Title: The Ultimate Fighter 2

The Last Free Voice - August 23, 2005 02:27 PM (GMT)
Caught the first episode last night, and I can't say I'm too impressed with this seasons cast. I mean, two quit and one injured? Already!? That's just lame. Although the Chi guy and that Myron dude are both mildly interesting, if only because I want someone to break Myrons jaw....

Anyone else catch this?

dynamite kido - August 23, 2005 02:36 PM (GMT)
I'll be checking it out in the next few days. I DVR'd it, but didn't get around to watching it yet.

It's off to a really lame start. Though it's kind of funny that the only two black guys in the house were at each other's throats within 5 minutes of getting into the house.

Even if Kenny would've made weight he could've got his ass handed to him. There's no way he would've been in any kind of shape for it. I think Eli was getting cut if he had stayed so it didn't really matter.

I just don't have a lot of respect for the UFC game any more, so it makes it tough to watch these really unpolished guys go at it. To me, Pride is superior in every way.

Scrooge McSuck - August 23, 2005 04:46 PM (GMT)
Since this is a UFC Topic and I have no idea, does Spike TV plan to air actual UFC shows, or are they just going with the reality show?

Mad Dog - August 23, 2005 04:49 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure what the plan for the actual events are yet.

I think Pride's overrated to be honest. They have higher calibur talent on top but there's just way too many cans and has beens taking up spots on the shows for my taste.

I like the UFC rules better as well.

whitemilesdavis - August 23, 2005 05:11 PM (GMT)
I really just find Pride's fight style more appealing. Pretty much just personal prefernce, except I think they have 3-4 guys WAY better than anyone in UFC. Just an opinion though.

The Last Free Voice - August 23, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
I know that Spike has been running some "Best of" type shows for the UFC, and that UFC used to have an actual show on the local FSN, so my guess would be that they'll be putting out some sort of show for them.

dynamite kido - August 23, 2005 06:04 PM (GMT)
I would say that Pride has better fighters at the top, but there are a ton of "worked" shoots that happen there. I don't know how prevalent they are in UFC though....

whitemilesdavis - August 23, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't say a "ton". Very early on, they definitely had some worked fights, but for the last several years only a few fights have been questionable.

Maybe I was wrong by saying a ton. There is still too much working going on though for me to totally support their product though. I wouldn't mind seeing more, but that this point UFC/Pride and MMA altogether is just something that doesn't fit into my budget.

Mad Dog - August 23, 2005 10:15 PM (GMT)
I'm going to write a review of Pride FC's first show on FSN tomorrow.

Scrooge McSuck - September 6, 2005 03:16 AM (GMT)
I've actually gotten into the Ultimate Fighter, despite my stand against 99% of reality shows. This is actual entertainment, not watching a bunch of glorified karaoke singers practicing a song made famous by someone with real talent.

I'm glad that Melvin guy was eliminated last week. 2 minutes after seeing him, he just got fucking annoying with his bragging, which he didn't back up thanks to a broken hand and being a fucking pussy in the fight.

EW! Cockroaches! (runs)

Edit: Not much of a surprise who won this fight. McDonald was injured, and with only 6 minutes left in the episode, it didn't seem surprising that this was a quick victory. At least it was better than last weeks 15 minute suckfest.

TehDoct0r - September 8, 2005 12:30 AM (GMT)
Does Vanderlai Silva (sp?) still work in Pride?

Mad Dog - September 8, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
Yeah, he lost last month.

Scrooge McSuck - September 20, 2005 03:14 AM (GMT)
Whoever selected this bunch fucked up major.

Ultimate Fighter 2: Land of the injured and crybabies.

Sounds like the NBA.

Scrooge McSuck - September 27, 2005 05:29 PM (GMT)
Last night was probably the best episode, and easily the best fight of the season. Unlike the pevious fights where people either pussyfooted around or were incapable of fighting, Jason and Jorge went all out for 3 rounds. :)

Big F'N Swigg - September 28, 2005 02:06 AM (GMT)
Jorge Gurgel and Rich Franklin train across the street from my bank. BJ Whitmer is taking submission grappling classes from them as well.
