Title: OAO Raw Thread: September

Scrooge McSuck - September 6, 2005 01:59 AM (GMT)
Snitsky has become the new Kane.
"Tonight, you will face... SNITSKY!" :(
jamiegeist - September 6, 2005 07:14 AM (GMT)
And it is alot more painful than the ....KANE thing because Snitsky is a fuckin lug. I wasn't as offended by RAW tonight as the rest of the IWC appears to be. I tend to enjoy wrestling though, so whatever. I'm not real fond of the current direction or feuds, but I don't care that much, and things are still fun for the most part.
Did anyone else notice that sign that said something like "Cena 316 says I've already seen this B4". Thats a good fuckin sign.
Scrooge McSuck - September 6, 2005 03:11 PM (GMT)
Whoever came up with that sign deserves props, because it's the same fucking thing, except a second-rate hack is filling in every role.
Instead of Steve Austin, we have suburb's gangsta' John Cena, and instead of evil Mr. McMahon who screwed over his #1 guy, we have that WCW dude who gave away results on the air and went with the same angle for 3 years by pushing old farts over the young guys.
eStragand - September 6, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)
I just saw the last half hour of the "big" Labor Day show, but:
-Those loose leg warmers do nothing for Torrie..but she hasn't been really hot since she was Miss nWo Spring Break 1999.
-I liked the cowboy team. Although the guy with long pants didn't seem to be too into the gimmick. He could be inserted into any team and he'd have the same mannerisms.
-Full Nelson Challenge is YOUR main event?! Somewhere the Warlord, Billy Jack Haynes, Hercules, Ken Patera, the Ghost of Davey Boy Smith and roughly 87 others just spit out their beverages and said "damn! And we were stuck in the midcard with this shit!!"
Scrooge McSuck - September 6, 2005 04:21 PM (GMT)
Lance "Garrison" Cade has no personality, which has been proven by his tag run with Mark Jindrak in 2003 and his brief stint as Coach's "boy" in the Spring of 2004.
Mad Dog - September 6, 2005 06:08 PM (GMT)
How fucking sad is it when Chris Masters and Tyson Tomko are getting main event level pushes?
October can't get here fast enough.
Scrooge McSuck - September 6, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)
I bet now you're begging for another Kane push instead of Tomko & Masters. :)
SamoaRowe - September 7, 2005 03:14 AM (GMT)
"Wake Me Up When September Ends" must be the theme for this month.
Anways, I've gotten into the habit of watching Raw and enjoying it and then going online and reading about how everyone else thought it was the "worst Raw ever" and "complete shit."
What I didn't like about Raw this week was the Ashley match, the random Tomko push, and... um... I was pretty much entertained by the rest of it. I like to think I'm a wrestling fan first and a smark second.
The masterlock segment was done well, IMO. Chris Masters might be a boring piece of shit wrestler, but he was effective last night.
The Viscera/Val Venis tag team is A-okay in my book, considering I've been hoping for another Venis push for a long time and it can only help the tag team division at this point. The Hurricane/Rosey vs Cowboys match was good in my book too, though it's frustrating that the WWE did not even try to make Hurricane/Rosey good champions these past 4 1/2 months.
I have absolutely no objection with Carlito/Flair and I don't understand the hate it's getting from the rest of the IWC.
Scrooge McSuck - September 7, 2005 03:31 PM (GMT)
The show sucked balls.
Viscera/Venis vs. Heart Throbs was a heatless piece of crap that should've been featured on Heat, where they all spend 95% of their careers.
Ashley/Torrie is the new replacement for Jackie/Trish for "Ew" Match of the Century.
Superheros/Super Cowboys was a fucking mess, mainly thanks to Murdoch. The match is hardly good, unless you watched the match after poking your eyeballs out.
Tomko/Cena was horrendous. Simple as that.
The Masterlock Challenge is a waste of time and was given far too much time considering people much bigger and stronger than little girl Michaels gave up in 10 seconds to it.
Carlito/Flair is gonna suck hard. Carlito is dog shit in the ring and Flair no longer has "it" to carry shit wrestlers. He's barely able to have good matches these days with the best wrestlers.

4 words, so many truths.
whitemilesdavis - September 7, 2005 04:13 PM (GMT)
See, I'm easy to please. They actually wrestled for most of the show, so I won't complain. There was nothing great, but as long as they wrestle, I'm cool.
Scrooge McSuck - September 7, 2005 04:16 PM (GMT)
I like a lot of wrestling too, but I like good wrestling more, and nothing on Raw monday night did anything for me in terms of entertainment.
If there was at least 1 stand out match, I'd probably ignore some of the crap, but when the best match features a Buff Bagwell-wanna-be and Hole in One Chavo screwing over Benjamin because he's black, it doesn't make me go, to quote estragand, Happy.
dynamite kido - September 7, 2005 05:08 PM (GMT)
For the record, I liked Murdoch. I also like wrestling too, but I don't wanna see the jobber patrol that the WWE usually puts out there.
whitemilesdavis - September 7, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
Don't get me wrong..I'm dying for TNA's show to come on. Wrestling is good, but good wrestling is obviously better than bad wrestling.

Unless you're Scrooge. Mr. Wrestlecrap himself......

