From the ROH Boards.
Student Show/Dark Matches ------------------------------- Bobby & Derek Dempsey won a tag match. Opponents unknown right now.
Eric Matlock Def. Antonio Blanco
Main Show ------------------------------- Ricky Reyes Def. Puma with a rear naked choke.
Chad Collyer Def. Davey Andrews, Jimmy Jacobs and Kevin Steen in a 4 Corner Survival Match when he made Andrews tap out to the Texas Cloverleaf. Apparently had a few fun spots.
Homicide Def. El Generico with a lariat and an Ace Crusher. Homicide dominated most of the match, giving Generico a few hope spots, but leaving an imprint of his hand on Generico's chest.
Shingo Takagi came out, and then Daniels' music hit, but he didn't come out. Instead, out came CURRY MAN!
Curry Man Def. Shingo Takagi with the Spicy Drop. Apparently a very good match, with a few comedy spots. After the match, Takagi got the mic and talked about wanting to come back to ROH.
Nigel McGuinness Def. Samoa Joe to win the ROH Pure Title. Apparently Nigel cheated a lot, using closed fists behind the ref's back, and using a chair, which cost him a rope break. Nigel won with the Tower Of London ace crusher, but instead of shaking hands, Joe kicked him in the head and ran him off.
The Ring Crew Express (Dunn & Marcos) Def. Matt Turner & Shane Hagadorn in the post-intermission match.
Jimmy Rave & Spanky Def. Generation Next (Austin Aries & Roderick Strong). Rave countered Aries rollup, and Shelley hit Austin with a chair, allowing Rave to roll him up for the win.
CIMA Def. AJ Styles in a "Very Good" match with lots of great mat work.
James Gibson Def. Colt Cabana with the Paydirt guillotine choke. Apparently a really good match, where the crowd favored Gibson.
ROH Returns to Buffalo on 10/15 with Nigel Vs. Joe in a rematch for the Pure Title and Generation Next Vs. The Embassy in an anything goes match. |
-Wow, it's pretty fucking cool that Daniels busted out the Curry Man stuff..........

Ugh.... to Homicide facing El Generico after getting screwed out of a title shot last show. Curry Man I'm torn on. It's a fun gimmick but Daniels is more concerned with dancing than workrate when he has that mask on.
Not so high on Nigel beating Joe for the Pure Wrestling Title. They did nothing with Joe as champion.
I would've liked to see Dragon Kid on this show.
Real F'n Show - August 28, 2005 03:18 PM (GMT)
Looks like one of their best shows in awhile. May have to give this one an order after I read more reviews.

I don't mind Cide fighting Generico as he needed to run though someone and Generico is awesome at making guys look good.
Curry Man in America is friggin sweet. I'm sure it was a one time only thing since they were working with Dragon's Gate, but I will say that they should have advertised Curry Man instead of just doing it out of nowhere. I don't know how much you've seen of Curry Man in Japan MD, but he can certainly bring the workrate with it..........
I agree with you about Nigel beating Joe. They seem to really like the Joe/Nigel matchup as do most ROH fans. I like it too, I just think they aren't booking Joe right at all. Considering that Joe with be facing Kobashi on Oct. 1st he should be booked through the roof right now.
The Last Free Voice - August 29, 2005 03:23 PM (GMT)
hmmm. odd show. i'm starting to get concerned about guys like joe and cide, but with newer guys like nigel and rod "getting the ball" so to speak, it cant be all bad.

I sure hope Daniels comes out as the "Fallen Angel" when I go see RoH show next month.
Man, this kind of sucks. When I go...
Joe won't have a title.
Punk won't be there.
Gibson will have the RoH title.
...Although I can't wait to mark for Colt Cabana like a little kid. I can't wait to see Daniels, but I've been wanting to see him as the "Fallen Angel."

Guaranteed that Daniels WILL be the "Fallen Angel" again. I think the Curry Man thing was a one time thing.....
