2005 11:01 PM (GMT)
In my opinion, TNA's tag team division hasn't been that great. They've had the talent, but their matches never seemed to "click." I personally have felt that it's a lack of storytelling in the matches, especially with AMW. I think Scrooge's comment about the punch-kick then big move wrestling style is very true at times as well

TehDoct0r - September 8, 2005 11:16 PM (GMT)
I think the punch kick thing has some validity as well, but the hot tag thing I have to disagree with. I think their fault, if they have one, is staying too formulatic. I dunno, I dig em anyway.

Big F'N Swigg - September 8, 2005 11:19 PM (GMT)
That's cool. I've just never taken a shine to them myself. It would only take a match or two to change my mind, though

Real F'n Show - September 9, 2005 02:18 AM (GMT)
I remember back in 2003 Jeremy Borash was talking about how AMW were better than Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas in one of his columns. Yet another reason why Borash is a tool.

I agree with Scrooge's comments on the punchy-kicky, and I also agree with TehDoct0r's comments on how they are good with the hot tag. Still no WGTT.

TehDoct0r - September 9, 2005 04:45 AM (GMT)
Definetly not even close to Benjamin and Haas. They have a more consistent finisher tho ;)

D.A.V.E. - September 9, 2005 11:55 AM (GMT)
A lot of the hate comes from their near bulletproof booking (they're odds on to regain the belts this Sunday) and the fact they're tight with guys in the back (Bob Ryder), and have shot down any attempt to split them up, or turn them heel.

dynamite kido - September 9, 2005 01:22 PM (GMT)
They are simply a Southern style face tag team..............and they are actually a really good one too.

D.A.V.E. - September 9, 2005 01:40 PM (GMT)
I think they'd be better as heels. Harris (I think - I still have difficulty telling them apart) has great potential to be a cocky jerk character

Well..........they have the face style of working down. I say if it ain't broke..........

Mad Dog - September 9, 2005 01:48 PM (GMT)
I think breaking them up is a bad idea. They need a U.S. Title for Chris Harris as a singles and James Storm is pretty useless on his own.

TehDoct0r - September 9, 2005 02:04 PM (GMT)
Yea, they have teased the breakup a couple times, but they never go through with it for whatever reason. I think it might have to do with the fact that the fans sour on it more than Bob Ryder.

Scrooge McSuck - September 9, 2005 03:50 PM (GMT)
Maybe the fans wouldn't care? I remember the first one a couple of years ago, and it wasn't really an "over" idea, and neither was the one where Harris somehow got a main event push for 2 months. I don't know how fans reacted to the Daniels/Storm and Skipper/Harris tag teams though, since I didn't get Impact then.

Or was it Daniels/Harris and Storm/Skipper?

TehDoct0r - September 9, 2005 04:50 PM (GMT)
I agree completely. The fans really didn't react much to the dissension at all. But as faces, they still seem over live.

Real F'n Show - September 9, 2005 06:29 PM (GMT)
It's good that TNA has tried these things out for a smaller market to see how the crowd reacts instead of doing it for a bigger audience when they get to Spike...
