Title: JAPW fears Gabe
Description: or how I made it sound gayer......

Here is my statement on the JAPW situation. I didn't pull Gibson. They made their own choice to pull him. It is common knowledge that the ROH World Champion doesn't do clean jobs on the indies and other indies respect this. We even give indies ROH world title matches when requested and have done so for numerous companies.
I am open to listening to ideas for finishes. When AJ and Daniels did jobs in ROH when they were X champion we cleared it through TNA and TNA was very helpful with us.
There are finishes that can be done with our champion. Even though I didn't have CM Punk bring the ROH World Title belt to FIP, he still did two jobs in FIP while ROH champ. One was after run-ins and one after outside interference backfired into a roll-up.
When AJ Styles won the NWA title a few days before our 6/14/03 Boston show I was in a position where we had to change the planned finish and I feel that the story we came up with in the London vs. Styles match was one of the best stories ever told in a ROH match.
There are ways to do things other than pulling talent off shows and then making it a public issue when no one knew the finish in the first place.
I am not looking to rip the fans off or damage any other indies. JAPW is a good place for the guys to work and they have helped us and the indy world by developing some great talent.
I do wish that the JAPW staff had talked things over with me more before sending out a vague email making me a heel. JAPW had always respected our champion in the past and I don't see why this would be any different. JAPW was upset with the way I worded things with them and I do understand that and should have worded things with them differently by asking them to respect our title. I was upset with them when I heard about their behavior at our show last Saturday, which is why I was short with them. That was my mistake. JAPW has since denied behaving in the way I was told they did and I believe them.
I want to apologize to any fans that were looking forward to this match although I was not the one that went public with everything without a reasonable effort to work things out and I did not pull Gibson from the show.
Some of you might agree with me, some of you won't. There is no correct answer to this argument. However, when I look at the work that Samoa Joe, Austin Aries and CM Punk did with the ROH World Title it is my job as well as the current and future ROH World Champions to protect that work.
My only grievance with JAPW is how they handled the situation and as I said before there will be no war with them. |

I have no idea whats going on, but ROH is going to hell as far as I can tell. TNA has even been putting on better events, which is sad. I haven't really wanted to buy a show since Manhattan Mayhem and with a lot of these guys leaving it'll take a lot to bring me back.

I don't have much of a clue what they are doing either, but I haven't seen their most recent stuff either. I'm sure I'll be getting more in the upcoming weeks, I just hope it comes off better on DVD than from the shit I've read about.

Maybe JAPW is actually smart enough to realize that Gibson is of no further use to them other than jobbing him and now can't do that.

The last show didn't sound all that great, I'll admit, but I've heard nothing but good things about the last Chicago show and can vouch for Dayton myself, so I wouldn't say they're "going to hell". Some things they're doing are worrying me, however. Their allusions to an "Authority figure" and the whole Kobashi tag thing both rub me the wrong way.

For the record, I may be driving to NYC to see Kobashi/Joe. I'll drive 6 hours........and it ain't for ROH, it's for Kobashi.
Although I like ROH, I think you see my point here.

Actually, it'll be more like 20 hours after you drive to Iowa to pick me up first...
Scrooge McSuck - August 25, 2005 04:23 AM (GMT)
Make that 48 hours when picking me up. :P

Hey, I'm not down on the matches themselvs, just how they're going about doing them. The whole "Ki and Cide are setting aside their differences with Joe to 'respect their roots'" thing Gabe has done just sucks. But anyway, PICK ME UP TOO! I'LL BRING SNACKS!
dynamite kido - August 25, 2005 03:03 PM (GMT)
This would be a great road trip. Me and RFS could discuss our favorite Kobashi matches while you two thumb wrestle over who is the master of the universe. Either that or you two fight because LFV would get his black hair dye on Scrooge's Hulkamania shirt.

And it'd be totally awesome for me cuz I've never seen any of this Kobashi dude. Didn't he invent the Burning Hammer? No, that was Misawa, right? Hell, I'm so confused. I like the Great Muta?

YOU'VE NEVER SEE KOBASHI?!?!?!!? Go to our media section and download the Kobashi/Jumbo match I put there................RIGHT FUCKING NOW! What are waiting for?
Kobashi used the Burning Hammer as a finisher earlier in his career.......not Misawa. The Great Muta in ring wise..........couldn't hold up to either of them.

| I think LFV was joking. |
Only time will tell.............and he should never joke about anything. Stupid emo kid.
The Last Free Voice - August 25, 2005 03:44 PM (GMT)
Actually I wasn't joking. I honestly have never seen any Kobashi or Misawa or any of those guys. The furthest I got into Puro was the Two J-Cups I got off Goldenboy a year or so ago.
Real F'n Show - August 25, 2005 03:47 PM (GMT)
LFV, you NEED to see some Kobashi. Download DK's match and I'll try and put something up later.
The Last Free Voice - August 25, 2005 03:48 PM (GMT)
Gosh. Okay, I'll try. Can't make any promises, cuz this PC sucks hard.