You heard him, Katie Vick.

jamiegeist - September 7, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)
Man, Ashley-Torrie was not the clusterfuck people are making it out to be. Sure, Ashley botched a sunset flip, and then they both looked lost with some kind of kicking towards each other for a bit. But it wasn't as retarded as people want it to be. You're talking about two total non-wrestlers anyway. People try so hard to make things what they want them to be.
Scrooge McSuck - September 7, 2005 07:11 PM (GMT)
Name 1 thing arguably good about the match and I'll agree with you, but there's nothing that comes to mind.
whitemilesdavis - September 7, 2005 07:14 PM (GMT)
Did you see that crotch shot of Ashley?
Scrooge McSuck - September 7, 2005 07:17 PM (GMT)
No crotch shot on earth could erase the bad from tha match. Maybe it's a little exageration comparing it to the Trish/Gayda match, but it was still pretty bad.

For as much wrestling that match lacked there was quite the dandy crotch shot.
jamiegeist - September 7, 2005 07:38 PM (GMT)
I do agree with that. And from a wrestling standpoint, Ashley had a nice spear takedown if I recall. And she took a nice bump on the hangman on the ring apron. If by nice you mean "face first with a bloody nose". Her bump on the facebuster was good also.
So theres a few things about the match.
Scrooge McSuck - September 7, 2005 07:42 PM (GMT)
Bumping really isn't too hard unless you either really suck or are just flat out too old to do anything properly, but that seems like valid positive note in the match.
SamoaRowe - September 7, 2005 07:46 PM (GMT)
I fast-forwarded through the match, so it didn't offend me that much.
I can state one good thing about the match, it's more than likely building to the return of Trish Stratus, where she returns and saves Ashely from the three bitches. This will not only bring back the women's title, but will have a ready challenger (Victoria) waiting for her.
jamiegeist - September 12, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
Good god almighty. ANOTHER fuckin handicap match on RAW tonight, this time with Angle and Tomko v Cena. This is getting so rediculously boring and tired. Are they even trying? Doesn ANYONE like handicap matches? Does anyone BENEFIT from handicap matches?
I hate wrestling.
Scrooge McSuck - September 12, 2005 07:13 PM (GMT)
I missed this past weeks Smackdown, Velocity, and Heat. Looks like Raw will be the missing Grand Slam. :P
SamoaRowe - September 12, 2005 07:17 PM (GMT)
General Manager Eric Bischoff has signed a huge Handicap Match for Monday Night RAW on Sept. 12. It will be WWE Champion John Cena taking on both Kurt Angle and Tyson Tomko. Cena has overcome many odds since becoming WWE Champion, but can he really turn back both Angle and Tomko? Watch RAW to find out.
Also, it has just been learned that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair will take on Chris Masters tonight in one-on-one action. Several weeks ago on RAW, Masters forced an already beaten and battered Flair to succumb to the Master Lock. Will Masters have the same success tonight?
Also, Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch made a stunning debut upsetting the World Tag Team Champions, Rosey and The Hurricane. How will they top their first appearance on RAW?
Scrooge McSuck - September 12, 2005 07:20 PM (GMT)
Oh wow, Masters/Flair gives me confidence the show will be good.
Newsflash to WWE: Cena will never be the next Steve Austin,no matter how hard you try to make it look like 1998 again.... and I don't mean the wife beating incident. We still don't know all the facts on that case. :)
SamoaRowe - September 12, 2005 07:25 PM (GMT)
If Tajiri/Masters can be good, then Flair/Masters has a chance, and don't even say "But Flair is old" because Flair is still pretty good for a 55 year old man.
Scrooge McSuck - September 12, 2005 07:29 PM (GMT)
I disagree. He's a shell of the shell of his former 'self. Since I had it on my mind, I still don't see the love for Angle/Flair. It was a good TV match, maybe hovering above **, but some people calling it **** made me sick.
SamoaRowe - September 12, 2005 07:36 PM (GMT)
Flair/Angle was about ***1/2 in my book. I think it's a disservice to say it was only **, but a huge exaggeration to call it ****+
Don't get me wrong, Flair is no where near being the in-ring performer he was in his prime, but he is still a respectable wrestler, especially given his age.
Scrooge McSuck - September 12, 2005 07:38 PM (GMT)
Please explain how the hell it was ***1/2. It was basically Angle beating the piss out of Flair and Flair cheating like nuts.

It was about ***1/2. Angle WOULD beat the piss out of Flair at the age of 55 and Flair would HAVE to cheat to get in anything on him. It makes perfect sense.....
Scrooge McSuck - September 12, 2005 07:41 PM (GMT)
And that makes it a ***1/2 match? Before I go any further, is this on a "TV" rating scale, or just usual, because on PPV, I doubt it would be getting this much praise.

The cheating made sense storyline wise and Flair is freaking awesome when he cheats.
It was one of the most exciting tv matches of the year, IMHO, and I marked out for it. I only wish they'd given it a feud to build into the match, rather than setting it up in one night.
Scrooge McSuck - September 12, 2005 07:43 PM (GMT)
I'll just agree to disagree. You're also probably the guy who claims Michaels/Benjamin from back in May was ****+ too.

Personally, my scale for rating matches is usually based on how much enjoyment I got out of it, which partly considers the circumstances of a match. This could mean that I am more lenient towards tv matches than I would be in a pay-per-view match. However, I do believe that a ***1/2 rating would still be in hand for Flair/Angle if it had been featured on a pay-per-view. Keep in mind, that ***1/2 for a tv match is good, but may be disappionting had they saved the match for a ppv and hyped the hell out of it.
